FIELD VISIT OBSERVATION REPORT Project Implementing Agency : VIKASANA Project name : Children bridge school programme-Duglapura Location : Duglapura village, Tarikere taluk, Chikmagalur district Supporting agency : Asha for Education, Seattle Date of visit : 31st December 2016 Visit by : Mr.Kiran Kumar, Asha For Education, Bangalore Objectives of the visit: To visit Duglapura children bridge school centre and interaction with children to know their
educational status To interact with the teachers, programme director and know the updates about the status
of children bridge school To know the status of sustainable land development activities undertaken (with a focus on
organic farming) Statistics of bridge school children:
20 Children + 05 old children who had educational gap due to working, drop out, migrant,
single parent, orphan and etc,.
Process of visit:
Chattanahalli bridge school center
Visit to Chattanahalli bridge school center (one more bridge school project
implementing by VIKASANA.) and interacted with 20 children about children
education performance, daily routine, support related to the education, children
participation at KKID sports and cultural competition exposure visit and also discussion
with SSLC children about their study plan and future education life
Organic farm managed by Mr.Varghees Cleatas
Proceed to the Organic farm managed by Mr.Varghees Cleatas, Chairman, VIKASANA
and taken an overview about tree plantation, medicinal plants, horticulture plants,
animal husbandry activities (cow, chicks, goats) and impressed about this sustainable
agriculture model
Duglapura bridge school center
Proceed to Asha supported Duglapura bridge school center at Duglapura and
observation of the systems in place
New year celebration with children followed by cake cutting and exchange of wishes
Interaction with 20 Children + 5 old children
Discussion with the Ms.Parvathi, Teacher and Ms.Vibha, Cousellor about the children
activities and their educational performance (05 children educational status is normal,
05 children are growing up and rest 10 children are good in all subjects out of 20
children)
Visited-additional three building rooms constructed under orphanage children project
with the support by People Progress in India (PPI), Seattle.
Children were presented group signing, individual singing, cultural activities and
individual sharing
Then he addressed the children that we at ASHA for education expect the good
performance and commitment from the children to continue our financial support
Motivational words to Children towards continue their education
Solar water heater and solar lights by PPI, Seattle
Then the visit continued with observing the solar water heater and solar lights
supported by PPI, Seattle, WA, SELCO SOLAR, Shimoga, MINDA FOUNDATION,
Bangalore and SMILE FOUNDATION, Bangalore.
All these lights are working good and switched on normally everyday evening. Children are
using these lights to read, write and accomplish their homework in the evening. Children
continued their studies even when there is no power, dependency on uncertain electricity
reduced. Improved hot water facility for all children.
The facilities at the toilet and bathroom was also observed
Sustainable agriculture farm supported by ASHA for Education:
Visited the sustainable agriculture farm and taken observation over the land
development activities done so far, integrated farming, pulses field, kitchen garden,
nursery development, coconut plants, fruit bearing trees, banana cultivation, areca
nut plants, timber oriented trees and etc)
With the efforts of various land development intervention, VIKASANA is generating
some part of the income from vegetable cultivation, coconut selling, banana and
tamrind selling. Besides, various vegetables and coconuts were utilized for the
children consumption. Part of the income is spent on the management of bridge
school. Simultaneously part of the income spent on again upgradation of land
maintenance activities. Hence, VIKASANA is in need financial support from ASHA for
Education for next five years to sustain the income from land.

Dropped to Birur Railway station by 5.00pm
Observations/recommendation:
Appreciate the good work in taking care of the children hospitality and educations
system
Organic farm managed by Mr.Varghees Cleatas Sir is Awesome.
Happy to see all the children are happy and keep up the good job and continue the
same all time.
Hope all the educations records are in place and during my next visit I’ll try to take a
look at records of attendances, educations records/reports & progress who all going
to school for continuous improvement plans.
Good that most of the children participated in sports /cultural activities outside
campus and I Congratulate for fantastic achievement! Who participated and won the
Prizes.
Try implementing the CCTV facility to the Bridge school at both the places for the
security reasons of children’s as discussed during my visit.

Your dedication, enthusiasm and insight are really inspiring. I wish you many more
