He knows the joy of our human feasting, he knows the sorrow of our weeping. As we prepare to walk with him through the days of Holy Week, we are filled with faith that—through Christ—God’s glory will be with us in every moment of our lives and— with Christ—in our life everlasting. Please join us in reciting the Rosary every morning (Monday - Saturday) at 7:35 am before daily Mass. It is a beautiful and spiritual way to start your day. Every day following weekday Mass, we invite you to join us for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. It starts about five minutes after Mass (around 8:35 am). If you cannot join us, perhaps you can join the Divine Mercy on EWTN television channel at noon.

Take home some fun in God’s Word, grab a copy of “The Kids’ Bulletin” after each Mass!

“Active” membership at a Parish enables a person to be eligible to sponsor a child for Baptism, to receive financial aid for Catholic Education, to be married in the Parish and to prepare one’s children for the Sacraments. To be an “active” member is to participate in the life of prayer and stewardship in the Parish. All adults over the age of 21, living with their parents or on their own, must register in the Parish to be considered members. The use of the offering envelopes may also help you to qualify for tax incentives. Participating in one or more of the ministries offered by the Parish is proof of the sharing of time and talent for the greater good of our Church Community. So please pick up a free registration form at the Parish Office, or print one from our website at www.stbarnabaslb.org. Stop by the Parish Office and we will be happy to help you! Welcome to St. Barnabas!!!

Readings For The Week

Sunday: Fifth Sunday of Lent Tuesday: St. Isidore of Seville - April 4 Wednesday: St. Vincent Ferrer Friday: St. John Baptist de la Salle; Abstinence; First Saturday Isidore rose above his past to become known as the greatest teacher in Spain. He helped convert the barbarian Visigoths from Arianism to Christianity. He lived until almost 80. As he was dying, one of his last acts was to give all his possessions to the poor. When he died in 636, this Doctor of the Church had done more than he had ever hoped; the light of his learning caught fire in Spanish minds and held back the Dark Ages of barbarism from Spain. But even greater than his outstanding mind must have been the genius of his heart that allowed him to see beyond rejection and discouragement to joy and possibility.

VIRTUS Training Class

Stewardship For Children Beginning Sunday, March 19, our Parish has initiating a new program for children: “Pennies for the Poor.” The purpose is to teach the children the joy of giving back to God out of gratitude for all that God has

given to them. We invite all our children to prayerfully consider collecting any loose changes (ie. coins, bills), and at each Sunday mass, during the Offertory, they will be invited to come to the altar to place their gifts in a special basket placed in front of the Altar. This collection will be directed towards supporting the poor and orphan children for their various needs. For more info, contact the Parish Office.

We would like to introduce and officially welcome our Religious Education team.

Abel Gomez, Jr. is our Confirmation Coordinator. He began his ministry journey in 2007, when he was in his confirmation program. In 2010 he joined the “Holy Rollerz” Youth Group. Archbishop Gomez presented Abel with an award in 2012 for his dedication to the Religious Education community. He has been part of many retreat teams since 2008 in many parishes. He is grateful to have met his fiancé, Maricela, through their work in ministry. They are to be married in Feb. 2018.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez, Jr. is our Religious Education Coordinator and comes from being raised in a very spiritually strong family of faith. His parents are confirmation and retreat coordinators. Juan began his career in ministry helping his parents coordinate confirmation retreats over eight years ago. He also joined

the “Holy Rollerz” Youth Group and is part of our Confirmation team. Juan has taught in San Emydius Church in Lynwood. He is a dedicated and loving daddy to his two year old son who is his pride and blessed joy, Matthew.

Martha Curiel is our Religious Education office Administrative Assistant. Martha is the newcomer to the world of Religious Education Ministry and comes with over 25 years of experience in office administration and leadership. She is enjoying her commitment to our parish and looks forward to helping our families with their faith formation. She is devoted to her three children, two girls and one boy, who range in age from a college student at Humboldt State, High School senior and 7th grader in middle school.

Phil Reher is our RCIA Coordinator. He began his ministry journey in 2005, when as a convert he was baptized and confirmed at Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a volunteer in The Holy Family RCIA program for 7 years and helped Rita in the Saint Barnabas RCIA program the last two years. He accepted the RCIA coordinator

position last year at the request of Father Anthony.

WE NEED DISCIPLES ON HOLY THURSDAY – CAN WE COUNT ON YOU? We are in need of pairs of parishioners who would like to participate in the sacred tradition of washing each other’s feet during Holy Thursday Mass during Holy Week in April. This can be any combination within a pair: friends, siblings, spouses, father/mother, children, etc. We need 12 “pairs” of Apostles. Mass is on Thursday, April 13, at 7pm in the church. All volunteers are asked to be there about 30 minutes prior to mass for instruction. If you are interested in participating in this holy experience, please contact us ASAP! Michelle Smithson (310) 344-7862 & Chris Smithson (562)243-6896 "If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.” (John 13:14)
