Each product/assembly/subassembly is consisted of components, materials, semi-finished

products. All data about the structure of product is specified in BOM.

BOM: Is it important? What is that? What means that?

Note: BOM can only be created for BOM goods (products and semi-finished products).

We can make it using a designer or put data manually – two available options:

1) Button: BOM

2) Designer option.

OPTION 1:

Using a button: BOM choose option LINES (Fig. 2), there will appear 2 windows, as

presented in the Fig. 3:

In order to prepare new BOM click button: Create BOM, as presented in the Fig. 3. When You see new window, describe Your BOM and choose Site 1, like it was presented in the Fig. 4.

Description field should be filled in with the name of the created list (eg: Wiktor's left door) and if there are more than one department in the company and BOM is to be valid only in the selected one, in the Department field select the appropriate value and confirm with the OK button.

When the BOM is created, two windows appear as presented in the Fig. 5.

Figure 5. BOM windowsIn the upper part of the window (A) you can define subsequent versions of the component list of a given product (different structures of the same product, there may be many different versions of BOMS’ of a single product, which may be valid but in different time intervals).

At the bottom of the screen ( Fig. 5, B) you can add individual components (lines) from which the BOM is consisted of.

Note: Selecting the Copy option in the window will allow you to copy an existing component list (button: functions copy). Copying function was presented in the Fig. 6:

We can copy BOM or Route. This is very similar process. A BOM which we want to copy should be selected. It should be approved and activated. Then we use a Function of Copying.

We have to select Copy Specyfic. It is relevant to define the base - from where will we copy BOM/Route and where it will be copied to.

To add components (rows) to the list of components at the bottom of the window (Fig. 5, B) , insert a new record <Ctrl + N>. Then fill in the boxes according to the instructions below (use appropriate bookmarks):

- Item’s number - select from the list the product (material or semi-finished product), which is to be a component of a given list,

- Quantity - the quantity of a given component to be taken from the warehouse to produce a finished product,

- In the series - the number of units of the finished product to which the consumption quantity defined in the Quantity field refers

- Unit - the unit, in which the component is taken to produce the component list.

When You define all characteristic of a particular BOM You have to click the following buttons:

a) Approve (To be able to use the newly created component list for production it is necessary to approve it. To confirm the component list, select the Approval button. Then mark the tag “Do you approve the BOM?” and close the window with the OK button). (Fig. 7):

b) Activation. In order for the list version to be active (prompted automatically), activate it by selecting the Activation button. After clicking the Activation button in the BOM row window in the cell titled Active, the v flag will be displayed. After each step (approval, activation) the status of BOM is changed.

Note: Only one version of the component list for a given product may be active at a time and from the same batch size.

OPTION 2:

Using a designer: button BOM choose option DESIGNER, there will appear a window, as presented in the Fig. 8:

Figure 8. Designer windowIn order to create a new BOM you can take an appropriate item (component of a BOM) from

place A, Fig. 8, and to drag it to the BOM (place B, Fig. 8).

When You click at the designer window to the component which is a BOM type to the

symbol “+”, you will see the components of this BOM (C, Fig. 8)

The designer window show information which were indicated by the system operator, what is

available in the SETUP bookmark. All options were presented in the Fig. 9:

1. We assume that our products are sold to the customer in a collective packaging in parts for self-assembly.

Constructor). Note: When using the BOM creator make sure that the settings are correct. The settings made in the Settings tab in the BOM window have a significant impact on the way in which information are displayed.
