Experiencing God through Healing

“Nag-init jud akong tibuok kalawasan, na gi-take-over na sa Holy Spirit akong lawas. Wala na ko naka-control. (My whole body just got heated up, and the Holy Spirit took over it. I wasn’t able to control.)

These were the words of Daisheryl Cañada, a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Family in Toril, Davao City, Philippines. During the healing part of the Holy Eucharist last November 8, 2015 at the said parish, she lost her consciousness while being prayed over by Fr. Jun Maturan, parish priest of the Church of the Holy Family, Fr. Estanly Castillo and Bro. John _____. (pakiinsert surname Fr.Christian) According to Daisheryl, she really felt the Holy Spirit inside

her, to which she surrendered. She even describes that experience as an unexpected blessing to her.

The same thing happened to her aunt, parishioner Josephine Fabon. Like her niece, Josephine also claims that the Holy Spirit took over her body and was really happy about it. She felt that she was being blessed and was being freed from all the pains she was going through.

Witnessing these experiences made me realize that God has been present all throughout our lives. In our rational minds, we might be skeptical about people losing their consciousness and falling off the floor during healing sessions,

branding them as actor wannabes seeking attention. Yet, it is a no since He has being working miracles

since time immemorial. It always takes an open mind and a faithful heart to see the wonders Jesus has been doing for us out of his love for us.

On this fateful event, not only Daisheryl and Josephine but also the parishioners and the clergy were able to experience God through healing. May this set an example for us to surrender ourselves to God and He will do the rest.
