Feed My Lambs, Inc., is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide tuition-free Christian schools for children living in impoverished areas around the world.

Feed My Lambs schools not only educate children, but also impact families with the love of Jesus Christ. They are schools of excellence and are funded solely by financial and in-kind

donations from individuals, businesses, foundations, churches and communities.

More simply, Feed My Lambs is about children, education and love, and has been since Founder Elizabeth Weatherby first conceived it.

OUR HISTORYIn 1982, our founder, Elizabeth Weatherby, first felt the call of God to “go get the little children.” Before our schools ever came into focus, Elizabeth began to find ways to make an impact in areas of need that were local to her. In the metro-Atlanta area, she worked with local grocery stores to receive donated food, and in turn, she developed a program to give that food to the poor. She preached and sang in state and local prisons and worked with inmates and their families. She developed several outreaches to help impoverished areas that included clothing drives and holiday parties. Those parties are now known as our Happy Birthday Jesus parties and, to date, have been able to provide Christmas to more than 100,000 children.

We were incorporated in July 1990 and received our 501 (c) 3 nonprofit status in April 1992. Our first Feed My Lambs school opened in 1994 in the historic Techwood Homes of Atlanta, GA., which in 1936 was the first public housing homes project established in the United States. Our second school opened in Johnny Walker Government Homes in Marietta and our third school opened in 1997 at Red Barn Mobile Homes in Cherokee County. And like they say, “The rest is history.”

OUR MISSION is to partner with local businesses, communities and area

churches to open Christian schools in economically impoverished areas, to

help empower at-risk children spiritually, academically, physically and socially, and to strengthen families and communities.

OUR PRESENT

OUR FUTUREFeed My Lambs is committed to reaching every child on its surging waiting lists, and to add new schools where children need them. Its most immediate need is additional funding to meet the following priorities: > Acquire our first stand alone school building in the Atlanta West-

side for the 2017-2018 school year. > By the beginning of the 2018 school year we would like to expand

our Marietta and Austell locations to be full-day preschools, offering before and after school care. > Add three new schools in metro-Atlanta.

To date, Feed My Lambs has enrolled more than 13,200 children in 20 independent schools in metro-Atlanta, Liberia and northern Mexico. Student enrollment exceeds 1,600 children in metro-Atlanta; Ganta, Monrovia and Paynesville, Liberia; and in Piedras Negras and Nava northern Mexico.

All Feed My Lambs schools are in high-risk, economically impoverished areas and have long waiting lists of children. Over 100 staff members support Feed My Lambs’ student population, including seven staff members in its Cobb County, GA headquarters, who manage fundraising and administration.

Additionally, Feed My Lambs has a nine-member volunteer board from Atlanta’s business, education and religious communities, and enjoys the day-to-day involvement of our Founder, Elizabeth Weatherby.

For 26 years Feed My Lambs has believed that if you build active minds, healthy bodies and happy hearts for children living in poverty today, they can be stronger tomorrow.

Feed My Lambs has taken this belief and translated it into each of its schools by first recognizing God is central to developing happy hearts for its children and families. By demonstrating the love of God in the classroom, the children feel accepted, they have hope, and their self esteem is raised.

This love is also poured out onto the families and has been proven to radically transform their home life. They begin to pray before meals, sing worship songs and attend church. Scripture says, “a little child shall lead them” and Feed My Lambs has witnessed this firsthand over the years.

Feed My Lambs believes that in order to build active minds, the children need to have healthy bodies. Having a healthy body increases attention span, lowers behavioral problems and establishes good eating habits. The preschool years are essential for positive eating habits because the brain and central nervous system are in their fundamental growth period. Since the very first school opened, Feed My Lambs has provided two nutritious meals to its students each day.

Feed My Lambs understands by laying each student’s academic foundation, we are decreasing the likelihood they

will remain in poverty. Research shows that children living in poverty are at a greater risk of lower IQ’s, crime, school drop out, and teen pregnancy. If Feed My Lambs can inspire, mold and introduce the world of learning to its students, by using its play based curriculum it can set the stage for academic success.

Local Schools UpdateAustellIt has been quite an exciting start to the 2016-2017 school year at all four metro-Atlanta locations. For several years the Austell school has had 30+ children on its waiting list and with the partnered church not able to provide any additional classroom space at the time, there has been very little we could do to alleviate the wait list. At the end of last year, the church was able to give us another room which made it possible for 14 more students to come off the waiting list, making the enrolled total 57. Thank you to Ms. Julie Williams and her family for the new carpet, paint and curtains in the school. It looks brand new!

MariettaThe Marietta school continues to be the hub for volunteerism and we would like to thank Kennesaw State University, Mount Paran Christian School, and Lifeway Christian Bookstore for dedicating time, money, energy and all-round support to our students and teachers. With 45 students and 8 students on

the waiting list we were able to open up one additional classroom and are looking at opening another in January 2017. In order to open this school on time the classroom needs to be set up, which includes purchasing tables, chairs, and fixed center material.

CantonFeed My Lambs Canton remains our smallest school with 23 students enrolled. This is the maximum capacity for this school as it is one classroom which includes a kitchen against the wall. For several years this school has been in need of a makeover and over the summer received new interior paint and a newly

painted sign. While we rejoice in this progress, this school is still in need of work. It needs new flooring, a new rug, and exterior painting. It is our belief that if we are able to find a bigger space for our Canton school we can have more children. Please join us in prayer as we search for a bigger space.

AtlantaThe Atlanta school located inside City of Refuge is pleased to announce that it has completed its expansion! After several years of tirelessly working to expand the school from 60 to 100+ students, we have been able to take children off our waiting list. In completing the expansion we added two new two year old classrooms that can accommodate 15 students each, expanded out the nursery and one year old classrooms which brought the enrollment to 11 in the nursery and 12 in the one year old class. We also built Ms. AnnMarie, our school director, a brand new office that sits just outside the new two year old classrooms. Even though the primary construction is completed, there are still curriculum supplies and furniture to be purchased as well as wall-to-wall shelving that needs to be purchased.

WHY PRESCHOOL?STUDIES FIND THAT FAMILY POVERTY DECREASES IQ, VERBAL ABILITY, AND ACHIEVEMENT SCORES OF CHILDREN FROM TWO TO EIGHT YEARS OLD.

Families living in poverty have poor nutrition which in turn has a negative effect on educational attainment. The harmful effect of poverty is accentuated by neighborhoods with a concentration of low-income families. The concentration of poverty, joblessness, and violence appear to be normative and reduce children’s motivation for school achievement. The need is critical and immediate.

FEED MY LAMBS BRINGS HOPE! Feed My Lambs employs WEE Learn Curriculum in its schools, which enables teachers to prepare individual, age appropriate experiences for the students.

The curriculum bends concepts from:

Urie Bronfenbrenner’s ECOLOGICAL SYSTEMS THEORY

Jean Piagot’s DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE THEORY

Erik Erikson’s STAGES OF PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Howard Gardner’s THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES

Research shows that children who attend quality preschool are more likely to succeed in school and in life.

Likewise, those who go without, especially those growing up in poverty, face effects from lower IQ levels, crime, teen pregnancy and even overall continued cycle of living below the poverty level.

However, research also supports what Feed My Lambs knows: Early intervention works. More than other educational innovations, high-quality programs for young children living in poverty have demonstrated the promise of lasting benefits and return on investment.

The High/Scope Perry Preschool study reports that every dollar spent on preschool programs yields up to a $16 return on investment by saving government spending on education, the criminal justice system, public assistance and increasing tax revenues.

Feed My Lambs recognizes that the choice is to invest in high-risk children now, or pay later.

Growing up I lived in a single parent home where my mother took care of my younger sister and me. When I was a toddler, my grandmother worked at Feed My Lambs and helped get me into the program.

Feed My Lambs was the kick start to my academic career and spiritual walk with God. Attending Feed My Lambs, helped me get familiar with other kids, it taught me my letters and numbers, and I also learned about God through Bible verses, songs and prayer.

Throughout my school career I have maintained very positive grades and graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. I attended Clemson University and was a track athlete. I majored in business management and began working for PepsiCo when I graduated in 2013.

I was given the start that many people do not have, and I am very grateful to Feed My Lambs for the grounds that were implemented for me.

We are so thankful and grateful to God and to you for allowing my son, Caleb, to be a part of this great program. As a parent, it was very important that Caleb attend a preschool program where he is taught and grows up with a solid Biblical foundation. Until now, he was at home.

Since attending Feed My Lambs he is doing great! He loves his school, his teachers and all the kids in his class. Since being in school, I have seen a total transformation in him. He is more outgoing, confident, and has a higher self-esteem.

Caleb’s favorite time of the day is when he gets to participate in praise and worship; he comes home singing and is eager to share the songs with us. He recently came home and said, “Mommy we prayed in a circle and I learned that God isn’t just my friend, but he is my Father. Jesus is my friend and I love God.” That touched my soul. Praise God for the spiritual foundation my son is receiving. Thank you so much for your support, and giving into this ministry. It makes a big difference in Caleb’s life. God bless and thank you!

Dearest Friends and Partners,

Blessings to each of you and your families. I am trusting you have had a wonderful and delightful summer. I have always loved the different seasons, each one is to be enjoyed and appreciated. As I was praying this morning and reading Psalm 91, I began to decree this Psalm as God’s Promise for each of us who love Him, who has made God their Refuge, who trust in Him completely. I then really felt led to share with you, my friends and partners, what God has shown me about Psalm 91.

A few weeks ago, I drove up beside a policeman and gave him two prayer cards of Psalm 91; he was thankful and received them with no hesitation. I looked at him and said, “Sir, there are many Christians who love you and are grateful for your services, and we are praying for you. So please keep this Psalm in your car at all times and pray out loud over yourself and others daily for God to protect you.” The policeman looked at me and said he would do just that because he had already been shot at twice that week. My timing to hand him the prayer card was not an accident.

I believe the Spirit of God has put each of you on my heart today to give you this prayer: Psalm 91. Please always know how much I love you and thank God daily for you. You are my Hero’s In CHRIST. Thank you for allowing me to share my heart and God’s heart with you today and I encourage you to pray Psalm 91 over your families daily.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Psalm 91:1,2

Jesus is Lord! Love and Blessings,
