LAS VEGAS - Kamron Doyle of
Brentwood, Tennessee, became
the youngest United States
Bowling Congress Team USA
Trials champion in history, while
Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton,
Ohio, won the women's crown for
a record fifth time.
Doyle, who is 16, defeated
Marshall Kent of Yakima,
Washington, 234-206 to claim the
men's title, while Pluhowsky
defeated two-time champion
Danielle McEwan of Stony Point,
New York, 246-222, at The
Orleans Bowling Center.
In addition to earning the titles,
Doyle and Pluhowsky will now
represent Team USA at the 51st
QubicaAMF World Cup.
Doyle built a 31-pin lead mid-
way through the championship
match and never looked back in
defeating Kent, who held the pre-
vious record as youngest champi-
on at 19 in 2012.
"It's pretty cool to be 16 andcome out on top against the pro-
fessional bowlers and other great
players in this field," said Doyle, a
four-time member of Junior Team
USA. "It's going to be a hard
record to break, I think."
Down by 21 pins early in the
women's title match, Pluhowsky
rallied with eight consecutive
strikes to close out the victory.
"I'm very excited because it's a
big year ahead for Team USA with
the World Championships in
December, and I just wanted to be
a part of it again," said Pluhowsky,
who won the Team USA Trials in
2001, 2003, 2004 and 2011. "Last
year, I led and lost in the final, and
this year I just wanted to come in
and make good shots."
In the semifinals, Doyle defeat-
ed AJ Chapman of Wichita,
Kansas, 236-189, while
Pluhowsky took down Liz
Johnson of Cheektowaga, New
York, 234-214.
All of the players who advanced
to the stepladder finals earned
automatic spots on Team USA in
2015 by surviving a grueling five-
day, 30-game format that awarded points based on the position in
which they finished each day.
The National Selection
Committee also announced the
remainder of the Team USA roster,
which was made up of two men
and two women based solely on
their performance at the Team
USA Trials and five men and five
women who met eligibility
requirements, submitted resumes
for consideration and also based
on Trials performance.
The men's selections based on
resumes and Trials performance
were Bill O'Neill, John Janawicz,
Sean Rash, John Szczerbinski and
Chris Barnes, while Devin
Bidwell and Tommy Jones were
selected based on their Trials per-
formance. Joining the women's
team as selections from resumes
and Trials performance were
Brittni Hamilton, Missy Parkin,
Josie Earnest, Kelly Kulick and
Stefanie Johnson, while Bryanna
Caldwell and Erin McCarthy were
picked based on Trials perform-
ance.
There were also four spots on
Junior Team USA awarded withthe top two age-eligible finishers
for the boys and girls earning
automatic spots. The selection
committee also added two boys
and two girls.
Joining Junior Team USA were
Matthew Farber, Greg Young,
Dallas Leong and Kenneth Ryan
on the boys side, while Jadee
Scott-Jones, Gazmine Mason,
Sydney Brummett and Mary Wells
made it on the girls side.

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Professional Bowlers Association Tour
telecast of the United States Bowling Congress Masters on ESPN was
the most-watched cable sports program on Sunday, February 8, 2015,
reaching more than 3.5 million viewers.
The telecast, which featured two-handed Australian bowler Jason
Belmonte winning a historic third-straight Masters title, averaged 1.17
million viewers in the last quarter-hour of the telecast. The two-hour
telecast averaged a 0.60 household U.S. rating representing a 62 per-
cent increase versus the 2014 USBC Masters telecast.
“Viewership numbers for the PBA on ESPN have been very encour-aging,” PBA Commissioner Tom Clark said. “The USBC Masters was
another historic, action-packed spectacular. Sports fans nationwide are
tuning in which is great for our sponsors, players and the game. When
more people see bowling on TV, more people go bowling, become
interested in bowling, become inspired by the best.”
The Masters telecast was part of a positive household U.S. ratings
increase for the PBA on ESPN this year, up 20 percent year-over-year
when compared to the 2013-14 season-to-date.
The television success comes following a partnership between PBA
and USBC to include the USBC Masters as part of the PBA Tour sched-
ule in 2015 and 2016. The event had previously been planned for late
summer.
Belmonte became the first bowler in the sport’s history to win the
Masters three consecutive years. He won a drama-filled semifinal
against Hall of Famer Pete Weber of St. Ann, Missouri, before defeat-
ing AJ Johnson of Oswego, Illinois, for the title.
The USBC Masters drew a sold-out field of 336 of the best bowlersin the world and awarded more than $250,000 in prize money.

G O O W L
HACKENSACK, NJ - Bowler
City was the stop for the Stan
Niemiec Youth Travelers who,
despite the venue change, con-
tinued to storm the pin decks,
putt ing up huge numbers once
again. Last session, it was
Holiday II smashing its way to
high net set with a seemingly
untouchable 2627 only to have
Holiday I surpass it Sunday witha 2691 masterpiece. In its blitz
sweep of T-Bowl, the high-flying
H I quartet enjoyed three triple
deuces and a season best 242 for
Lilly Sigona. The other nine
“200s” belonged to her mates,
co-bowler of the week Nick
Cilento 245-279-212-736, four-
teen-year-old Ryan McGuire,
one of four freshmen who aver-
aged 200+ on the afternoon, with
213-248-257-718 and his brother
Alex with 203-218-247-668.
T-Bowl, simply outclassed on
this occasion, was led by Josh
Spiegel who recorded 206-192.
Bowler City I put up fine num- bers as well, firing a 2507 net,
torrid Paramus Catholic senior
James Kane earned co-bowler of
the week honors by matching
Cilento’s 736 with games of 244-
235-257 in leading his team over
Fair Lawn. Passaic Tech junior
Anthony Rizzo scorched the
maples with 218-237-221-676,
twelve-year-old Trevor Savoye
had his best outing, posting 193-
177-191-561 and Janina Santoro
added a 191 to the fray. Fair
Lawn freshman Tyler Nappi,
second of the four ninth grade
high-rollers, tallied 612 on
games of 213-183-216, MadisonPerry had 213-187 and Katrina
Plaszky a strong over-average
finish.
In another high-scoring affair,
Montvale regained second place,
taking five of seven points from
North Arling ton, 2930-2869 as
the third freshman, Pascack
Valley’s Henry Tipping, pounded
the plastics with 225-195-265-
685, also faring well for the vic-
tors was Nick Fabiano 197-192.
Fueling North Arlington’s strik-
ers was Jordan Lopez 222-211-
218-651, with 193 singles tossed
in by Donovan Battistus and
Vincent Amato. The fourthfreshman, Ridgefield Park’s
Derek Lewandowski, lit up the
leader-board for Bowler City III
with closing gems of 258-255-
664, rarely straying from the
one-three pocket, as he teamed
with Dana-Marie Laloo 188-185
and Nick Reyes 212-225-219-
656 to earn seven points out-
shooting the blind score. Ditto
results against a vacancy for
Bowler City II thanks to bal-
anced above average totals
stroked by George Held 193-
192-199-584 and Margaux
Lesser, a +32 middle game of
177.
After splitting the first two
games with Holiday II and
beh ind in pin fal l, Boonton
rebounded with a 986 to take the
finale and snare the wood point,
2791-2775 in a nail-biter. Pacing
Boonton’s pin-topplers was Karl
Kattermann 225-211-620, with
help from Sean McGuire 204-
190 and Peter Hancock 194.
Holiday II was a player shy, but
competitive with Al
Chamberlain rolling 254-220-
209-683, Joe Malyack 211-190-
232-633 and Justin Milligan 195.
