Family Focus ProjectInformation for Parents and Carers
Blackpool has a large number of families where substance misuse isproblematic. Living in fear and isolation can add to this burden. The FamilyFocus Project can help you address these problems, providing a wide rangeof emotional and practical support to yourselves and your family.
What the Project can offer you:• Individual family support for all members of your household.
• Emergency support plans.
• Trips and activities (dependent on your achievement of agreed targets).
• Signposting, guidance and information.
• Support will be provided at times to suit the family including someevening and weekend availability for support in conjunction with9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday hours. This will enable the wholefamily to be involved and will include one to one work with children ie. inschool.
• Time-limited support (initially 12 weeks).
Aims of the Project • To improve the physical, emotional and mental health and wellbeing offamilies.
• To recognise and understand your family’s ability to maximise its fullpotential.
The Family Focus Project works with familieswhere a parent or carer is experiencingsubstance misuse* issues or problems. Ourservice works with the whole family, offeringintensive support to all members of yourhousehold.
* ‘substance misuse’ means alcohol and/or drug use
• To work with the whole family to identify and achieve agreed familytargets.
• To support engagement (where appropriate) with other services e.g.substance misuse, mental health in order to improve your family life.
• Reduce the levels of isolation your family may be experiencing.
• Reduce the chances of your children becoming involved in substancemisuse themselves.
• To encourage positive family time.
In order to work with our service your familymust:• Live in Blackpool.
• Have a child/children aged 5+ living with you.
• Be willing to address your substance misuse problems and the impactthis has on yourself and your family.
