INTRODUCTION 

 

 

 

Linear slot diffusers are always considered as the most attractive air distribution devices. They are specially designed for ceiling mounting in a wide range of applications in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.  

At a perfect setting, linear slot diffusers provide a stable pattern of diffusion to produce an optimum performance for both supply and return air in addition to their pleasant appearance. 

COSMOS Linear slot diffusers have been developed to satisfy architectural and engineering applications that require a continuous length appearance, aesthetically pleasing design and high engineering performance.  

Slot diffuser models SD‐50, SD‐75 and SD‐100 are designed to give a comprehensive and full range of air flow patterns and volumes. Their deflector blades and volume control dampers give a full flexibility in air pattern and volume control. These are fully adjustable from the face of the diffuser. 

Single or multiple slot arrangements can provide any combinations of horizontal, vertical or any intermediate setting of air flow pattern over a full range of 180° adjustment, as each slot is individually adjustable. 

Model SD‐50 has slot width of 12.5mm, SD‐75 has slot width of 19mm and SD‐100 has slot width of 25mm. These slot diffusers are used for both supply and return applications. 

COSMOS slot diffusers are manufactured in one up to eight slots with a maximum one piece length of 2.5 meters as a standard permitting complete control of flow rate without disturbing the selected air pattern. 

Flanges on both sides are supplied on one piece linear slot diffusers, and on one side of end sections of continuous units. Also diffusers are available with mitered corner. 

When installed in the ceiling these diffusers provide a horizontal air path that is adjustable through 180° in each slot. One through eight slot diffusers can be adjusted to provide one way or two way air patterns.  

A vertical downward pattern can be adjusted from all slots as can a combination horizontal pattern and vertical downward pattern from a two or more slot diffuser. 

When installed in a side wall near the ceiling or in a sill, these diffusers can be adjusted to direct the air path upward to the ceiling and then horizontal along the ceiling.

SLOT DIFFUSER FEATURES 

• Available with 1 to 8 slots. • Choice of three slot widths (12.5mm, 19mm and 25mm) to suit capacity requirements. • The volume and direction of the discharge air can be adjusted by moving the pattern 

controllers. • Diffusers are supplied in length of up to 2.5 meter in a single section. • Multiple sections are provided with alignment strips on the frames. • Section of frames and mounting sub‐frames for various types of installations.  • Ideal for continuous length applications.  • Diffusers are available with mitered corner. 

 

MATERIAL 

• Extruded aluminum construction. 

 

FINISH 

• Standard frames are painted white (RAL 9016). Other finishes are available on request. • Pattern Controllers are painted black. 

SLOT DIFFUSER PLENUM BOX 

 

COSMOS plenum box for slot diffuser is designed primarily for ceiling and high sidewall installation, they are eminently suited to, and recommended for, VAV applications. It is also designed to ensure equal distribution of air across the slot diffusers. 

They maintain a tight and stable horizontal air pattern over a wide range of air volume by air volumes by utilizing the maximum ceiling coanda effect.   

The special mechanism provided with plenum facilitates easy attachment with slot diffuser and eliminates air leakage above falls ceiling. Plenums save on site fabrication and field labor. 

Plenum box has acoustic lining to reduce noise generated inside the duct due to airflow turbulence before reaching the diffuser.  

COSMOS plenum has three series P12, P19 and P25. Series P12 has plenum with slots having width of 12.5mm, P19 has plenum with slots having width of 19mm and series P25 has plenum with slots having width of 25mm. Series P12‐D, P19‐D and P25‐D comes with damper at the inlet. These series has butterfly damper or spigot damper at the inlet for controlling the volume of flow. The built in damper can be operated from the spigot connection or from the face of the diffuser. 

PLENUM BOX FEATURES 

• Galvanized steel construction. • Easily installed with flexible duct. • Available in various neck openings (100mm to 400mm). • Standard nominal lengths are 500mm, 600mm, 750mm, 900mm, and 1200mm. • Width available to fit model series P12, P19 and P25 with 1, 2, 3 and 4 slots. • Lined internally with acoustic media. • Round Inlet with damper for controlling air volume. Oval inlet as an option.
