5G radiation and the COVID-19 pandemic: Coincidence or causal relationship

Two documents reprinted on [1], each argue that there are reasons to think that 5G radiation is greatly stimulating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and therefore, an important public health measure would be to shut down the 5G antennae and particularly the small cell 5G antennae in close proximity to our homes, schools, businesses, house of worship and hospitals.

The first of these documents [1] published by Milleret al., concerns the impact of 5G radiation on the immune system of the body and also suggests that 5G radiation may also increase the replication of the virus. In both of these ways, 5G radiation may be expected to make the COVID-19 pandemic much worse.

The second of these documents [1] is my own and is derived from a larger document on 5G radiation effects [2]. It starts with the history of 5G in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic. Wuhan is China’s first 5G “smart city” and is the location of China’s first 5G highway where 5G radiation is being used to test self-driving vehicles. Approximately 10,000 5G antennae were installed and activated in Wuhan in 2019, with approximately 75 to 80% of these installed and activated in the last 2 ½ months of the year. The epidemic was first detected near the beginning of that 2 ½ month period and became vastly more severe, with extremely large increases in numbers of cases and in deaths by the end of 2019. That may, of course be coincidental. The death rate in other parts of China from COVID-19 infections has been substantially lower than that in Wuhan with its unparalleled high numbers of 5G antennae (Xu et al., BMJ 2020; 368:m606) –that of course could also be coincidental.

South Korea, which became the site of the worst epidemic outside of China, has large numbers of 5G antennae all over the country. The Milan area of Italy, currently, the worst epicenter in Europe also is a 5G center. And Seattle area, which was the worst area in the U.S. is also a major 5G area. New York City has become the largest epicenter in the US is another 5G site. These non-Chinese epidemic areas are not discussed in my paper, but these findings are accurate. Again, the locations of these epicenters in 5G areas may be coincidental.

These figures add to the argument that 5G radiation may have a substantial role in exacerbating the COVID-19 pandemic – they are not definitive however and we must look to the mechanism of action of EMFs and the evidence that other EMFs produce similar, if less severe effects which are similar to but less severe than what we are apparently seeing following 5G exposure.

Electromagnetic fields, including the highly pulsed and therefore highly dangerous 5G millimeter wave radiation, act via activation of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) with VGCC activation producing five different effects, each of which have roles in stimulating the replication and spread of coronaviruses [1,2]:

1. Excessive intracellular calcium2. Oxidative stress3. NF-kappaB elevation4. Inflammation5. Apoptosis (programmed cell death)

The predominant cause of death in the COVID-19 epidemic, is pneumonia and each of these five effects also have roles in pneumonia, such that each of them is predicted to greatly increase the percent of people dying in this epidemic. It

seems highly plausible that 5G radiation is greatly increasing the spread of the epidemic and also the death rate in individuals that are infected.

You may wish to consider all of this in conjunction with the broader findings with regard to the dangers of 5G and other effects apparently produced by 5G exposures [2].How then did we get to this state? Many independent scientists, including myself, have argued that there should be no 5G rollout until there is extensive biological safety testing of genuine 5G radiation with all of its dangerous modulating pulses. However the industry has refused to get independent 5G testing and the FCC and other regulatory agencies have refused to require such testing. Furthermore, the EMF “safety guidelines” which are supposed to protect us from health impacts of EMF radiation have been shown, based on eight different types of highly repeated studies, to fail massively to predict biological effects. They therefore fail to predict safety [3]. It follows from this that all assurances of safety based on these “safety guidelines” are fraudulent. Consequently, there is no evidence whatsoever of 5G safety and much evidence of lack of safety.

It is my opinion, therefore, that 5G radiation is greatly stimulating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and also the major cause of death, pneumonia and therefore, an important public health measure would be to shut down the 5G antennae, particularly the small cell 5G antennae in close proximity to our homes, schools, businesses, houses of worship and hospitals. The VGCC activation mechanism has been amazingly well accepted in the scientific literature.

My first (2013) paper on it was placed on the Global Medical Discovery web site as one of the top medical papers of 2013. That paper has been cited 256 times according to the Google Scholar database. Most new scientific paradigms are only slowly accepted and this is much, much faster than usual.

I have given 59 invited professional talks on this topic in 15 countries, including 4 prestigious keynote addresses. I had been scheduled to give 1 more prestigious keynote address in April (has been postponed because of COVID-19).

Two of my papers, my neuropsychiatric paper and my Wi-Fi paper, are each described by the publishing journal as being the most often downloaded paper in the history of each journal –stunning scientific interest in both papers.

My recent talks, one sponsored by the Dept. of Engineering and Applied Science at Queens University and the other at the World Congress on Physics in Berlin (where I was given a certificate of recognition) show together that both engineers and physicists are starting to realize the importance of this mechanism.

EXHIBIT 2:

International 5G Appeal: Scientists and doctors warn of potential serious health effects of 5G

As of November 13, 2020, 254 EMF scientists from 44 nations have signed the Appeal

“We are scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF). Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices. These include–but are not limited to–radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitting devices, such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors as well as electric devices and infra-structures used in the delivery of electricity that generate extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF EMF).”

With “the ever more extensive use of wireless technologies,” nobody can avoid to be exposed. Because on top of the increased number of 5G-transmitters (even within housing, shops and in hospitals) according to estimates, ”10 to 20 billion connections” (to refrigerators, washing machines, surveillance cameras, self-driving cars and buses, etc.) will be parts of the Internet of Things.

EXHIBIT 3:

4G/5G antenna densification is escalating health risks - a global crisis

New York, NY, July 22, 2019. The Advisors to the International EMF Scientist Appeal, representing 248 scientists from 42 nations, have resubmitted The Appeal to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Executive Director, Inger Andersen, requesting the UNEP reassess the potential biological impacts of next generation 4G and 5G telecommunication technologies to plants, animals and humans.

There is particular urgency at this time as new antennas will be densely located throughout residential neighborhoods using much higher frequencies, with greater biologically disruptive pulsations, more dangerous signaling characteristics, plus transmitting equipment on, and inside, homes and buildings. The Advisors to The Appeal recommend UNEP seriously weigh heavily the findings of the independent, non-industry associated EMF science

EXHIBIT 4:

Scientific American: “We Have No Reason to Believe 5G Is Safe. The technology is coming, but contrary to what some people say, there could be health risks.”

The latest cellular technology, 5G, will employ millimeter waves for the first time in addition to microwaves that have been in use for older cellular technologies, 2G through 4G. Given limited reach, 5G will require cell antennas every 100 to 200 meters, exposing many people to millimeter wave radiation. 5G also employs new technologies (e.g., active antennas capable of beam-forming; phased arrays; massive multiple inputs and outputs, known as massive MIMO) which pose unique challenges for measuring exposures.

Millimeter waves are mostly absorbed within a few millimeters of human skin and in the surface layers of the cornea. Short-term exposure can have adverse physiological effects in the peripheral nervous system, the immune system and the cardiovascular system. The research suggests that long-term exposure may pose health risks to the skin (e.g., melanoma), the eyes (e.g., ocular melanoma) and the testes (e.g., sterility).

Since 5G is a new technology, there is no research on health effects, so we are “flying blind” to quote a U.S. senator. However, we have considerable evidence about the harmful effects of 2G and 3G. Little is known the effects of exposure to 4G, a 10-year-old technology, because governments have been remiss in funding this research. Meanwhile, we are seeing increases in certain types of head and neck tumors in tumor registries, which may be at least partially attributable to the proliferation of cell phone radiation. These increases are consistent with results from case-control studies of tumor risk in heavy cell phone users.

5G will not replace 4G; it will accompany 4G for the near future and possibly over the long term. If there are synergistic effects from simultaneous exposures to multiple types of RFR, our overall risk of harm from RFR may increase substantially. EXHIBIT 6:

Appeals that matter or not on a moratorium on the deployment of the fifth generation, 5G, for microwave radiation

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of WHO in 2011 classified RF radiation in the frequency range of 30 kHz-300 GHz as a ‘possible’ human carcinogen, Group 2B (1,2). Since then, the evidence of the adverse effects of RF radiation has strengthened based on human epidemiological (3,4,5) and animal studies (6,7,8). These results add scientific evidence to a previous evaluation (9). Thus, RF radiation may now be classified as a human carcinogen, Group 1. That is the strongest classification, which is the same as that for e.g., asbestos and smoking.

Abstract: Apparatus for and method of sensing brain waves at a position remote from a subject whereby electromagnetic signals of different frequencies are simultaneously transmitted to the brain of the subject in which the signals interfere with one another to yield a waveform which is modulated by the subject's brain waves. The interference waveform which is representative of the brain wave activity is re-transmitted by the brain to a receiver where it is demodulated and amplified. The demodulated waveform is then displayed for visual viewing and routed to a computer for further processing and analysis. The demodulated waveform also can be used to produce a compensating signal which is transmitted back to the brain to effect a desired change in electrical activity therein.

Abstract: Physiological effects have been observed in a human subject in response to stimulation of the skin with weak electromagnetic fields that are pulsed with certain frequencies near 1/2 Hz or 2.4 Hz, such as to excite a sensory resonance. Many computer monitors and TV sets, when displaying pulsed images, emit pulsed electromagnetic fields of sufficient amplitudes to cause such excitation. It is therefore possible to manipulate the nervous system of a subject by pulsing images displayed on a nearby computer monitor or TV set. For the latter, the image pulsing may be imbedded in the program material, or it may be overlaid by modulating a video stream.

Abstract: The invention relates to the technical application of electromagnetic radiation such as microwaves and radiowaves and application of ultra sound to chain molecules. In particular, the present invention relates to the utilization of topological excitations such as wring, twist and torsional modes, e.g., for generating structure, such as in folding, refolding or renaturation, and denaturation or unfolding of peptides, polypeptides, proteins, and enzymes; for generating changes in molecular affinity; for stimulating drug receptor interactions; and for changing molecular communication, is described. The technique is based on a new understanding of the underlying physical phenomenon and can also be applied to other chain molecules and biologically active biomolecules and tailored polymers such as glucoproteins, antibodies, genomic chain molecules such as DNA and RNA as well as PNA, carbohydrates, and synthetic and natural organic polymers. The invention is especially applicable for solving problems related to inclusion bodies and aggregation when using recombinant DNA and protein engineering techniques. Furthermore, the invention can be utilized in therapeutic treatment and in development and production of pharmaceuticals. The Dangers Of 5G – 11 Reasons To Be Concerned

The USA is currently leading the way on 5G. At the June 2016 press conference where the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) head Tom Wheeler announced the opening up of low, mid and high spectrums. There was no mention of health effects whatsoever. But the dangers are real.

Let’s not also forget that in 2011 the World Health Organization (WHO) classified radio frequency radiation as a possible 2B carcinogen.

More recently the $25 million National Toxicology Program concluded that radio frequency radiation of the type currently used by cell phones can cause cancer.

But where does 5G fit into all this? Given that 5G is set to utilize frequencies above and below existing frequency bands 5G sits in the middle of all this. But the tendency (it varies from country to country) is for 5G to utilize the higher frequency bands, which brings its own particular concerns. Here is my review of the studies done to date – 11 reasons to be concerned.

#1 – A DENSER SOUP OF ELECTROSMOG

We’re going to be bombarded by really high frequencies at low, short-range intensities creating a yet more complicated denser soup of electrosmog – as this diagram shows.

To work with the higher range MMW in 5G, the antennas required are smaller. Some experts are talking about as small as 3mm by 3mm. The low intensity is for efficiency and to deal with signal disruption from natural and man-made obstacles.

#2 – EFFECTS ON THE SKIN

The biggest concern is how these new wavelengths will affect the skin. The human body has between two million to four million sweat ducts. Dr. Ben-Ishai of Hebrew University, Israel explains that our sweat ducts act like “an array of helical antennas when exposed to these wavelengths,” meaning that we become more conductive. A recent New York study which experimented with 60GHz waves stated that “the analyses of penetration depth show that more than 90% of the transmitted power is absorbed in the epidermis and dermis layer.”

The effects of MMWs (millimeter waves) as studied by Dr. Yael Stein of Hebrew University is said to also cause humans physical pain as our nociceptors flare up in recognition of the wave as a damaging stimuli. So we’re looking at possibilities of many skin diseases and cancer as well as physical pain to our skin.

#3 – EFFECTS ON THE EYES

A 1994 study found that low level millimeter microwave radiation produced lens opacity in rats, which is linked to the production of cataracts.

An experiment conducted by the Medical Research Institute of Kanazawa Medical University found that 60GHz “millimeter-wave antennas can cause thermal injuries of varying types of levels. The thermal effects induced by millimeter waves can apparently penetrate below the surface of the eye.”

A 2003 Chinese study has also found damage to the lens epithelial cells of rabbits after 8 hours of exposure to microwave radiation and a 2009 study conducted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Pakistan conclude that EMFs emitted by a mobile phone cause derangement of chicken embryo retinal differentiation.

#4 – EFFECTS ON THE HEART

A 1992 Russian study found that frequencies in the range 53-78GHz (that which 5G proposes to use) impacted the heart rate variability (an indicator of stress) in rats. Another Russian study on frogs who’s skin was exposed to MMWs found heart rate changes (arrhythmias).

#5 – IMMUNE SYSTEM EFFECTS

A 2002 Russian study examined the effects of 42HGz microwave radiation exposure on the blood of healthy mice. It was concluded that “the whole-body exposure of healthy mice to low-intensity EHF EMR has a profound effect on the indices of nonspecific immunity”.

#6 – EFFECTS ON CELL GROWTH RATES

A 2016 Armenian study observed MMWs at low intensity, mirroring the future environment brought about by 5G. Their study conducted on E-coli and other bacteria stated that the waves had depressed their growth as well as “changing

properties and activity” of the cells. The concern is that it would do the same to human cells.

#7 – EFFECTS ON BACTERIA RESISTANCE

The very same Armenian study also suggested that MMWs effects are mainly on water, cell plasma membrane and genome too. They had found that MMW’s interaction with bacteria altered their sensitivity to “different biologically active chemicals, including antibiotics.” More specifically, the combination of MMW and antibiotics showed that it may be leading to antibiotic resistance in bacteria.

This groundbreaking finding could have a magnum effect on the health of human beings as the bandwidth is rolled out nationwide. The concern is that we develop a lower resistance to bacteria as our cells become more vulnerable – and we become more vulnerable.

#8 – EFFECTS ON PLANT HEALTH

One of the features of 5G is that the MMW is particularly susceptible to being absorbed by plants and rain.

Humans and animals alike consume plants as a food source. The effects MMW has on plants could leave us with food that’s not safe to consume. Think GMOs on steroids. The water that falls from the sky onto these plants will also be irradiated. A 2010 study on aspen seedlings showed that the exposure to radio frequencies led to the leaves showing necrosis symptoms.

Another Armenian study found that MMWs of low intensity “invoke(s) peroxidase isoenzyme spectrum changes of wheat shoots.” Peroxidase is a stress protein existing in plants. Indications are that 5G will be particularly harmful to plants – perhaps more so than to humans.

#9 – EFFECTS ON THE ATMOSPHERE AND DEPLETION OF FOSSIL FUELS

Implementation of the 5G global wireless network requires the launching of rockets to deploy satellites for 5G. These satellites have a short lifespan which would require a lot more deployment than what we’re currently seeing. A new type of hydrocarbon rocket engine expected to power a fleet of suborbital rockets would emit black carbon which “could cause potentially significant changes in the

global atmospheric circulation and distributions of ozone and temperature” according to a 2010 Californian study. Solid state rocket exhaust contains chlorine which also destroys the ozone.

The effects on the ozone are thought to be worse than current day CFC exposure.

Google’s Project Loon is said to bring Internet to rural and hard-to-access areas by using helium balloons. But these balloons only have a 10-month lifespan. We’re looking at a lot of helium being used here, more than what we can possibly have on Earth?

#10 – DISRUPTION OF THE NATURAL ECOSYSTEM

Since the year 2000, there have been reports of birds abandoning their nests as well as health issues like “plumage deterioration, locomotion problems, reduced survivorship and death,” says researcher Alfonso Balmori. Bird species that are affected by these low levels, non-ionizing microwave radiation are the House Sparrows, Rock Doves, White Storks, Collared Doves and Magpies, among others.

But it’s not just the birds. The declining bee population is also said to be linked to this non-ionizing EMF radiation. It reduces the egg-laying abilities of the queen leading to a decline in colony strength.

While the existing large volume of scientific studies show clear health risks with the frequencies used in the first phase of 5G deployment, very little research has been done so far on the health effects of millimetre waves to be used for thesecondphase of 5G (6 to 86 GHz). The existing review papers (Oughton, Frias, Russell, Sicker, & Cleevely, 2018; Russell, 2018)reveal the current known effects of these waves:

1. Despite shallow penetration (compared to lower frequencies) 5G millimetre waves pose harm to the largest organ of the body, the skin, with the possibility of permanent tissue damage (Neufeld & Kuster, 2018).

2. Effects on eyes (including cataracts), heart rate, immune system and DNA have been shown.

4. Due to the pulses from 5G phased arrays, the moving charges within the body become tiny antennas. They then reradiate waves called ‘Brillouin Precursors’ deeper into the body (Albanese, Blaschak, Medina, & Penn, 1994), which become dangerous with rapid changes in power or phase of the waves (Xiao & Oughstun, 1999)as will occur with 5G.

Risk of harm to birds, bees and insects

Microwave radiation is already having effects on birds, bees and pollinators (Bandara & Carpenter, 2018; Lázaro et al., 2016; Warnke, 2009). Moreover, insects will maximally absorb 5G radiation due to the length of their bodies being measured in millimetres and the subsequent resonance effects (Thielens et al., 2018). Active Denial Technology (ADT) produces a focused beam of directed energy (DE) to provide the Joint Force with an option to stop, deter and turn back suspicious individuals with minimal risk of injury. ADT is an intermediate force capability designed to bridge the gap between presence and lethal force without causing unnecessary destruction or loss of life.

Traveling at the speed of light, an invisible DE beam of radio frequency millimeter waves engages the subject, penetrating skin to a depth of only about 1/64th of an inch—the equivalent of three sheets of printer paper. This repel effect produces an intolerable heating sensation, compelling the targeted individual to instinctively move. It ceases immediately after the individual moves out of the beam or when the operator turns off the ADT system. However, the 5G’s requirement of a very high data rate entails an increase in signal power received at a user’s end, which in turn results in an increase in the amount of electromagnetic energy imposed on the user [1]-[3]. Not only that, this article identifies three technical features adopted in 5G, which can increase the human electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure ‘further.’

First, the 5G targets to operate at higher frequencies (e.g., 28, 60, and 70 GHz [4]-[6]) in addition to the existing lower-frequency bands for cellular communications. The advantages are (i) availability of wide bandwidths and (ii) possibility of integrating a larger number of antennas in small dimensions [4]. At a higher frequency, however, the EMF ‘absorption’ rate into human skin also rises.

The ongoing race for a coronavirus vaccine has raised several concerns regarding its efficacy and safe use. One particular concern that medical professionals are worried about is how the vaccine can potentially alter human DNA.

Internal medicine specialist Dr. Carrie Madej, who studied vaccine for about 20 years and trained in osteopathic medicine, explained the potential damages that a Covid-19 vaccine can cause in a video that she posted online. Throughout the pandemic, the genetic makeup of SARS-CoV-2 has been mutating, making it more complicated for scientists to develop a working vaccine.

Dr. Madej talked about how small alternations in the human genome result in rewriting the genetic code or DNA. DNA alterations can either help improve health or damage it. Since the vaccine will contain synthetic genetic code of coronavirus, it will be unlike traditional vaccines. Dr. Madej emphasized the fact that the DNA vaccines that are being developed have never been used on humans before until recent trials.

Fast Track Designation

Moreover, another danger of the potential vaccines is how the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted several companies the Fast Track designation, allowing developers to skip over a few essential steps in vaccine development. Some have been 'skipping over the animal trials [and] going directly to human trials,' said Madej.

None of the companies are also comparing vaccine dosages to randomized placebo control trials which are a legal standard of the FDA, she continued, raising concern over standard protocols. The lack of randomized control trials vaccine trials has also been recently applied to other vaccines such as an altered vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR).

Developer companies have also been exempt from product liability, meaning that any side effects caused by their vaccine, when released for public use, will not be held against the companies. With companies responsible for claiming that their

vaccine produces antibodies is not enough proof that the dosages will be effective protection against coronavirus.

The Cost of Vaccines

Recent developments in the development of COVID-19 vaccines include phase three of human trials. Moderna, one of the companies leading the race for a vaccine, has already given the dosages a price tag between $32 and $37.

Stéphane Bancel, Moderna's CEO, said, 'At Moderna, like many public health experts, we believe that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not going away and that there will be a need to vaccinate people or give them a boost for many years to come.' Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has been urging Americans to join the recent vaccine trials where the developers have aimed for 300,000 participants.

'We don't know if, really, it would work out in the population of people,' she said, pointing out that companies have been saying there's not enough time to do those kinds of studies. Recombinant vaccines may include a lot of foreign genetic code, Madej warns, which may result in permanent changes to a person's DNA.
