Yearly Apple Trip To

North Carolina

The leaves of North Carolina mountains will be at their peak the last two weeks of October, so get ready for some beau-tiful scenery. The group will depart from the church at 8:00am on October 23rd. There will be snacks and water on the bus. The group will visit some of the favorite orchards in the area around Henderson-ville. Some orchards have caramel ap-ples, apple cider, jellies, baked goods, vegetables and pumpkins in addition to many kinds of apples. After lunch, the bus will take us to Mountain Top Apples where we always find good apples, apple cider and cara-mel apples….and a beautiful view. Sign up in the hall if you would like to join the seniors for a delightful day.

Laura Jumper To Speak at

Metallic Club On Monday, October20th, the Metal-lic Club will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Laura Jumper, Parish Nurse, will meet with the group to talk about “Breast Cancer Awareness”. The meeting starts at 11:00am and after devotions and a business meet-ing, Laura will have some good in-formation for the group. Lunch is served around noon. Please remember to bring food for the GPS (God’s People in Service). There will be a collection box at the door to help feed the hungry in this area. Please bring only non-perishable items like canned goods, cereal, flour, sugar, rice, dried beans, etc.

Meredith Moments

I am truly excited about the coming year in our Church. First of all, Children’s Choir starts back on Octo-ber 15th. Jane Ann and I have a mini Christmas musical planned and we are anxious to get started with our young folks! The children’s choir age recommendation is from

ages 4 years to 5th grade. However, you may check with Jane Ann or me to see if your little one may be ready. We are always excited to have your children join us for performances here at SFBC.

After much listening, we have ordered the new Christmas cantata and will begin working on the music real soon. The title of the Christmas cantata is the “First Noel.” With that being said, now would be a great time to join the choir and experience the ministry of music in our church. The folks are won-derful, the conversation is great, and the music is out of this world! If this is an interest of yours, then do not hesitate and join Jane and I on any Wednesday nights at 8pm.

Have a wonderful OctoberJ In Christ, Chad

Student Ministry News We have had a great start to our “Kings and Queens” study. I would like to especially thank our leaders; Bill Granger, Wayne Grimsley, Gib Lackey, Lisa Dasher, Melanie Harmon, Cindy Grimsley, and Melodie Sharpe, for all the work they put into each session. All of the groups are going well and we are looking forward to what God might have in store for us through-

out this study. It is time to start thinking about and planning for our Chillipepper trip. Chillipepper will be January 22nd – 25th. Due to an increase in expenses we will have to increase the cost to go this year. The cost for a student will be $175 with a $50 deposit due to sign up. Each student will be able to earn the $125 balance through our fundraisers. Registration for Chillipepper will open on October 12th. We will be limited in space by our transportation so sign up early to reserve your spot. It is also time for Upward Basketball and Cheerleading to begin. Registra-tion is now in full swing. Be sure to register by October 10th to take advantage of the early registration discount. You can register and pay online at our website, www.swanseafbc.com or at www.226sports.com. If you choose not to pay online you can still register on the site and then pay in person at one of the evalu-ation days. The evaluation days will be Saturday, October 18 and 25 at the Swansea Senior Center gym. We look forward to you being a part of this minis-try this season. In Christ, John Harmon 2 Tim. 2:15 *****Don’t forget to check out the calendar for upcoming events*****

Preschool News & Tidbits

Our school year is off and running. The children are settling in nicely, still a few tears here and there but getting better every day! Currently we have 16 children enrolled. Yes, it would be ideal to have 5 more children and great if we had 10 or more, but I believe that God is in control and He will provide what we need bit through more enrollees or through other financial means as He sees fit. We still need to be praying for His will in this

ministry and for all who are involved, including the children.

Upcoming Events

October7th—Start date of Library Tuesdays Marlene Sturkie is coming to read to the children from the SFBC Library. We will be using the Swansea & Gaston Libraries as well.

October ??? - Fire Truck Visit

October 20th—Field Trip to Sease Farms/Pumpkin Patch

October 29th—Class Halloween Parties Thank you for all the prayers and support that we at the Preschool get! Keep them going up, God hears and will bless what we do!

Spotlight on a Swansea Baptist The spotlight this month is on Mr. Robert Ott. Robert has retired from Bell South and works hard with a lot of different ministries in our community. He leads the Emanuelwheel Ramp building in our area, he volunteers with the Plants for Bibles Ministry and volunteers at the God’s People in Service Food Distribution Center. He is very active in his Sunday School Class and is the Activity Chairperson. In his spare time he loves to fish and spend time at his house in North Charleston. He also helps take care of

his dad! We are honored as a church to have Mr. Robert Ott as one of our mem-bers! Thank you Robert for all you do!
