OM ENGINEERING COLLEGE, JUNAGADH Project fair 2018 for final year Civil Engineering

students __________________________________________________________________________________

Om Engineering college, junagadh organized project

fair on 17th April-2018 as per GTU guidelines. Total 18

projects from civil department were displayed in the project

fair. This project fair provided platform to young budding

engineers to showcase their talent, technical skills and creates

healthy competition amongst them to perform better, which

eventually works towards enhancing their technical skills.

Due to this project fair students of first and second year got

practical idea about their own discipline and motivated

towards delivering the best during their pre-final and final

years studies. Senior faculty members and honorable trusties

and delegates from industry visited the fair and gave their

valuable inputs to students for promoting their products

and ideas in market.

Purpose of the Project Fair

Om engineering college, department of civil engineering

had organized the Project fair for final year students. Main

objective of the fair is to provide final year students to show

case their team project work during the year either through the

working project or poster presentation, and students showcase

their talent, technical skills. Second objective was to create

healthy competition amongst them to perform better, which

eventually works towards enhancing their technical skills.

Due to this project fair students of first and

second year got practical idea about their own discipline and

motivated towards delivering the best during their pre-final

and final years studies.

General Information

On 17th April Projects Fair was organized by civil department

for final year students. In project fair various group of students

presented their project work on different topics like Design of ideal

Railway Station, Modular Building, Effect of seawater for mixing and

curing on structural concrete, Vishwakarma Yojana: An approach

towards ruurbanisation etc. by poster presentation. All the faculties,

College Dr.N.M.Sureja Sir, some delegates from other colleges and

industry visited the project fair to evaluate best projects of fair of civil

department. The best three project was selected from different

projects.

“RE PLANNING OF RAILWAY STATION- RAJKOT” project work

carried out by Dave Nisarg’s group under the guidance of Nikunj

Hindocha Sir. In this project, students Implemented a new layout of

railway station and make a change in such a way that it could make

solution of problems such as Overcrowding, Ticketing, Entry-Exit and

also increase the capacity of parking.

2. Title of Project: An Experimental study on soil stabilization

using Polypropylene fiber

In this project students use polypropylene fibers as fiber materials in

sub grade soil and evaluate the effects of polypropylene fibers on

shear strength of soil by carried out direct shear test and other soil test

on samples. A project “An Experimental study on soil stabilization

using Polypropylene fiber” is carried out by Devmurari Sumit’s group

under the guidance of J.S.Makadiya Sir.

3. Title of Project: An experimental study on concrete with

partially replacement of cement by silica fume, meta kaolin &

rice husk ash.

These projects discuss the effect of using different pozzolonic

material as a partial cement replacement material in mortar mixes. An

experimental study of mortar mixes made with ordinary Portland

cement (OPC) and some percentage of OPC partially replaced by

different cement replacement material Such as silica fume, meta

kaolin & rice husk ash. This project is done by Panseriya Jay’s group

under the guidance of M.S.Qureshi Sir.

CONCLUSION

After the completion of this Project fair, final year

students learnt about team project work during the year, and

students show their talent, technical skills. In fair created

healthy competition amongst the students to perform better,

which eventually works towards enhancing their technical

skills. At the end top three innovative projects were evaluated

by our delegates from industry and our director Dr.

N.M.Sureja.

Due to this project fair students of first and second

year got practical idea about their own discipline and

motivated towards delivering the best during their pre-final

and final years studies.
