(Note-In this part of the country, there were few Native Americans, because they feared catching cholera from the white man.) Is there bias in this article? Figure out the percentage of people out of 150 who encountered violence. Is this number high or low? Is out definition of violence to narrow? 10-Non-combatants are not included in these numbers. The author comments that Indian combat deaths were fewer than soldier combat deaths. Based on information that you gathered from other documents, is this statement accurate? (Hint-More Indians died from disease that bullets. In 1848, 1200 Pawnee died to cholera).
