Transcript of FiftyForward College Grove Nov 2014 newsletter
Before she started Raptors
Roost Nature Education Center in Ea-
gleville, Jenn Froscher was a falconer.
These days, her mission is one of out-
reach - to educate and raise awareness
of native Tennessee Birds of Prey - by
taking birds to schools and public
events. Jenn is “reaching out” to Fif-
tyForward College Grove by bringing
her raptors to the Center for Potluck!
Jenn will bring a Red Tail
Hawk, an Adult Eastern Screech Owl
and a Bard Owl. She will discuss the
differences between diurnal (daytime)
and nocturnal hunters, how to identify
them, and how to keep a healthy wild
population.
Each raptor in Jenn’s care was
injured, rescued and rehabilitated.
None is releasable into the wild.
Join us for this fascinating
Birthday Potluck program on Novem-
ber 19th. Lunch is at 11:30, and Jenn’s
presentation will begin at noon.
The Center provides the main
course. Please bring a side dish.

Join us for this moving tribute to veterans, when Carole
Webb Slater discusses Letters From The Heart 1943-1946.
Her book is a collection of letters, written by a young P-51
pilot in World War II, to his sweetheart and to his parents. The
letters are heartfelt as he describes love, life in America, and life as
a fighter pilot in a war that changed the world.
Our friends at Franklin Ford-Lincoln have
sponsored this event, which allows us to offer lunch
at no charge to veterans and spouses of veterans.
Reservation deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Seating is limited.
The international impact of the Civil War in Tennessee will be discussed at 10:45
a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, when renowned “conflict archaeologist” and historian Damien
Shiels presents “Patrick Cleburne at the Battle of Franklin” at The Factory. Cleburne
was a Confederate General and an Irishman who fought for the South and died in the
fighting in Franklin.
There will also be an impressive array of local Civil War artifacts on display.
We’ll stop someplace good for lunch on the way back.
Join us if you can. The van will leave the Center at 9:45. Van fee is $5.
