Grade 4 Accountability Pillar Survey
A request and reminder go out to parents of grade 4 students to please complete and return the Accountability Pillar Survey
mailed to you from Alberta Education. The Accountability Pillar Survey uses a set of 16 indicators consisting of surveys of
students (grade 4-6), parents (of students in grade 4), and all teachers on various aspects of quality and satisfaction with
measures such as: Student Learning Opportunities, Safe and Caring Schools, Student Preparation for Lifelong Learning,
Parental Involvement and Continuous Improvement.
As always, your feedback as a parent (especially as a parent of a grade 4 student for the purpose of the survey) is crucial in
helping Ross Glen School continue to improve as a school community and to ensure that our students receive the high quality
educational experience and success in school that they deserve. All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experi-
ences with the school. Your opinion is important!
Parents of grade 4 students will receive a letter of explanation and greater clarification of what the Accountability Pillar Sur-
vey entails and what is happening at Ross Glen School. If you find that you “Do not know” or perhaps feel unsure of an answer,
feel free to ask Mr. King-Hunter or Mr. Kruger for clarification, or to learn what may already be in place at RG. If you have any
questions that cause you concern, please feel free to share your concerns with us as well. Survey results will be available to
school authorities in May, and will be reported publicly as part of their Education Plans and Annual Education Results Reports.
If you want more information, or have any concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Kruger or Mr. King-Hunter.
Principal’s Message – Mr. King-Hunter
We are now half way through the school year and have had a lot of tremendous opportunities and learning experiences thus far. With the support of the RG Parent/School Advisory Council and funding from the RG Parent Association, we look forward to even more assemblies, guest performances and field trips in the remaining five months. The support and participation of RG families is truly appreciated!
Registration Day is Thursday, February 1st for the 2018-19 school year. In order to help the school to be able to plan and staff accordingly for next year, it is vital that we get all students’ registration forms back to the school by Thursday, February 15th. Even if you are not planning to have your child attend Ross Glen School next fall, we need to know that as well, so we can minimize the surprises in the fall. Your cooperation is appreciated!

Dear Parents,
Many of you have had questions about how the
Hot Lunch Program work. For your information
the programs are outlined below.
HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
Each meal (incl. entrée, drink, fruit/vegetable, and dessert)
costs $6.00, with most additional entrees adding another
$3.00. An entrée alone may not be purchased without paying
for the whole meal.
Just A Reminder: The kitchen does NOT provide FORKS or SPOONS
for students who have not purchased a meal from the Hot Lunch Program.
If you send a lunch from home requiring one of these, please remember
to include one. Also please try NOT to send $20.00 bills for purchases
from the kitchen.
If you have any questions, please contact
Mrs. Nickel at the school. (403-529-2960)
VALENTINE’S DAY – Valentine’s Day
activities will take place on Wed, Feb 14th
in the afternoon. Your child’s teacher will let your child know what activities will be taking place.
After reading the bulletin with your student please return this portion for our monthly draw. (Draw box in hallway
outside of the office).
My child(ren),
in Grade(s) A / B / C, and I have read the
Road Runner Reporter.

FEBRUARY SAFETY PATROL SCHEDULE
AMA SCHOOL PATROL SAFETY
REMINDER FOR PARENTS:
Safety Patrollers Do Not Control Traffic!
The AMA School Safety Patrollers have been keeping kids safe since 1937 and in the entire history of the program there has never been a fatality. Safety Patrollers are taught to be safe at all times and ensure that the crosswalks are safe for all children to cross. AMA School Safety Patrollers DO NOT control traffic, they make crosswalks safe for children to use.
PLEASE SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR YOUR CHILDREN BY CROSSING AT CROSSWALKS and NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET and by NOT PARKING IN ANY “NO PARKING” ZONES IN THE
PARKING LOTS AND ON THE STREET.
ROSS GLEN STUDENT PLEDGE
I pledge to show good character in my school.
I will be kind and responsible and follow every rule.
I will show self-control, discipline, courtesy and respect.
I will treat others with kindness,
the way I would expect to be treated.
I will always act in fairness.
I will do what I must to keep Ross Glen School a caring
place that is safe for us all.
Dress for the Weather
It is important for all students, but especially patrol-lers, to dress for cold weather (i.e. winter coat, mitts, boots, toque, etc.) every day. If they are comfortable, it is much easier to focus on the important job of keeping an eye on traffic and crossing pedestrians
safely.
Winter Road Conditions – It is not uncommon to have ice or snow-covered roads in the winter. It takes a
vehicle longer to stop when roads are slippery.
Patrollers, remember to watch for "sliding' traffic and
stay back from the curb!
