INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Faith UMC Family and Friends,

Isaiah 43:19

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive

it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

What an exciting month that March has been. March began

with Ash Wednesday services as a drive-up experience and an interest-

ing one at that! Throughout the month there has been: special music,

a concert, a Small Group outing in Midland, a visit from Dr. Henna,

the Mobile Food Pantry Distribution, and even a surprise visit for the

second time this year by the D.S. David Kim. The Vacation Bible

School Group also came up with a theme (Hay Days) and the week of

August 7-11th for our 2017 VBS program!

April is going to be a great time at Faith UMC and the Cole-

man Community as well. April 8th is the Saginaw Bay District Leader-

ship Day formerly referred to as being Bishop’s Day. I am excited as

many are going to be in attendance from Faith UMC. Donna Clark

will be filling in for the Palm Sunday service on April 9th as your

pastor is taking a quick spring break. Come out and see the Liturgical

Dancers that Sunday too!

You will want to gear yourselves up for the weekend of the 15th

and 16th as Saturday brings on the Coleman Community Easter Scaven-

ger Hunt. The next morning, Faith UMC will celebrate Easter Sunday

with bringing in new membership with one baptism at the Faith UMC.

Faith UMC is continuing to work on making relationships

within our Coleman community in living out our vision. In a combined

effort there will be a special presentation from a Michigan State Police

Officer at Faith UMC on April 19th at 7:00 pm. Please join us for all

of these events this month!

All of you playing baseball and softball this spring the very best

of luck. Go Comets!

Happy Easter, Pastor Nate

FAITH UMC SCHOLARSHIPS

It is the time of year for our college students to be thinking

about scholarships for next year. Last fall FUMC received funds

from two anonymous donors for a scholarship fund and we

were able to award four $1000 scholarships to students who

attend our church or have family that attend.

We would like to repeat that this year. We will be seeking

donations for the scholarship fund very soon. We have two

anonymous donors this year who are willing to match up to

$3,000 in funding. So, if you would like to donate to the fund see Kathy Methner,

Chair of the Scholarship fund for information. And, if you know of a student or

students who would like to apply for a scholarship, the application will be on the FUMC

website or available in the narthex soon.

Faith UMC Youth. . .IN ACTION!

Week of Hope is packed with practical acts of love and service. Students build meaningful connections as they serve people through our strong partnerships

with local ministries and nonprofit organizations. They'll learn Christ-like empathy and compassion for others as they meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of disadvantaged children, youth, and adults.

As students serve in the name of Jesus, they’ll develop friendships with the people being served, with other teams, with their own youth group, and, most importantly, with Jesus. Denominational differences disappear as like-minded youth work together for a common purpose.

YOUTH MISSION TRIP 2017

JUNE 30-JULY 8/9

Open to anyone 3rd grade and above. Those younger are invited as well but must be

accompanied by a parent.

Hopewell Ranch located in Weidman is a non-profit organization that desires, through the

use of donated and rescued horses, to reach out to children and adults, as well as or

beloved Veterans, who may have emotional, spiritual, physical and social needs. It is their

goal to offer them unconditional love of a horse and caring staff, as an example of Christ's

love, to help facilitate healing and the restoration of hope for the future.

We have an opportunity to complete a project around the ranch, enjoy some time with the

animals, cook outside, relax around a bon fire, and sleep in their cabins. More details to

come. If you or you know of someone interested in participating in this mission trip please

tell Amy Hovey, Ryan Wood, or Shawn MacPhee.

Administrative Council

Meeting Highlights

The Administrative Council touched on some exciting and important topics this month

regarding Faith UMC connecting with and impacting the Coleman Community. Here are

March’s Highlights:

Vision: Karl Bauman is reaching out to groups within our church to share our vision and

what it means for Faith UMC to strive towards relevant acts of service in the Cole-man Community to reach people, where they are, to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. He has been welcomed by the Trustees, Finance Committee, and Staff Parish

Relations Committee and has been in contact with Missions, Men’s Club, Women’s Club,

and the Worship Committee to set dates for their presentations. Carla Long has also ask

him to reach out to the Youth Group to discuss our vision with them.

Discipleship: Shawn MacPhee announced that Vacation Bible School will be held the week

of August 7 through the 11. This year’s farm theme, “Hay Day,” is a perfect fit for our

community and is aimed at helping kids grow in friendship with Jesus. Please pray how

God will lead you to support this ministry as we reach out to the children in our

community with the good news of Jesus.

Trustees: Faith UMC will once again be hosting Ms. Bugh and her reading program at the

church this summer. Jerry Lewis mentioned Ms. Bugh is working with the ELKS

organization for some financial support and the program still needs $3,500. For more

information about the program or helping support the 51st year of this reading initiative

please contact Jerry.

Fish Dinner: In an ongoing effort to support vital missions within our church the Ad

Council discussed the Fish Dinner’s success of supporting our missions and establishing

relationships in our community in 2016. The Fish Dinner Committee will meet to set goals

and discuss possible challenges in 2017. Further discussion will take place at the May or

June Administrative Council meeting.

FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE AD COUNCIL MEETING YOU CAN FIND A

COMPLETE PRINTED COPY OF THE MINUTES ON THE TABLE OUTSIDE OF THE

OFFICE.
