Some, who raise funds for us, like to purchaseequipment for Health Centres and Surgeries intheir local area. We have a scheme where moniesraised or donated can purchase such equipmentfor use in local communities. Please visit our website for more details or contact a member of staffat the charity office for further information.

We rely solely on public support for our funding. Many of you have supported us year on year. Weare so grateful for your help and would urge thosewho have not done so in the past to considereither a donation, however small, or, organising afundraising event. Again, please call the office forfurther details.

Now in our 30th year, thanks to support from thepublic, NARA has provided medical equipment, advice, information, and 24hr support to patientswith breathing difficulties. Apnoea Alarms andNebulisers are just two of the many pieces ofequipment we provide to patients for use at home.

Simply providing medical equipment is relativelyeasy. However, uniquely, we provide bothpalliative care and a 24 hour `Community CareProgramme`. At a moments notice, this frequentlytakes us from our base in Northampton to some ofthe most distant points of the UK to help patients, their families and carers.

Our only financial support comes from publicdonations and our own fund-raising ventures.Demand for our assistance grows daily, we hopewe can continue to rely on the generosity ofindividuals, trusts, businesses, and localcommunities for support. We`re also thankful tothose who offer `helping hands` although now, understandably, are more difficult to find.

We need your help to simply allow others to`take a breath`

THANK YOU

Respiration Monitors for home use.

Respiration Monitors and Apnoea Alarms alert ababy`s parent or carer should they stop breathingallowing an opportunity to give whateverassistance necessary. In extreme casesresuscitation may be required. It is thereforeparamount that any person having charge of ababy is taught the proper methods. We suggestthat a `hands on` course with your surgery,Red Cross, or, St. John Ambulance is taken.

NARA does not suggestthat the use of thisequipment guaranteesthe life of a baby. However, it will giveevery opportunity ofassisting when needed. Many parents we have

helped over the years have expressed the `peaceof mind` the equipment has given.

The alarms we provide are solely medical and donot include baby listening devices such as thoseoffered in many High Street retail outlets

Nebulisers for home use.

Our patients, of all ages, suffer many differentrespiratory conditionssuch as asthma, COPDand emphysema toname but a few. Theyrequire both mains andportable Nebulisers toconvert necessary liquidmedication into a finemist to be easilyabsorbed by the lungs. The medication dispersesthe sticky mucus which congests them allowingthem, once again, to breathe freely.

Many think that Nebulisers are freely available onthe NHS. The reality is, in most cases, they are not.In cases where they are available the patient musttravel to and from their Surgery many times a dayfor treatment.

Our aim is simply to give our patients theopportunity of breathing, and in turn the freedomof leading as normal a life as possible despite theirparticular condition.
