Making a commitment is neither easy nor

simple. We have second thoughts and doubts;

temptations to go back on the choices we’ve

made. Jesus stuggled to know and accept His

calling during His 40 days in the desert after His

Baptism. This Lenten season is our time for us

to reflect on our own Baptismal calling and ask

for the courage to complete it.

When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from Him for a time. Luke 4:13

First Reading from Deuteronomy 26: 4-10

This is how the chosen people are to confess their faith.

Second Reading from Romans 10: 8-13

All who believe in Christ will be saved.

Gospel from Luke 4: 1-13

Jesus was tempted in the desert

SUNDAY OF LENT

“So often, our own sins and failings seem to be an obstacle in

encountering the love of our Lord, preventing us from taking the

steps towards authentic and renewed conversion. Yet Jesus came

not to call the righteous, but sinners. He is the Good Shepherd

who seeks out the lost, the physician who comes to heal the sick.

And one of his first acts after the Resurrection was to entrust to

the Church the power to forgive sins in his name. Thus, in order to

undergo an authentic and renewed conversion, and to encounter

the Love of God, a focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation – this

most powerful encounter with divine mercy – is essential.” -

Thomas Cardinal Collins. From March 6 to 12, 2016, each parish in

the Archdiocese of Toronto will be holding a Day of Confessions.

Confessions at our parish will be on March 8

(Tuesday) 2:00pm-4:00pm & 7pm-9pm.

designed for the many ‘non-Catholic Christians’ who attend our

Masses on a regular basis and are already catechised in the basics

of the Christian faith.

We are personally inviting you to these sessions where you can

find-out what “WE” Catholics are all about and what we actually

teach. You might be pleasantly surprised.

If interested, please leave your name and phone number at the

office and you will be contacted by one of our catechists.

SHARELIFE

Together we are continuing to work wonders… “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.” Matthew 5:7 Our Lord encourages us with a timely reminder about what

our actions truly should be – to show mercy to others. Does showing mercy mean to take the time delivering food

for the local food bank in our neighbourhood? Do we have time to help by serving on a weekend in the

soup kitchen in our city or praying for a family who is dealing with a personal crisis?

Or maybe the refugee family needs some volunteer help resettling their family to a new life here in Canada.

In essence, ShareLife becomes that connective bridge between the pulpit and the street. When we are called to action in the Catholic community, we know of so many ways we can make a difference by working together in the lives of those in need. Annually, we share in helping over 114,000 individuals, thanks to the support received through our collective efforts. Please help us celebrate our ShareLife’s 40th anniversary by supporting our annual Archdiocesan appeal during this Lenten season! Sunday March 13, 2016 is ShareLife Sunday
