A two week training program was held for all the volunteers prior to the camp. This included eight of the older teenagers from the SOS Village

Activities included arts and handicrafts, sports, excursions, cooking classes, swimming, IT classes and more

The focus of the Summer Camp was three-fold:

To provide the children with fun, recreational activities and skills training to help boost their confidence and self-esteem.

To implement an “Inclusive Education” environment, as 75 deaf children were integrated with 175 hearing children in all the camp activities. Communication levels were high, with all the volunteers and orphan children learning and using sign language.

For the 75 volunteers, the goal was to cultivate young leaders and to instill in them a sense of community responsibility, as well as an attitude of care and concern for those who are less privileged.

Dr. Mohib shares a few moments of friendship with these deaf children at the FESF Summer Camp 2008

FESF is a non-profit, educational, volunteer organization established in Pakistan since 1984. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all members of the community, especially those who are disadvantaged.

We invest in the lives of the youth today to build the leaders of tomorrow by providing knowledge and character building education and guidance to help strengthen them, their families and their communities.

“I began working with FESF as a volunteer in 2003, eventually graduating to become a volunteer trainer and activity coordinator. This was not only enriching on a personal level, but also helped me professionally. I learned how to interact with others, and gained a better understanding of those less fortunate.

I felt very much a part of the FESF family, which gave me an added sense of belonging to the cause, resulting in a lasting friendship that will remain intact forever.”
