and procedures, options for dispute resolution, administrative hearing processes, and the principles of administrative law. A proven project manager, you will develop and deliver communication materials and education events and initiatives. You bring a proven track record in dispute resolution and policy development, as well as expertise in research and policy analysis, including drafting, editing and analysing complex reports, proposals and correspondence. Dispute Resolution AdviserThis role is well suited to an individual with extensive experience in the use and application of alternate dispute resolution. You will manage a caseload, and apply a variety of dispute resolution techniques to facilitate the successful resolution of student conduct complaints. Drawing on your knowledge of the principles of procedural fairness, and administrative law principles and procedures, you will prepare submissions for hearings, present cases before hearing panels, and participate in the development of revised dispute resolution procedures and a student code of conduct. A background in interpreting regulations and policies is essential. Professional training in alternate dispute resolution would be an asset. The Faculty of Arts invites applications for Associate Director of the Institute for Social Research. The initial term of the Associate Director position will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will hold a continuing full-time

tenure-track position at the Associate Professor level in a relevant department or division within the Faculty of Arts (for example, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Geography or Economics), commencing July 1, 2006, subject to final budgetary approval. The responsibilities of the Associate Director include: preparing research grant proposals; broadly participating in the research and administration of the Institute (but not day-to-day management and financial administration); participating in teaching short courses in data analysis and/or survey research; and performing data analysis and report writing. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and maintain an active research program.

Applicants should have: a record of excellent scholarship in a substantive area of social research in which quantitative analysis of large-scale survey data is prominent; a very strong practical knowledge of social statistics and data analysis, and some experience teaching in this area; a good understanding of survey research; practical experience in designing social surveys; and a record of successful application for external funding. Some experience in university administration would be a useful asset.

The Department of Theatre invites applications for one position in Movement for Actors, with undergraduate/ graduate teaching responsibilities. DESIGNThe Department of Design invites applications for two positions to teach at the undergraduate level, and help shape the activities of a Design Research Institute and an MDes program. The Bachelor of Design degree is offered as part of a joint program in design with the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, in Oakville.

The undergraduate curriculum focuses upon all aspects of Design Studies, Communication Design, Information Design, and Interactive Multimedia systems. Teaching and research facilities are housed in the new Technology Enhanced Learning Building at York. The Department is interested in applicants with demonstrated teaching capability at the undergraduate/graduate levels, and a strong commitment to design research, methods, theory and user-centred practice. Responsibilities of the position will include the teaching of a full range of undergraduate and graduate courses embracing both the technical and creative aspects of film and video production, with particular specialization in all aspects of narrative fiction filmmaking and an emphasis in one of the following: writing for the screen; directing actors; familiarity with digital post-production techniques. A particular responsibility involves the supervision of graduate production theses. THEATREMovement for Actors

The Department of Theatre invites applications for one position in Movement for Actors, with undergraduate/ graduate teaching responsibilities. The position requires qualifications to teach movement and dance for actors, with some ability to teach basic voice and body integration. Specialization in another discipline is desirable. The preferred candidate should be able to teach dance techniques such as ballet, modern and/or ballroom, and have a good knowledge of anatomy and alignment, some knowledge of Feldenkrais and/or Alexander or other body-centred systems, some experience in, and understanding of, emotional awareness through the body, and knowledge of period dance. Applicants must have extensive professional experience working with actors, both as a teacher and as a coach or choreographer. The Performance Area of the Department includes a three-year undergraduate conservatory and a two-year graduate program in acting. DESIGNThe Department of Design invites applications for two positions to teach at the undergraduate level, and help shape the activities of a Design Research Institute and an MDes program. The Bachelor of Design degree is offered as part of a joint program in design with the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, in Oakville.

The undergraduate curriculum focuses upon all aspects of Design Studies, Communication Design, Information Design, and Interactive Multimedia systems. Teaching and research facilities are housed in the new Technology Enhanced Learning Building at York. The Department is interested in applicants with demonstrated teaching capability at the undergraduate/graduate levels, and a strong commitment to design research, methods, theory and user-centred practice.
