First Presbyterian Church members donate to animal shelter in Liberal!!

Liberal Animal Shelter receives needed

Supplies!!The First Presbyterian Church members smile for the camera at the Liberal Animal Shelter Thursday afternoon, January 9. The First Presbyterian Church donated supplies, such as blankets, food, cleaning goods, cat littler and towels.

Organizer member Kristina Brown, said that this was the first year for the church to ever do this event.

Dear Presbyterian Church,

Its often difficult to find “Good News”- news that makes us smile or gives us hope.

Recently I read some “good news” and I’ve enclosed it inside with this card.

Being an animal lover, I thank your Church for the compassion and the generosity you showed in donating food and supplies to the Liberal Animal Shelter, these animals have often times been cast aside by someone and they need help. They are totally dependent on us.

A special Thank You to Kristine Brown for her willingness to take on this job. Involving children is a such a good idea, to teach them gentleness and kindness to animals.

God bless your Church and all your efforts in this New Year!!

I pray others will be inspired by your example.

Lynne Riney

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to

Friends and Family of Alberta

I wanted to let you know how my mother is doing since she moved here to the St. Louis, MO. Area in August 2012. She is not able to write the very newsy letters you looked forward to receiving in the past. Sorry.

Alberta, who is very proud to have reached the golden age of 93, is living a contented life in a very nice Dementia/Alzheimer’s Assisted Living Residence just minutes from our home. They have a very nice activity director that keeps Mom busy. Since she is so close we are able to visit her almost daily. We are very grateful and blessed to be able to spend this time with her. Mom is happy most days and greets us with a big smile.

She enjoys (and can read along) all mail that she receives. Just today we were reading a Christmas card and she remembered exactly who sent it and where they lived.

Mom likes all the letters and cards my sister Cathy sends. Cathy (a teacher’s aide in Oklahoma) comes to visit Mom when she can during the school year and summer break.

Her current mailing address is:

Alberta Chapmanc/o Gary Chapman5 Tailing Wheel Ct.St. Peters, Mo. 63376

We all wish you the best of holidays and a Happy New Year.

First Presbyterian Church Pre-School and

Day Care Center“And the greatest of these is love.”

During the month of February we focus on this thing called love. All the children in the child-care center have love enough for anyone who walks through the church door. Children have a way of giving it to everyone they meet in just the way we need it. Adults could lean something from them!!

That being said we would like to invite church members to stop in anytime. If you have a talent, hobby, story, song, devotion, etc. that you would like to share with us, please call at 620-624-1616 to set up a time with Becky.

We would like to thank all those who helped us put on our first Christmas program ever!! It was truly enjoyed

by all the families and friends who attended.

The children have also visited the residents of Wheatridge Park Care Center and Good Samaritan Center and plan to go back again soon.

During our chapel time once a week we have been very fortunate and blessed to have some ministers from Liberal teach us about Jesus and his love for all.

Through much love, time, effort, and support we now have our permanent license for the day-care center and preschool!

Our preschool program started January 13 and the teacher is Rose Ramirez.

We just can’t say it enough, Thank You!!

May the love of God wash over you this month of February!!

Becky Pfenninger,

Director of The First Presbyterian Church Pre-School and Day Care
