“Expose  yourself  to  your  deepest  fear;  after  that,  fear  has  no  power,  and  the  fear  of  freedom  shrinks  and  vanishes.  You  are  free.”

–  Jim  Morrison

Feelings  are  neither  bad  or  good,  fact  or  fiction.     When  we  sit  and  experience  our  feelings  they  no  longer  hold  charge  or  a  hold  over  us.

Recovery  =  a  process  of  learning  to  move  through  versus  go  around  our  feelings

I  am  “upset”  because….   Most  people  try  to  change  the  ….  (control)   We  can  not  change  the  ….    The  only  part  we  can  truly  control  is  the  “upset”    It  is  our  “upset”  to  accept  and  love  (surrender)    “Your  task  is  not  to  seek  for  love,  but  merely  to  seek  and  find  all  the  barriers  within  yourself  that  you  have

built  against  it.”    -‐  Rumi

Write  down  the  most  recent  time  you  recall  saying:  I’m  upset  because  ….

What  would  be  your  normal  reaction?  Response?     What  made  you  upset?    Describe  the  upset?  What  does  it  have  to  say?      Can  you  talk  with  the  upset  part  the  way  you  would  to  a  child  or  pet  that  you  love?  (don’t  give  advice,  don’t  fix  the  problem  for  them,  don’t  cheerlead)

What  was  that  like  for  you?

Grounding  is  a  process  that  helps  the  body  to  connect  to  life  sustaining  earth  energies  via  its  root  chakra.  Because  we  are  first  and  foremost  spiritual  beings  the  physical  body  sometimes  is  ignored  or  gets  neglected.  It  is  important  to  respect  and  care  for  the  "container"  that  houses  our  spirit  during  our  incarnate  lifetime.      Gemstones  (obsidian,  black  tourmaline,  ruby,  red  coral,  and  onyx)    Root  exercises  (squatting  and  marching)    Root  chakra  affirmation    Tree  visualization    Drumming    Red  shoes

In  addition  to  grounding,  releasing  emotional  pain  is  crucial  to  healing

“Holding  on  to  anger  is  like  grasping  a  hot  coal  with  the  intent  of  throwing  it  at  someone  else;  you  are  the  one

who  gets  burned.”  -‐Buddha

Releasing  pain  is  putting  down  the  hot  coal

Gently  close  your  eye  lids    Place  hand  on  your  heart    Where  do  you  feel  the  pain?    Set  intention  to  release  pain    Pull  the  pain  into  a  thread    Wrap  pain  around  your  heart  in  bands    Intention  will  break  the  bands    Inhale  and  as  you  exhale  break  bands    Repeat  two  more  times    Check  in  with  your  heart  and  pain  body    How  does  it  feel?  Anything  left?      How  much  more  is  it  ready  to  release?

Its okay to be afraid. But don’t let that fear dictate who you are, or change who you can

become.
