Page 2: Film title credits

For the ending of my trailer I am maintaining the title credits that are featured within a film trailer. Whether this is at the start of the trailer or the end, after looking at several similar trailers I have found that most of them have this at the end for this reason my film title credits will be the last shot in my film trailer.

Contents:Main cast:- Monica Owen, Laura Whitely, Christian Smith, Steven HolidayCasting by: Ellie MooreExecutive producer: Ellie MooreCostumer designer: Ellie MooreWritten by: Ellie MooreDirected by: Ellie Moore

For each of these sections, I made the font for the names of the characters more bold and all in upper case letters. This was to ensure that the audience knew exactly who is featured in the film and attracts the audiences attention by having them bolder. As well as this I kept all the font in the colour black, because the background of the credits is yellow, black contrasts against this and stands out more. Using yellow and black links to the colour pallet of horror.

Production company:UNDEFINED productions in association with CO_ACTION MEDIA.

In between each of the credits of the crew members that have had a role in the film, this will be like the producers, costume, music, production companies and the actual name of the film. This will be centered the ensure that the viewers see this straight away and they are away of what the film is called.

To the left, this is the final design that I have produced with all my ideas and looking at the different credit titles that other horror films have.

Mise en scene:

- Using the black against the yellow background creates an eerie feel, allowing the black to stand out against the yellow is effective because it ensures the text will be seen. Sticking to the connotations of horror creating the feel of death and mystery.

- Throughout the text the sizes of the fonts are varied. This is so the importance of the text that is in the larger font attracts the audiences attention straight away. Again after looking at similar film title credits this is generally what happens and matches the typical conventions used.

- In my film title credit, Dyer Star Theory is used. I wanted to make sure this is put into the film title credit because it enables the famous members of the cast to been known and attracts the audience with who is in the film.

Throughout my film trailer I wanted unexpected information to pop out during the trailer that would either shock the audience with the sounds effects used against them as well as informing them on what could happen next or what they could be expecting from the rest of the trailer.

Having this at the beginning of the trailer straight away tells the audience when the trailer is going to be released and what season they should expect the film to come out. This allows them to get excited after watching the trailer and be more inclined to watch it when it comes out. Not giving the exact release date gives them the mystery of the exact date it will be released. Having the text in upper case letters makes it more emphasised and effective because its so large. As well as this the text will be shadowed maintaining back to the connotations of horror creating that dark feeling. As my film is called Scratching the Surface, having the text shadows links to the title because its like what's lying underneath. Which follows on to the next piece of text that will come up. Creating these on final cut it is a dramatic effect that zooms in and back out again. Having the white font against the black background allows the text to stand out a lot more and again they link to the colours that I wanted to use relating to horror. As well as this as you can see on all the screenshots, the same effects and colours have been used. This is to show continuality throughout the trailer.

Using the phrase ‘WHAT’S – UNDERNEATH’ – This has the effect on having separate slides so they are more effective and exaggerated on each one. Using these words continues to give that sense of mystery to the audience, allowing them to use their imagination of what to expect. As well as this linking back to the name of my film ‘Scratching the surface’ – This relates well to the finding out what is being scratched and who by. So it is forever giving the audience clues on what they can expect and unfolding the storyline to them without giving too much away.

Mise-en-scene

Looking at the text on the left, you can see that the black and white work well together ensuring they both stand out and grabs the audiences attention. The black again is used to create darkness and mystery, and the white enables the text to stand out and look more dramatic.

Film Title:

Above is the film title that I will use for my film trailer. I have yet decided where I will position this whether it will be at the start of the trailer or the end. Using this effect on final cut allows me to stick t the conventions of horror using the dark colour pallet of browns and black shadows. Continuing on from this effect when the trailer is playing the mark around the text creating the feel of the title being unveiled of what’s underneath. This allows the understanding of the text of what is under the surface and creates this effect by showing this. The text is in the same font that I have used for both my magazine front cover and my poster. This is to show continuality throughout and gives the same edgy effect on the text. The black colour of text is used to ensure it stands out in front of the colours of the background.

Sound:

As for the sound, for each of the text that pops up I am going to collaborate this with a dramatic sound when it enters the screen, this will give more of an emphasised effect on the words showing how important they are for future references during the trailer as well as hopefully making the audience jump with the unexpected sound that will follow this. Having the unexpected sounds links to the typical conventions of a horror trailer of being put in place purely to make the viewers jump and watch with precaution. The effects for this will be created on final cut, this will involve bangs, crashes, low drones.
