Typical Process1. Perform initial system assessment and
analysis of features used in current system (GE Sales Engineer and Channel Partner discussions with customer about initial discovery and go forward options)
2. If no initial showstoppers, move to next step by running “Prequalification Tool” on customers current database. (Report results sent to GE Sales Engineer)
3. GE Sales Engineer analyzes results and gives disposition to Channel Partner… Go or No Go.
4. If Go, Sales Engineer provides upgrade quotation to Channel Partner.

Preparing Your Customer Upgrade Strategy
1. Identify your target Sapphire/Diamond customers to approach with a comprehensive security system technology refresh plan. (In current economic times, if customers are properly informed… they are more likely to consider an upgrade that can maximize their installed hardware infrastructure investment; versus a rip and replace to address unmet needs or critical system deficiencies)
2. Request to perform a system analysis that will help determine if they are a candidate for a platform upgrade to FCWnx at this time. (Providing them FCWnx collateral with upgrade benefits should facilitate a “Yes” to the no obligation analysis request)
3. Collect system data and submit with “IGS Upgrade Prequalification” request form for review and recommendations. (GE Security Sales Engineering will assist with pre-conversion qualification tools, performing gap analysis, and quoting all aspects of proposed upgrades)

Supported Modules
Yes, run a “Panel Status” report and confirm all ACU controller firmware versions are 3.xx or higher
Do I need to look for a minimum ACU firmware version to validate compatibility?
Incompatible Legacy
(EOL)ACU2
ACUR2ACUR4
ACUVision
ACURT
What are my options if I find some of these ACU controllers on a customers system?
ACUR2 requires complete replacement with ACURS2, ACUR4 requires complete replacement with ACURS4(Not same footprint design)No alternate direct replacement is available. ACUXL and an appropriate GE DVR/NVR replacement need to be considered and aligned with customer video strategy
Did I ever
install ACURTs
?
ACURT Series controllers are not supported

Other System Upgrade Considerations
OpportunitySapphire & Diamond
FC Wnx
Photo ID Imaging Peripherals
Possible legacy capture cards, signature pads, or printers not having standard interfaces & current windows driver support
Standard TWAIN/USB interface support and Windows printer driver support for a wide variety of the most common imaging printer brands
ACU Controller Communications
•Server serial port to head of line•Downstream multi-drop*•Dial-up
All ACU controllers provide direct 10Mb LAN connectivity on-board without additional cost. For best performance and maximum flexibility, converting to LAN deployments is recommended.
Access Control Readers
Legacy Magstripe or Wiegand Swipe readers
GE Transition Series Multi-Technology Readers
* Downstream multi-drop ACU configurations should be limited to a maximum of four (4) ACU controllers per line. For best performance and maximum flexibility, converting to LAN deployments is recommended.

The Prequalification tool is 12MB zipped. It generates 6 files - 3 reports in 2 formats: TXT and HTML. The reports are in the root directory "DII_FC Wnx evaluation tools".
The 6 report files are:<hostname>_SystemProfiler.html DIIRECCOUNTExt.txt<hostname>_DBFieldsReport.html DIIDxExt.txt<hostname>_MiscReport.html DIIMiscReportExt.txt
System Profiler (number of records in each table by partition)
Database Fields Report (if a GO, this is for Tech Support/Eng)
Results Report (most beneficial to Sales Eng – feature report)

1. Update current Sapphire/Diamond system software and ACU hardware to minimum requirements. Flash ACUs with FC Wnx 7.5-compatible firmware. Perform pre-conversion preparations.
2. ACU controller communications recommended to be via direct LAN onboard for maximum benefit of FCWnx hosting and failover capabilities
3. Install new FCWnx Server(s) and Clients on LAN and license system appropriately, validate network connectivity OK in Workgroup or Domain deployment
4. Convert Database on FCWnx server, perform any necessary manual programming for items not covered under the conversion utility
5. Take ACUs off-line in Sapphire/Diamond, bring them on-line in FCWnx from Controller Monitor
6. Confirm all is OK, and in FC Wnx system parameters, turnon FCWnx ACU protocol lock
7. Retain access to Sapphire/Diamond server for history reporting as needed
If it’s a Go.. Typical Upgrade & Migration Process
If you are not yet FCWnx trained & certified…GET TRAINED!
Prepare for the Opportunities Ahead
Your first FCWnx installation should not be a customer upgrade or Global Edition…Start with a couple of small Professional Edition systems to build expertise, plan and practice customer upgrade and conversions in-house on the bench before going live on-site.
Confidently know the features and capabilities that FCWnx offers to help you win business…Become familiar with the sale support tools, practice demonstration of key software features. Showing a customer a live and functional demonstration can and will close the deal against others who rely on product brochures.
