Results • Karibu Music Festival is still a very young festival, this year being it’s second our

main objective was to showcase what we can do as a festival and what is on offer

in regards to talent locally and Internationally. We needed to strategical place

ourselves on the Tanzanian social calendar and believe we have achieve this with

great pride, African pride being a key ingredient.

• Apart from Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar, Nyama Choma and Marahaba, the

festival industry in Tanzania is still growing. Compared to other festival Karibu is

unique not only in its location but our philosophy and approach in promoting live

music development in the industry, unity through our collective love and

appreciation for the art and culture, furthermore understanding between one

another through our experiences. We don’t just want to establish a yearly event in

Bagamoyo but for us it is critical the festival and it’s objectives establishes roots in

Bagamoyo and especially amongst the youth.

• We wanted to create a platform where musicians, artists and like minded people,

come together to share, learn and experience all towards the development of live

music, culture and the arts, this we are confident was successful achieved this

year. However, there is always room for improvement and we are constantly

learning to better ourselves.

Learning Points

• Areas that need improvement included security, if we got the number we previously expected we would have been under real pressure. In addition, next year we will need to print our tickets and wristbands aboard as they were a lot of fake tickets and wristbands being sold outside the venue, hence, the reason we cannot be sure on exact numbers of attendees. Toilets was also a concern, the numbers we ordered were not delivered and the ones that were delivered were not properly maintained.

• What really worked this year was the lineup of artist. We had a strong lineup of local and international acts that really engaged and entertained the crowd. Thanks to our stage and technical crew our sound was solid and the acts flow nicely one after the other with no long timely gaps in between the live performances, furthermore our charming MC’s kept the audience informed and wanting more throughout.
