Explanation of app

1
Linear Momentum App The app will explain the concept of momentum using some very simple game. It will allow the user to give an object a value for its momentum. The app will then do some 2D collisions with the objects and the momentum will then be transferred to another object. This object will need a specific momentum value to reach a goal and to clear the level. This will explain the concept of momentum, because the user will need to think about how high the momentum of the first ball needs to be to give the second ball the right momentum in the collision to reach the goal. The app will also display the momentum, velocity and mass values of the objects and the formula to calculate momentum, so the user has an idea of how momentum is calculated and how it can be changed. The principle of the game is based on air hockey, but it will also allow a user to truly understand the meaning of a momentum as a “mass in motion” or a “quantity of motion an object has”. The objects being moved will be different mass so that the user can see on the screen how much of a momentum two objects of different mass have got. Object will simply be rolling balls. The user will give velocity to the object by pressing down the ball the longer the pressure, the higher the velocity. This will also show that objects of a larger mass need more force to make them move. User will also be able to insert the digits in input fields. They can decide on the initial mass of an object, and also the velocity. Once the object starts moving, the app will be displaying momentum right above the object. The object will never move too fast as the user has to be able to read the number for momentum.

Linear Momentum App

The app will explain the concept of momentum using some very simple game. It will allow

the user to give an object a value for its momentum. The app will then do some 2D collisions

with the objects and the momentum will then be transferred to another object. This object

will need a specific momentum value to reach a goal and to clear the level. This will explain

the concept of momentum, because the user will need to think about how high the

momentum of the first ball needs to be to give the second ball the right momentum in the

collision to reach the goal.

The app will also display the momentum, velocity and mass values of the objects and the

formula to calculate momentum, so the user has an idea of how momentum is calculated

and how it can be changed.

The principle of the game is based on air hockey, but it will also allow a user to truly

understand the meaning of a momentum as a “mass in motion” or a “quantity of motion an

object has”. The objects being moved will be different mass so that the user can see on the

screen how much of a momentum two objects of different mass have got. Object will simply

be rolling balls. The user will give velocity to the object by pressing down the ball – the

longer the pressure, the higher the velocity. This will also show that objects of a larger mass

need more force to make them move.

User will also be able to insert the digits in input fields. They can decide on the initial mass

of an object, and also the velocity. Once the object starts moving, the app will be displaying

momentum right above the object. The object will never move too fast as the user has to be

able to read the number for momentum.
