FACCE-ERA-NET Plus Kick-off meeting Paris, 21.09.2015
Monitoring process Nicolas Tinois, JÜLICH, WP1 & FACCE-JPI Call Office
Reminder
• Coordinator is responsible for the monitoring and reporting of the project -> does not mean that partners may not provide input
• FACCE-ERA-NET+ under the umbrella of FACCE-JPI: aim is to implement (parts of) the StRA.
• The funded projects are considered to form part of an international research programme. In
addition to the reporting required by the national/organisational rules, project coordinators will be required to provide annual reports to the Steering Committee according to common templates which will be provided to them. The monitoring will be conducted during the life span of the project.
M&E Framework of FACCE-JPI
• Framework for monitoring and evaluation of FACCE-JPI and its joint actions published in September 2013:http://www.faccejpi.com/Document-library/Monitoring-and-Evaluation-Framework
The monitoring and reporting identifies 3 targets of FACCE-JPI: • Target 1. to improve the alignment of national and European research programmes, • Target 2. to increase high quality transnational research activities within food security,
agriculture and climate change • Target 3. to improve the societal impact on the challenge of food security, agriculture and
climate change.
To be monitored: joint actions including (but not only) funding activities -> research projects Mid-term and end-term reports are an essential input for the evaluation of FACCE-JPI! • “Key questions” are defined to provide an answer to “Did FACCE-JPI make progress towards
Target X” • Answer to key questions by getting indicators • Indicators assessed by input e.g. from research project
Common Template for mid-term
• Template developed to be common to all research projects under umbrella of FACCE-JPI • + most of the collected data are quantitative (e.g. number of companies, of peer-review
articles + self-evaluation according to a scale 0-5) -> make statistical analysis.
• Template to be slightly adapted for each joint action, e.g. data specific to Climate Smart Agriculture and/or to projects funded in this frame: to be discussed
• Reporting will be made online by the coordinator; link will be provided
• Lists (e.g. of peer-review articles) to be sent as an annex (a template will be sent)

• Mid-term reporting in Fall 2016 • End-term reporting in the beginning/mid of 2018 • Common kick-off meeting of research projects from the FACCE-ERA-NET+
call: Sept. 2015 • Common mid-term meeting: 2016/17 (to be discussed) • Common end-term meeting: mid 2018 (date to be discussed).
Time schedule
• Projects should take into account any European regional specificity, with their own geographic and socio-economic characteristics, differing in the vulnerability of their soil and water resources, their agricultural products and local agri-food industries: Number of European regions considered by your project?
• Data management policies and plans, which should be in accordance with
relevant standards and community best practice: quantity of data managed/stored/shared? Quality of data management?
• Other specificity common to your projects?
Discussions: potential examples of specificities for FACCE-ERA-NET+
Thank you for your attention!
