This Sunday - Scout Sunday In the 10:30 worship service this Sunday, February 8, we will be recognizing and honoring the Boy Scouts that our church hosts and sponsors. The Scouts will be processing in with their leaders, and their parents and families will be worshiping with us as well. For many years, our church has been privileged to sponsor this honorable organization which now consists of 73 boys. Through the years our Scouts program has been recognized for its exemplary achievements. But since the Scouts meet during the week, the only time most of us get to actually see the Scouts, their leaders and families is on Scout Sunday. Next Sunday - Basketball Sunday and Missions Fair February 15 will be Basketball Sunday in the 9:15 worship service. Like Scout Sunday, Basketball Sunday is another opportunity we have to actually see how many people are reached by our church’s ministry. This year, our church has 15 teams, involving 145 players. Join us this Sunday as we welcome them and their families (many of whom are guests) to Earle Street. Also on February 15, we will be having a Missions Fair from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. It’s a drop-in, so you can come any time between those hours and stay as long as you like. The purpose of this event is for the congregation to learn about our church’s mission involvement “beyond the walls” of our buildings and to discover ways to become (more) active in missions locally, nationally, and internationally. There will be sign-up sheets for upcoming events, trips, and projects, pictures and videos, special guests, information, and give-aways at each booth. It will be a great way for you to get to know the people with whom you would be serving, to meet new friends, and fellowship with old friends. Over the next two Sundays, we will get just a glimpse of the far-reach of our church’s missions and ministries - - a vivid reminder of how vibrant and healthy this family of faith is.

SAVE THE DATE!APRIL 18, 2015

If you are new in our church, Operation Inasmuch is a one-day event when we come together as a church family and serve in our community with our time and talents. If you have been a part of this in years past, then you know first-hand what a difference these projects make in the lives of those we touch. This year’s date is Saturday, April 18th. There are approximately 12-15 projects to choose from. Come to the ESBC Missions Fair on Sunday, February 15 for a preview of these projects and sign up then. Or you will be able to register online at www.esbcgreenville.org or call the church office after that. Please save this date and join in the fun as we carry Earle Street Baptist Church “beyond the walls” into our community.

HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE/YOUNG ADULT MISSION TRIP

Support our young adults as they serve others! Give to (or go on!) the NYC Mission Trip

July 5-12, 2015

Our high schoolers, college students, and young adults will be going to the South Bronx in New York City. If you would like to support them by helping to offset the cost, they would greatly appreciate any donations you can make. You can write a check to the church labeled “NYC Mission Trip” and either give it to Greg Dover or put it in the offering plate. Just make sure it is clearly marked. Or maybe you want to pledge $5, $10, or $20 a week for the next few months. If so, contact Greg ([email protected] or 233-5332 ext. 203) and let him know. Any amount helps, and even if you can’t give, please keep this trip and the people participating in your prayers.

Thanks to your generous support, we were able to raise over $10,000 for youth missions on Saturday night at our Wildfire event! After a tithe to the church, each of our 43 youth will earn $240 for their summer mission trips.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES

During winter there is always the possibility of bad weather. For information on cancella-

tions or delays, call the church office at 233-5332 and dial ex-tension 500. We will have information posted on our website, Facebook and Twitter page, WYFF-TV and WSPA-TV.

WHAT IS “A HOUSE ON BEEKMAN?”This summer, we will send 40 plus high school youth, college students and adults to the Bronx to work with “A House on Beekman.” “A House on Beekman provides a seamless series of holistic programs from birth to adulthood that empowers our neighbors in the South Bronx to create long-term change to break the cycles of poverty through incarnational relationships.”

“AHOB” offers 3 programs throughout the year:

Babies to 3• empowers and equips caregivers to take ownership of his or her infant’s growth and development. The Preparatory Program• for preschool aged children prepares children for Kindergarten and beyond by fostering growth in all areas of development- academic, social, emotional and spiritual.After-School• teaches our kids to love learning, see it as an adventure of life, and that learning is not just confined to the four walls of a classroom.Summer Camp• is a place for 100 children in the South Bronx to have four weeks of learning enrichment, creative thinking, and healthy eating. They get to explore new places, serve each other, and learn in a safe and positive environment.”

Our group will provide camp counselors and teachers for the children during one week of their summer camp. Thank you so much for your faithful support to this ministry and to us as we serve them!
