June flew by! Even with record-breakingheatonthenightofourJunemeeting,wepowered through and hosted an amazing
OfficialVisitforourDeputyGrandMatron,ShariHowe.Atthe“AllaboutME”receptionhonoringPattiCady,weheardabout her travels toGrandChapter ofMaine as aGrandRepresentative.Shesharedaboutthedifferencesandsimi-laritiesofEasternStarinMaineandtalkedofhervisitstoscenicareasof“ThePineTreeState.”ThePortPalPaloozahostedbyWorthyMatron,DeannaBaywasproductiveandfun.Weaddedtoagrowingsupplyoftinycushionsmadebyourmembers.Thelittlepillowsattachtoseatbeltsinor-dertoalleviatediscomfortcancerpatientsmayfeelfromaseatbeltrestingonanimplantedport. Julybrings cheerful timesof red,whiteandblue.Welookforwardtoparades,picnics,barbecuesandfireworks. Onthe4thofJuly,wewillparticipateintheIndepen-denceDayparade inFerndale.Wewould love tohaveasmanyaspossible joinusontheMasonicFamilyfloat.WeareinvitedbyFerndaleLodgetoenjoycoffeeanddonutsbeginningat9:30am.TheFerndaleVolunteerFireDepart-mentwillbegivingridestocommunitymembersaroundtownfrom10amtonoon.Theparadewillbeginatnoon.We are asked to be ready to get on theMasonic Familyfloatby11:30am. OurJuly10meetingisourtraditionalFriendshipNight.Asthethemefortheeveningis“SummerPicnic”,theattirewillbesummercasualandpantsareallowed(yay!).Wein-vitemembersofallchapterstocomefordeliciousrefresh-mentsat6:15pmandthemeetingwillbeginat7:30pm. California located in the town of Fortuna in theState ofCalifornia.AlliswellandwearerampingupfortheFortunaRodeoParadewhichisonSaturday,July20.AlthoughourScottishRiteValleyisnottakingpartasanentityinthefes-tivities,ourindividualmemberswillbeparticipatingintheparadeasShrineClowns,KnightsTemplarandBlueLodgeMasons.AllarewelcomeasthetownofFortunaputsonagreatshow. Weawardedtwoscholarshipstolocalhighschoolstu-dentstopursuetheircollegecareersinthebuildingtrades.WealsoapprovedadonationtoMelaniaMcKenna,toat-tend a 9 day seminar at GeorgeWashington University.Thisisgearedtowardsstudentsthatareinterestedinbe-coming a lawyer or attorney andwill includemock trialsthatwillgivestudentshandsonexperiencearguingtheircaseinfrontofajudge. eighties,Ihopeeveryonewasabletofindsomecomfortintheheat,andmaybeevenalittlefuninthesun. OurJunemeetingwasourannualMemorialmeeting.Thethemewas“YouraiseMeUp.”WewereblessedthatnooneinourChapterhadpassedthisyear,soourceremonyhonoredthosewhohaddepartedinthepast.Ireadsome“Things to remember aboutMemorialDay.” Brother Leehasawealthofknowledgeonthistopic,asitwasaMasonwhobeganthetraditionandthengottheholidaypassedintolaw,sohewasabletoaddtotheusualfunfactsIhadbrought.Thankyou,Lee. Camellia Chapter is having a food drive that startedlast month, and will go through the month of October.Pleasebringtoeachofourmeetingsnon-perishablefoodin non-breakable containers. With theguidinghandofWorshipfulGeorge,wewillbeholdingourannualFestiveBoardonJuly17th.ThisisaWednesday,notTuesdaynight.Wewillbehavinga5coursesitdownmeal.Themealwillbe$15perperson.PleasecallthelodgeandleaveaRSVPat822-1211.Therewillbenoof-ficersmeetingorpracticeonTuesdayJuly16th.TherewillhoweverbeaStarLodgecommitteemeetingat6pmonTuesdaythe16th.
