4. CAP is available to help with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CA Dream Act (Financial Aid applications) any Monday and Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. in BE 24. We will also have another FAFSA and CA Dream Act Workshop this Wednesday the 20th during third and fourth period in the library. Come to the student center for a list of materials that you need to bring to the workshop.

5. The Center for Student Financial Aid at Call State L.A. is pleased to offer financial aid application workshops (FAFSA) for the 2019-2020 academic year. All students are welcome to attend any of the workshops. The following one is this Wednesday, February 20th, from 10am-11am in room 307. No need to RSVP. For more information call (323) 343-6260.

6. Hawaii Pacific University will be here on campus this Thursday, February 21, during 5th period in room BE24. If interested, come to the student center and sign up.

7. Blair Juniors: College Access Plan's free, 8-week SAT prep course will run on Thursdays in BE24 from Feb. 28 - April 25. The SAT exam is required for admission to most colleges and universities. You can pick up and drop off applications in BE24 on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3-5 PM, or email [email protected]. Completed applications are due to CAP by this Thursday, February 21.

8. Seniors do you have any selfies of you or you and your friends. If you do, please send them to Mrs. Martinez at [email protected]. We are in need of your selfies for the yearbook. Especially from the International Academy. Deadline: this Friday February 22nd.

9. This Friday Blair will host a Winter Casual: February 22, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the amazingly decorated gym. The cost is $10 in advance, $15 at the door (including $5 worth of food at the dance - additional food tickets are available inside).

10. PCC is hosting their Spring Symposium Building Bridges “From High School to College, Career and Beyond”. Building Bridges will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 9am-12pm in the Creveling Lounge. Workshops include Financial Aide, Transfers, Job Market Trends, Parent 101, and many more. There will be on-the-spot enrollment in PCC Pathways Program!

11. Los Angeles Trade Technical College will be hosting Super Saturdays for students who need to complete an application, apply for financial aid, complete orientation and/or speak with a counselor. 12. The American Legion Post #280 is inviting all junior boys to participate in the American Legion Boys State Conference sponsored by CSU Sacramento. Participants learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of franchised citizens. The training is objective and centers on the structure of city, county and state governments. Operated by students elected to various offices, Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs. American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. It is a participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county and state government. Come to the student center for an application. Deadline to apply is February 22, 2019.

13. It's not too late for students interested in Mount Saint Mary's University to register for our upcoming Application Days! They will meet with an admission counselor and receive an admission decision if their file is complete. Application fees and letters of recommendation will be waived for attendees. 17. Pasadena City College is hosting 3 workshops for High school students called STEM SATS. These are FREE 3 hour workshops for students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.) The workshops are on the following Saturdays, March 9, and April 27. All workshops are from 9am-12pm. 18. Middle Schoolers, it's time to begin the countdown to the Spring Fling! Our annual springtime party will take place Friday, March 29, from 6-8 p.m. There will be games and music and crafts and food. Start planning now to be sure you can be there to be part of the fun.

Stanford is offering summer programs across a wide variety of disciplines including arts, humanities, science, and math, giving highly motivated students the opportunity to investigate advanced topics not typically taught in secondary schools. Participants engage in small classes with brilliant instructors and peers who share their passions. Deadlines for our summer programs are in February, with some early round deadlines in January. 20. The Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC has developed a unique program to foster scientific achievement for rising high school seniors interested in clinical or research oncology. They are now accepting applications for their 9th Annual Junior Fellows Program. The FREE program begins on June 11th and requires the students to commit 6 hours a day until June 28th at the Health Science Campus of USC. Their former graduates have all really enjoyed their summer session and many have gone on to study medicine at top rated colleges. 22. The USC Summer Programs application has just opened! Choose from over 20 courses in multiple disciplines and topics all taught by USC faculty and staff. The City of Pasadena Human Services and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers who can assist elementary aged children (ages 8-12) with their math, reading, writing, and science homework after school. African-American seniors or descendants residing within the Pasadena, Altadena, or Sierra Madre school district can now apply to the 2019 scholarship award provided by the Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. The chapter focuses on educational and economic development, physical and mental health, and political and international awareness/involvement. 3. The 2019 scholarship application from the Eta Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Pasadena/Altadena/San Gabriel Valley) will award six scholarships this year valued at a minimum of $2,000 each and one four-year award in the amount of $5000 to college-bound African American graduating seniors. The application must be typed and postmarked by February 25, 2019. Students can go to http://aka-elo.org and click on "Scholarship" to download the application. 4. The Asian Pacific Fund administers 10 scholarship programs, each with unique eligibility criteria. Scholarship amounts range from $1000 to $20,000 and many are renewable. Incoming or current college students of any ethnic backgrounds can apply. Application deadline is February 26, 2019. Visit their website at www.asianpacificfund.org/scholarships for complete criteria.

5. Are you 16 years of age or older and a resident of the United States? Then you can apply to the $1000 award from the “You Deserve it Scholarship”. Applications can be found at

6. If you are 13 years of age or older and enrolled or plan to enroll in a college or university in the United States, you can apply to the $1,000 Clarion Scholarship. Applications can be found at https://scholarshipbuddycalifornia.com Deadline: February 28, 2019.

7. Would you like your artwork featured by the leading publisher of premium quality cards in the United States? Are you creative? If you are, then enter to the 12th annual Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest. The award amount is $10,000 plus $1000 for your school. All you have to do is submit an original photo, artwork or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. Designs should be appropriate for business and consumer use, such as birthday or Christmas cards. Must be your own original work. This is one of the easy scholarships for artistic students! 8. The CSEA Scholarship Awards Program is proud to provide financial assistance to deserving dependents of CSEA members. CSEA offers 53 scholarships of $1,000 dollars to dependents. The application is now available on line at www.csea.com/scholarships Deadline to apply is March 1, 2019.

9. META’s Scholarship Application 2019 is now online and open. META Scholarships are as follows: Platinum Scholarship: This scholarship provides up to $6,000, payable over four years, to entering college freshmen attending four-year colleges and universities. Gold Scholarship: This scholarship provides up to $2,000, payable over four years, to either four-year College or university students or to community college students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution in the fall. Student must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident of Hispanic origin. Deadline is Friday, March 1, at midnight. All submissions must be done online at www.meta-foundation.org. 10. The Pasadena – Altadena Chapter of Links, Inc. is announcing the 2019 Isaac McClelland Memorial Scholarship & the JPL scientist Dr. Claudia Alexander Memorial Scholarship. The students of Pasadena Unified School District are the recipients of these scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000. African American students entering a 2 or 4 year college or university in September 2019 are eligible. See your counselor for the application. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 8, 2019.

11. Attention Graduating Seniors: The "Italian Catholic Federation" offers $400.00 scholarships to Roman Catholic graduating seniors of Italian descent who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. 12. Grand Chapter of California Scholarship – $5,000 – 6 Awards (Deadline: March 15, 2019).
