Weekly responses

Weekly ResponsesYour weekly response should be in the following format:One SentenceYour thesis statementWhat is your argument? Two ParagraphsYour supporting pointsWhy are you making that argument?

Two ParagraphsEach paragraph should have the following items:PointIntroductionQuotation/EvidenceAnalysis

PointOne sentence that supports your thesis (you only get two, so make them good!).

IntroductionBe sure to attribute your quotation! In the first paragraph, you should state the authors full name and the title of the text (in quotation marks if it is an essay, short story, article, chapter, or poem and in italics if it is a book, play, or epic poem). In the second paragraph, you should only use the authors last name.

Quotation/EvidenceQuote concisely! Only use what you absolutely must and put quotation marks around exact words or phrases that you take from the text. Finally, make sure you include a proper MLA citation. You may also include a paraphrase or summary to enhance your quotation or to stand alone as your evidence.

AnalysisThis part is where you shine! Make your point! Explain your point and how it connects to the quotation and your overall argument to the readers. This section should be the majority of your paragraph and should be entirely your thoughts and opinions.
