SYRACUSE The future of organized bowling in
New York took an historic turn when the three United
States Bowling Congress state associations became
unified under the New York State USBC, Inc., banner.
The organizational meeting of the new merged asso
ciation was June 11 at the Carrier Circle Hotel (for-merly Holiday Inn). The NYS USBC now consists of
the Empire State USBC Bowling Association, the
New York State USBC Womens Bowling
Association and the New York State USBC Youth
Association, and now serve the states approximately
150,000 USBC-certified bowlers.
This is something that weve been looking for-
ward to for several years, said Priscilla Pat
Zonneville, president of the NYS USBC Womens
Bowling Association and chairperson of the
Transition Committee that coordinated the merger
effort. I commend the leaders of all three state asso-
ciations for acting on the vision and working togeth-
er for the singular purpose of providing outstanding
service to our membership.
Officers and directors of the three state associations
along with representatives of the New York State
Bowling Proprietors Association served on theTransition Committee, which developed the New
York State USBC bylaws and submitted a slate of
officers and directors for the first NYS USBC board.
New York State local association representatives
were invited to the organizational meeting to approve
the bylaws and to vote for officers and directors. The
initial NYS Hall of Fame/Awards Dinner honoring
recipients from both the mens and womens associa-
tions was Saturday evening at the Carrier Circle
Hotel. Frank Formicola of Rochester, Marilyn
Johnson of Poughkeepsie, Sheila Allen of Peekskill
and the late Dick Battista were inducted.

The International Bowling
Museum and Hall of Fame in
Arlington, Texas is proud to
announce a new long term exclu-
sive naming rights sponsorship
for its newest attraction, the 50
Years of Womens Pro BowlingExhibit, which will open June 29.
Station Casinos Lanes Las Vegas,
which includes four bowling cen-
ters throughout the companys
portfolio of casino properties, has
stepped up to support the dynam-
ic new exhibit, and has renewed
its commitment to partner with
bowlings leaders to move the
sport forward in the near and dis-
tant future.
We are so proud to offer our
support of this project, said
David Garber, Corporate Director
of Bowling Sales for Station
Casinos. As a top bowler and for-
mer Team USA player, Garberhas a special affinity for the play-
ers who will be honored in the
new exhibit. As a bowler, I
learned a lot from the women
professionals, so it makes me
proud for our company to be able
to give something back to them
by representing Las Vegas, a
place where they have had so
many exciting events.
The agreement also includes a
commitment for the IBM / HF to
work together with Station to
develop national promotions and
events that will be very rewarding
to everyone in the industry. We
couldnt be happier about ournew partnership with Station
Casinos for the museum and our
new exhibit, said IBM / HF

are especially proud that it is a
long term commitment to the
entire industry. We are very excit-
ed about what it will bring to
bowling in the future.
The 50 Years of Womens Pro
Bowling Exhibit has been in the
planning stages for more than a
year, and is currently under con-
struction inside the bowling
museum. It will honor women
professionals from 1960, when
legendary players like Marion
Ladewig were showing the world
that women could compete and
entertain at the highest level, to2010, when Kelly Kulick
knocked down the wall and
proved that women could triumph
in any arena when she won the
PBA Tournament of Champions
at Station Casinos Red Rock
Lanes. The exhibit will feature
graphics honoring the top players
from each decade, major events
winners, a 50 year timeline, and
life the women pros enjoyed off
the lanes as ambassadors of the
sport. It will also feature interest-
ing artifacts from the tours and
players, interactive media with a
motion picture about the history,
slide shows depicting player andtour images, and a touch screen
interactive monitor with informa-
tion and
interesting tourbits from the
years when the womens tours
were a top attraction.
The exhibit will officially open
Wednesday, June 29 at 6:30 pm as
part of the Bowl Expo Night at
the Bowling Campus celebration
featuring a special IBM / HF pro-
am at the adjacent International
Training and Research Center.

Three Affordable
Options For
Bowlers To Train
Like The ProsARLINGTON, Texas - The
chance for bowlers to hone their
skills on the lanes at the
International Training and
Research Center (ITRC) and have
the world-class ITRC staff assist
them with their equipment now is
available to United States
Bowling Congress members
through the ITRC MembershipProgram.
Three levels currently are offered
through the ITRC Membership
Program. Features include time on
the lanes, services from the pro
shop and a package that includes
the use of on-lane training soft-
ware.
"We've had many teams and indi-
viduals come to the ITRC for
coaching, and the ITRC always is
available to USBC members for
lessons," ITRC and Team USA
head coach Rod Ross said.
"However, there are several
bowlers who would like to train
on the ITRC lanes and patterns, aswell as have packages to maintain
and service their equipment. With
the ITRC Membership Program,
bowlers now have more options."
Each ITRC Membership Program
package offers lane time, two
options offer a labor package and
a 30-percent discount on lessons,
and a third option offers use of the
Computer Aided Tracking System
(CATS). A labor package includes
ball drilling, ball resurfacing or
ball rejuvenation. Each tier
requires a three-month minimum
subscription and renewals also
require a three-month minimum.
A look at the packages:
Tier 1 - Three hours of bowling
for the month. Cost $40/month (a
$75 value).
Tier 2 - Six hours of bowling, one
labor package per month and a
30% discount on lessons. Cost
$65/month (a $209 value).
Tier 3 - Eight hours of bowling,
two labor packages per month,
one CATS session per month and
a 30% discount on lessons. Cost
$95/month (a $350 value).
Bowlers who would like to
upgrade to a higher tier during
their subscription period would be
required to have a three-month
subscription at the new tier.

Camille McQueen leads Ruby Singles
at USBC Women's ChampionshipsCamille McQueen of Long Valley, N.J., vaulted into first place in Ruby
Singles at the 2011 United States Bowling Congress Women's
Championships on May 30.
McQueen rolled games of 230, 204 and 223 for a 657 scratch set at the
Oncenter Convention Center in Syracuse, N.Y., and an additional 15 pins
of handicap per game lifted her to a 702 handicap total. Renita Merritt of
Conyers, Ga., previously held the lead with 681.
After bowling under her 165 average in doubles, McQueen noticed other
bowlers around her were rolling strikes. That's when the right-hander real-ized her technique was off.
"My ball wasn't finishing," said McQueen, who bowls at Circle Lanes in
Ledgewood, N.J. "I was leaving washouts and splits. I couldn't figure out
why until I looked around and noticed they were all following through. So
I started concentrating on doing that, and it made all the difference in the
world."
McQueen, a 55-year-old high school chemistry teacher, has never
cashed in eight trips to the USBC Women's Championships, and she did-
n't realize she was in first place until a day later.
"We came back the next morning for our bracket money, and we saw the
scoreboard," McQueen said. "It was very exciting. I never imagined I'd
see my name atop the leaderboard. Not in a million years."
McQueen finished with a 505 series in team and 443 in doubles for a
1,605 scratch all-events total and 1,740 with handicap. Andrea Brown of
Greensboro, N.C., leads Ruby All-Events with 1,818.
The Ruby Division is for bowlers with averages of 150-179, and handi-
cap is 100 percent of 180.

ARLINGTON, Texas Del Ballard Jr., Wayne
Webb and Carol Gianotti have been elected to the
United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame in
the Superior Performance category.
The three bowlers join Jeff Richgels (Outstanding
USBC Performance), Roseann Kuhn (Meritorious
Service) and Cheryl Robinson (Veterans), who
were elected in November by the USBC Hall of
Fame Committee. The induction ceremony for the
2011 class will be July 1 at the Gaylord Texan
Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
Ballard, 47, of Keller, Texas, won 13 Professional
Bowlers Association Tour titles between 1987 and
1993, including the USBC Masters in 1988 and theFirestone Tournament of Champions in 1989. He
was No. 29 on the list of the 50 Greatest Players in
PBA History in 2008.
It feels great, and its a little bit of a relief,
Ballard said. After being on the ballot and not get-
ting in the last three years, I was wondering if it
was ever going to happen, or if maybe I didnt
deserve it. I felt like I belonged, but sometimes you
have an opinion of yourself that other people may
not agree with. Now, this shows that people feel
Im deserving, and Im extremely grateful.
Being a member of the USBC Hall of Fame has
been a dream for Ballard since he watched family
friend Bill Lillard Sr. of Houston get inducted in
1972. When Ballard joined the PBA Tour, he set his
sights on the PBA Hall of Fame as well.
Ballard, who also owns 17 PBA regional titles
and nearly $1.3 million in PBA career earnings,
made the PBA Hall of Fame in 2009, joined the
Dallas USBC BA Hall of Fame later that year and
was inducted into the Texas State USBC Hall of
Fame in 2010.
Also in 2010, he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer
but has had successful treatment.
In a way, this completes the circle for me, and
its a very nice feeling, Ballard said. This is a
very uplifting end to an emotional, roller coaster of
a year for me.
Webb, 53, of Columbus, Ohio, won 20 PBA Tour
titles from 1978-1997, including the Firestone
Tournament of Champions in 1980. He is among
the 50 Greatest Players in PBA History (No. 18)
and was elected to the PBA Hall of Fame in 1993.
When I got the phone call, I got pretty emotion-
al, and it was actually hard for me not to cry a little
bit, Webb said. It came as such a surprise that it
overwhelmed me and was hard to process. Of
course, its something you always hope for, but I
never thought it would happen this soon, if at all.
While Webb was a familiar face on the lanes for
more than three decades, he renewed his place in
the spotlight as a dominating player on the PBA
Senior Tour. He was named Rookie of the Year in
2008 and has claimed five titles, including three
majors.
In 2010, Webb was named PBA Senior Player of
the Year and joined Mark Roth as the only players
to earn PBA Tour and Senior Tour Player of the
Year awards during their careers.
When youre out there competing, you can only
hope to be considered among the best, said Webb,
who was the PBA Player of the Year in 1980.Earning both player-of-the-year awards was some-
thing I was proud to accomplish, and being induct-
ed into both halls of fame is incredible. Everyone
has a bucket list, and mine is now full.
Gianotti, 43, of Perth, Australia, won 16 Ladies
Pro Bowlers Tour/ Professional Women's Bowling
Association titles between 1989 and 2000, includ-
ing the 1989 USBC Queens. She teamed with Ann
Maree Putney to take the silver medal in doubles at
the 2009 World Tenpin Bowling Association World
Womens Championships.
This feels great, and its something that just tops
off my career, Gianotti said. It was a call that I
wasnt expecting, especially at a quarter past 5 in
the morning, but it was so worth it.
Gianotti has been part of three team titles at the
USBC Womens Championships and teamed with
Missy Klug to take the Scratch Doubles title in
2010.
To be recognized for something you love to do
and elected to something youve always had as a
goal is really special, Gianotti said. Del and I
have been talking about this a little bit lately, and
now we get to go in together. I wouldnt have it any
other way.
A USBC panel of veteran bowling writers, hall of
famers and board members vote on USBC Hall of
Fame nominees. This years ballot also included
David Husted, Milwaukie, Ore.; Amleto Monacelli,
Barquisimeto, Venezuela; David Ozio, Beaumont,
Texas; Tom Baker, King, N.C.; and Dede Davidson,
Buellton, Calif.
The USBC Hall of Fame was created in 2005 by
merging the former ABC and WIBC Halls of Fame.
With the six new inductees, there will be 385 mem-
bers of the USBC Hall of Fame 254 in
Performance, 112 in Meritorious Service and 19
Pioneers.
