The Actuaries Institute will convene the 2014 Financial Services Forum in Sydney on 5 - 6 May 2014. The theme for the Forum is Scoring Goals in a Changing World. T he world around us is changing more rapidly every day, as is the financial services industry. Technology and the 24/7 news cycle has put the focus on the here and now, and the short-term, but what about considerations of the long-term? We must score goals in a changing world to enable the financial services industry to continue to flourish. Can anything remain the same? What needs to be different? How do we weigh up the importance of long-term thinking and strategy versus short-term action against a backdrop of rapid change? The program is now being prepared and we are seeking papers or presentations. A limited number of concurrent presentation slots are available. Presentations will be 35 minutes in duration and presenters should be prepared for another 20 minutes of discussion and question time. Supporting papers are encouraged but not required.
