Save The TreesPillowcases that WrapDesigning bright and fancy pillowcases to use

as gift wrap is a unique idea but it takes a talented ladyto create the finished product. Crafter Beth Metcalf andher husband, Mike are celebrating ten years in the business of designing gift wrap for every occasion, madeonly from pillowcases.

Instead of cutting down trees to make gift wrapthat will be thrown away, Beth decided to be creative anddo something that would have a dual purpose - a wrapfor gifts and a pillowcase that would look pretty. Afterher husband's job loss they both started doing shows fulltime and are enjoying the change.

This Edgerton, Ohio couple will be located inbuilding D, booths 8 and 9 at the Christmas in OctoberCraft Show.

Crafter’s Miniature and CollectibleBusiness is a Family Affair

It’s “hard to believe” says crafter Susan Smith that we are doing 25 to 30shows a year and believes the only Cloud Production show she ever missed was thefirst “Christmas in October” craft show. That’s a great record and producer Judy Cloudthanks you for your support and dedication that help to make the shows the best in thefield of craft shows. Crafter Smith said, “We now have three generations involved withbuilding bird houses, shelves, paper towel holders, sconces, wooden snowmen and somany more items to numerous to mention.” You’ll be sure to find everything you’relooking for, for those special people on your holiday gift giving list. Susan and herhusband will be located in building B booth 14 through 16 at the Cloud Production25th anniversary Christmas in October craft show.

CANCER, six letters with big ramifications, became a large part of our lives this summer. Asmany of you already know Dean, my husband, was diagnosed with lung cancer in May. Junebegan with the start of treatment, throw in a hospital stay and a whole myriad of emotions.July brought my wonderful, helpful mother to be with us. August has brought some semblanceof normalcy. Dean is learning to rest and take his treatments. All in all, he is doing verywell. “Taking it easy” has never been a part of his vocabulary, but he is learning his limitsquickly. His strength, resiliency, and good humor have been amazing. He is still the foundation that I rely on.

My mother, what can I say other than “THANK YOU”! She is always available when I need her and at this time Ineed her more than even I realized. She was a huge help in getting the Show News stories put together, cookingand laundry. She kept Dean comfortable and smiling and that is worth more than anything. Thank you again,Lainey.

Heather has been a rock since all this transpired. She has gone to doctor appointments with us andhas become the ears that hear when our minds are swimming with all this new information. A new gentleman has entered her life recently and, maybe someday soon, we will introduce a new member ofour family. Evan is keeping busy with school and football. Standing over 4 feet tall, he is growinginto quite a young man. (He enjoyed being a pirate after his face paint at the Findlay spring show).

Danielle and her family are still in the Columbus area and the two grandbabies are not “babies”any longer. Mackenzie is now almost 3 and Maddie is 1 1/2. I try to visit as much as possible and, when visits are not possible, there are many phone calls! Danielle and Cliff areboth settling into civilian life and corporate America. There favorite thing is spending timewith their girls and friends.(These two cuties are modeling their new Minnie winter hats thatmommy bought them at the August Noblesville show...Addy Lu Tutus will be in the MuncieNovember show this year, too)

Dustin is finding fatherhood very rewarding! His little guy, Austin just turned one. With a new job and family there is little extra time. Since they are just down theroad, we get to see this little guy quite often and he is quickly becoming a little John Deere fan.

My youngest son, Ken, is in the Dayton area working as a technology consultant for Booz AllenHamilton. He is supporting an US Air Force supply chain management project at

Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He is finding corporate America and the US Government veryinteresting. I am excited to watch him grow and as you can see to the right he always wanted tobe in charge. This pic was stashed in the vast amount of photos and is very special to me. Thisis my Dani and Ken (Mac) with their Pap Pap helping at one of the early shows.

And last but not least, this paper is dedicated to my wonderful father, who while no longer here inbody, is still very much a part of my heart. A prolific businessman, he just knew what needed tobe done and how to do it. In my adult years, I tried to learn as much from him as I possibly could.I have taken that knowledge and transferred it to my Art, Craft and Marketplace shows. I know he would be proud of the shows and successful business I have created.

Thank you for sharing in this show and I truly hope you enjoy it! We’ll see you in October!

Always in Loving Memory of my dad, Daniel Buser

Shesaid a cheap quality brush was included but that it wasreally, really cheap! “It didn’t take much talent paintingby numbers”, she said, “but it did teach me to have asteady hand.” As time went by little artist Kay movedon to bigger things like artex tube painting and justnever gave up.

Some years later she then had the opportunity

to try a decorative painting class and this gal was totally hooked. Artist Kay bought books and continuedthe learning process deter-mined to learn everythingshe could and that, thislady did! Today as a busi-ness owner of Kay’s LittlePlace she and her husbandwork closely together. Kaypaints new pieces that shepurchases while her husband cuts various wood items. They all get her artistic touch including old tin and oldwooden pieces that she restores and paints.

Crafter Morrison said “I’ve done Judy’s“Christmas in October” craft show since it began 25years ago.” That’s remarkable Kay! You have a gift thatkeeps gifting for the enjoyment of others. ProducerJudy Cloud thanks you and your wonderful husband forbeing faithful and dedicated exhibitors who have helpedto make our showspossible.

Our Silver Exhibitors Celebrate Their 25th Anniversary with Cloud Productions!

Child's Paint By Number Kit Was Crafter's Humble Beginning

Page 10: Fall 2012

The Homestead Collection has been on boardwith Cloud Production Craft Shows since its first show, 25years ago. Yes, a quarter century of shows. OwnersBonnie and Kreg Schey of Findlay Ohio said it started asjust a part-time job when the business name was “AfterHour Country Crafts.” They exhibited at craft showsalmost every weekend and in 1988 became exhibitors atCloud Production yearly shows. After years of setting upand taking down, Kreg decided he wanted a permanent location. His dream came true with the purchase of undeveloped land off of I-75 from the Findlay locatedJeffrey’s Antique Mall, where they built a timber framedstore made from wood from razed barns.

The new store opened its doors in December of1995. Its location is easy access to travelers and a greatbenefit is Ohio’s largest antique mall upfront of it. Thisadded an extra shopping experience for all the visitorscoming to the area.

With their 17th Christmas season approaching, the Homestead Collection provides items for every homestyle and price range. From just one store, they havegrown to a village of shops with a makeup of ten build-ings. Most of the buildings have been moved here from

original properties. The largest of thebuildings is a 70 year-old barn featuring allof the original tim-bers. Home furnish-ings and décor fill thebarn and is redecoratedfor each holiday season. The mainstore in the village fea-

tures name brands such as: Camilla, Stephan Joseph,Kameleon, Vera Bradley, Ohio State, John Deere, andWillow Tree. This shop is considered to be the “boutique”showing the latest trends and styles in jewelry and gifts.

The “Beet House” is the garden style shop items, while the Granary is the sale items building. The SummerKitchen houses the food dips and related items such ascookbooks, cutting boards, and many other items toonumerous to mention. The newest building is home to“old stuff.” The family loves to go “pickin’” and createmany new items from what many would consider trash. They travel to in-state auctions and Amish family homesto try to find items that are unique to the store.

The Homestead Collection creates a very relaxingatmosphere for shopping. In April, they have a Springseason open house, while Labor Day weekend provides aFall season open house. An excitingChristmas open house is held inNovember. These events keep customerscoming back year after year to enjoysomething they rarely find anywhere innorthern Ohio and surrounding areas.Customer service and constant changesof displays is a priority of HomesteadCollection.

Cloud Production promoterJudy Cloud applauds HomesteadCollection for 25 years of dedication asa long-time exhibitor in our shows. TheHomestead Collection display will belocated in building “B”, booths 9 thru11 at the Christmas in October Craft Show on October 6and 7.

Proudly Made in the U.S.A UniqueHoliday and Traditional Leather Door

Hangers with Brass Plated Bells Craftedby “Bellmeister”

Welcome all your holiday guests with a uniquepremium leather holiday door hanger that will add a fes-tive touch to your holiday decorating this yuletide sea-son. Your friends will love these colorful little handpainted and designed cutout Santas, snowmen, hollyleaves,

Christmas trees andmany others created by a smallfamily business in 1989 by thename of Bellmeister. DaveEberhart, whose father started thebusiness, his mom Sandy andseveral other women who make upthe small business, all work in some phase of it. Dadmakes the leather pieces while mom and several ofwomen hand paint each hanger. The door hangers can befound in many shops throughout Ohio and surroundingareas. Each piece is hand cut, hand assembled and handpainted. Each piece of leather is different so each bell isslightly different but the cutout designs remain consistent. Brass plated and solid brass bells are used onthe leather products. The door hangers are produced inwide variety of shapes, colors and also a rusty line thatgives a primitive or antique touch.

“Our new products help to fuel our sales” saidcrafter Eberhart. Each year they try to create a new

product. In 2010 they produced acrow with either a black or a

rusty bell. In 2011, fournew items were marketed,a primitive sheep, amaple leaf, a lobster anda pineapple. In 2012 a

rooster was added alongwith a cross, a ghost and a

black scary cat. Recently, anothernew item has been created. A “buckeyebell” which is abrown buckeye bell attached to red and gray suede hasgotten a lot of raves. The Bellemeister leaves no stoneunturned and knows what market to reach. Booth #6 inbuilding B is a must stop shop for all your holiday giftsand decorating needs. Your children will love them, too. They make great stocking stuffers!

Retired Teacher Finds Her Niche Creating Santas After a Shopping Trip

No holiday figure is as instantly recognizable as this red suited icon, who has inspired a galaxy ofChristmas decorations past and present. It was back some twenty years ago when a retired teacher bythe name of Vivian Summeier happened to visit a gift shop and was inspired by a Santa doll that shesaw there. She liked what she saw and began thinking that she could make her own Santa doll. With alittle ingenuity and time on her hands she began to experiment with creating a Santa figure. Today she

is a doll maker. Her creations feature soft cloth bodied Santas with ceramic heads andhand-painted facial features in a variety of expressions. Her Victorian Santas dressed
