Transcript of Exopolitics Magazine edition 1 by British Exopolitics Expo

Welcome to the first edition of Exopolitics magazine, a magazine dedicated to the study of UFOs and the progression of Ufology.

Within these pages you will find articles on some of the topics and themes that will come under the lens at the Annual British Exopolitics Expo and the Extraterrestrial Communication Conference in the summer of 2014.

The term “Exopolitics”, meaning the politics of our interactions with others not of this planet, brings with it the challenge of framing it within what is now nearly seven decades of UFO sightings, intrigue, misinformation, disinformation, media spin, propaganda and even psychological operations.

This challenge means that the data presented at the Exopolitics Expo is not always necessarily “exopolitical”, nor is it necessarily old-school “ufological”. It is presented however to allow a broader and clearer cognisance of our own place in this world.

This is a necessary prerequisite for understanding – or rather – comprehending our interactions with, or the influence of, any “others” terrestrial or other-wise.

That “others” exist is evidenced by the meticulous work of researchers, stretching over the last seven decades; work that leads people to consider various points of origin for what is inarguably intelligently

caused phenomena; this includes the extraterrestrial hypothesis but also other explanations such as interdimensional, time travel and also spiritual explanations.

The evidence for this goes back far into recorded history. What we are experiencing collectively may not be new. Throughout history the ruling paradigm of the time – enforced for political or theological purposes – has always come to be challenged and undermined, not necessarily by the beliefs and practices of percieved heretics to othodoxy, but by the very nature of reality itself.

If we are in similar times, albeit placed into our civilizations circumstances, then we should not be too surprised when the end result of deception is ultimately revelation.

UFO disclosure is often expressed in terms of the authority that an official body has to disclose it. While politics (and indeed exo-politics) describes the policies of instruments and institutions of our society – rarely do people consider that it relates to the intent of being of the individual aswell.

Whatever the true nature of the UFO phenomenon is, we, as sentient and sovereign human beings, are all the authority that UFO disclosure needs.

Therefore, in that sense, this is disclosure.

Thinking of UFO’s and ET’sThe UFO/ET subject is hugely complicated and filled with contradictions, puzzles and challenges. For all those people that explore this field and whose cu-riosity or experiences propel them past the study of “lights in the sky,” they will start to encounter some-thing more profound.

Their understanding of the universe will most likely change – perhaps gradually, or even quite suddenly. They may therefore experience a huge shift in their consciousness. Similarly, for people like me who have “an itch” and start to “scratch through” the veneer of reality, a change in consciousness often occurs – we see a larger reality, with more distant and stranger horizons. These new perspectives make us think and even behave in new ways.

In many cases, things that once seemed important to us become less and less significant. The age old ques-tions of “What am I doing here? Where did I come from? Is there a creator?” can take on a new dimen-sion – as we begin to consider the possibility that we are part of a larger, grand “Cosmic Plan.”

By listening to and in some cases, vicariously re-living the experiences of contactees such as Travis Walton, Leah Haley and others, we are challenged to realise and accept that we are indeed “not alone.” Non-hu-man beings have been interacting with us – even ma-nipulating us – for centuries. This is just one aspect of how our consciousness can be changed, but there are many other examples of things we can study that can force us into a new understanding of our true nature and our place within the universe.

What Wilbert Smith Learned ... over 50 years ago!In talking about the UFO/ET subject and conscious-ness, I feel I cannot pass on an opportunity to mention Wilbert Smith, the Canadian Radio Engineer, inventor and contactee.

Through the work of Grant Cameron and others, I learned of Smith’s writings about “The Boys Topside,” as well as his realisation that metaphysics and a study of consciousness were of huge importance in understanding the whole

UFO/ET phenomenon. (I hope that Grant Cameron will also be addressing this in his own presentation at Exopolitics 2014.)

Smith realised that we have to consider ourselves in a much larger “scheme of things.” Smith said that he was told by his contacts that all of us have come here “to experience a sequence of events” and that some things in this sequence “must not be changed.”

Expand Your Reality!by Andrew Johnson

“Religion, which is the relationship of a being to its Creator. Here we have a hodge-podge of superstition dressed up in pageantry giving lip service to some-thing in which very few people actually believe, and practically no one knows anything about. Every great religion says ‘Love Thy God’ but how many under-stand what this means?” – Wilbert Brockhouse Smith

A number of people have spoken about “finding a path” during their search for the truth – as if they have become aware that there is, indeed, a “sequence of events” they need to experience or “align with” in some way.

In my presentation at the Exo-politics 2014 conference, I hope to share a few of the pieces of evidence I have come across which have shaped my thinking and my understanding of consciousness. I hope that a presentation of this evidence will give people a better appreciation of some facets of the ET/UFO phenomenon and how it can fit in to a “larger view of us.”

UFO Religion?Ironically, “UFOlogy” is classed by some people as a kind of “religion” – as if it is something that is based on belief or faith only, with no hard evidence and/or not something you can have personal experience of. This classification is all too often made by those in the mainstream who have a “reductionist” view of the world and who will reject any evidence that proves, or strongly indicates, that human beings are not just a collection of water and other chemicals that have self-or-ganised over billions of years to become some type of “sophisti-cated organic robot.”

Like others, I have in the past, argued that evidence which proves that ET’s have been interacting with mankind is quickly “shut out” by those who cannot let go of their own beliefs about what they think is the nature of the universe. That is, it is the naysayers and re-ductionists who are the victims of a belief system, not those who are witnesses, experiencers and con-tactees.

Organised religion has shaped

human culture, civilisation and thinking for thousands of years. For millions of people even today, following a religion dictates many of their daily routines - from cradle to grave. Only a small percent-age of them will stop to consider “where their religion came from”. Christians, for example, may not stop to consider there are over 30,000 branches or denomina-tions of their religion. For most, they will have never heard of the connection of Christianity to Gnosticism.

I had never even heard of Gnosti-cism until about 5 or 10 years ago. My interpretation of it is that it is based around an “inner knowing” (gnosis) and understanding that we are indeed not just “physical beings”. In an essay, author John Lamb Lash suggests “Gnosis is intuitive knowing of the heart that liberates us from social con-ditioning and ego-fixation.” The fundamental point here is one of knowing, not believing – Gnosti-cism encourages the development of inner knowledge – not faith or belief.

Separately, in Lash’s work, he refers to the Archons – a group who came to the earth and began to “mess with” humans – in an attempt to control them, it seems. Indeed, most religions suggest that “other beings” play some role in our history (angels, demons etc.) and books have been written de-scribing, in some cases, how these appear to be ET’s or aliens of some kind. However, these stories so often seem to be over-simplified in scripture and other religious writings and these writings often seem to lack important details.

I have heard it said that the one thing that is common to all reli-gions are writings about or recog-

nition of the Mystical Experience – an experience which alters one’s view of the world and the universe – through some kind of connec-tion to a “larger reality.” This could be described as “talking to god” or undergoing an out-of-body experi-ence, where you may zoom away from yourself and get a sensation of what it is like to have another form of being.

Transcendental Experiences from Fungi and PlantsJohn Lash also discusses the role of psychoactive mushrooms (and plants) in shamanic practic-es which, it would seem, are all about changing our self-aware-ness and interacting with “other realms.” In Western Cultures (such as our own), experimentation with these sorts of substances is frowned upon and, in the main, discouraged. Also, possession of some substances having psycho-active effects is legislated against in our culture. Is someone or some group worried that experiencing these “other realms” can catalyse the acquisition of profound new knowledge which would result in a new understanding of ourselves?

Another “substance” that has received more attention in recent years is Ayahuasca – a “brew” of

plants which is made by Shaman in Peru. People can drink this as a way of ingesting DMT (di-methyl-trypt-amine) – a substance which has a profound effect on a person’s con-scious experience. When a person

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

6

expand Your realitY! bY andrew Johnson

is under the influence of DMT, they report various unusual effects – such as coming into contact with intelligent but distinctly non-hu-man entities. Some people seem to be able to communicate with their “spirit guide” or even with an entity known in Gnostic teachings as “Sophia” – a “fallen goddess” who now inhabits the earth. (This is explored in more depth on John Lash’s metahistory.org website.)

UFO/alien contactee/abductees often report that they have had some type of psychic, transcen-dental or mystical experience – either before their abduction or even as a result of it – so it seems clear that considerations of altered or expanded conscious-ness are one of the central issues in the contactee/abduction phe-nomenon (and this has been written about by several authors, including Dr Karla Turner).

Near Death Experiences’sOften written off by the medical profession as an aberration in the brain’s operation caused by hypoxia (a lack of oxygen), Near Death Experiences (NDE’s), I have concluded, also offer us import-ant and potentially transformative knowledge about ourselves.

How is it possible for people to gain specific information when they are “clinically dead,” uncon-scious and even “flat-line”?

How can that information be accu-rately transferred to their memory, so that they can describe to people what was happening to them – or what was happening a few metres away, behind walls and/or closed doors, when they were “deaf and blind” in unconsciousness?

There are now hundreds or maybe even thousands of documented

cases where it can be proved these people had no access to informa-tion nor could they have actually witnessed what they reported when they recovered.

Despite sceptics’ and reduc-tionists’ attempts to explain the evidence, I can only, rationally, come to conclusions similar to those that figures such as Dr Peter Fenwick, Dr Michael Sabom and Dr Jeffery Long have documented and written about. I have no doubt that in many documented NDE cases; the person’s conscious-ness became separated from their physical body and then, at a later point, returned. This is a profound conclusion – yet it is not taught in any school subject and is not accu-rately described and characterised in any religious writings that I am aware of.

Wingmakers and the Lyricus OrderSome years ago now, I was told about an unusual Website called “Wingmakers” (wingmakers.com). Thought by some to be an “Elabo-rate Marketing Scheme”, this site offers some detailed information and distinctive and provocative graphics and music. It talks about a “mythology” and “a central race” that is here to help us discover the “grand portal” – of consciousness.

It is a complex and detailed site – containing thousands of pages (and therefore dissimilar to other sites which just want to make money or start a “pyramid” scheme). Personally I think, the skill of pre-sentation of the material, and the depth and eloquence therein is “a level above” what I have seen elsewhere. Wingmakers is linked to another site called Lyricus.

According to the bibliotecapleya-des.net website:

WingMakers is part of the mythological expression of Lyricus that typically accompa-nies its first exterial expression within a species. It is the “call-ing card”, announcing its initial approach as it treads softly among the species to which it serves. WingMakers is the mythological expression of the underlying structure of the Lyr-icus Teaching Order. It is sym-bolic of how Lyricus is brought to the planet.

The associated Lyricus Website (www.lyricus.org) contains another section of “FAQs” (fre-quently asked questions) – one of which is, “What is the definition of the soul?” Part of the answer is given below:

The soul is literally a God Frag-ment that is composed of a hierarchy of capabilities and functionality that permit it to be simultaneously individuated and whole. As it enters the soul carrier at or near the physical birth, it begins to form a ma-trix of interaction with the soul carrier…

Whether it is just because this defi-nition “fits” with the way I think from an engineer’s perspective, I don’t know, but nowhere else have I seen this sort of language used to describe what might loosely

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

be called “spiritual matters” or “matters pertaining to the nature of the soul.” Further study of the FAQ may leave one wondering what this site is actually for.

A Summary by Bill HicksSo, in studying the UFO/ET phe-nomenon honestly, we are soon confronted with questions about our “full selves” – and what we are made of. We must consider ques-tions of time, evolution, mind, body, soul and consciousness. In the 1990’s I became aware of comedian Bill Hicks – who devel-oped quite a big following in the UK.

Within some very blue and quite

political stand-up routines, he would suddenly change the subject and talk about the true nature of ourselves and what we were doing here. He spoke out against the demonization of hallucinogenic drugs and in one such “rant”, about “positive drugs

stories” he read out an example of a News Story that you would never hear being broadcast in a mainstream bulletin.

“Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is mere-ly energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There’s no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we’re the imag-ination of ourselves…. Here’s Tom with the weather.”

I think Bill Hick’s was right…

Flying Saucers, Contactees and Extraterrestrial Communication

By Anthony Beckett

“It was learned that the aliens had been and were then manipulating masses of people through secret societies, witchcraft, magic, the occult, and religion.” - The Origin, Identity, and Purpose of MJ-12 by Milton William Cooper, 1989

I first heard Bill Cooper’s voice in 1994. The above quote, spoken by the con-troversial ufologist and whistleblower at a 1989 MUFON lecture, was used in a piece of music by the

band Eat Static on a track called Abnormal Interfer-ence on their 1994 album Implant.

It was possibly the first time I’d heard it suggested that extraterrestrials would seek to influence human culture through the manipulation of people at such an all-encompassing level. It was Cooper’s claim that, not only did the US government know from very early on that extraterrestrial contact was going on, but it was interfering with society, and was outside of the ability of the government to control it. The tone implied that this was something to be afraid of.

It is of course possible for governments and other terrestrial organisations to utilise these same facets of human society for the perversion of reality and the manipulation of others. So, is there any evidence of this outside of unverified claims of alleged insiders? Where could we start our search for signs of it?

Well, the controversial contactees of the 1950’s come to mind. Their claims of extraterrestrials living on planet Venus for instance, a planet that later space exploration showed to be inhospitable and far from an abode of recognisable life, make those initial claims seem a little foolish on the surface.

However, before we delve a bit deeper into that, we will start our story with a step back to a time in recent history, before the contactee movement began...

Disks, cigars and saucersOn June 24, 1947, American aviator and business-man Kenneth Arnold from Boise, Idaho witnessed ten unusual objects in the skies over Washington, USA. He had been flying his private plane near Mt. Rainier in western Washington State when he encountered flying craft that were “half-moon shaped, oval in front and convex in the rear”. The unusual aircraft he described as “something like a pie plate that was cut in half with a sort of a convex triangle in the rear”.

According to Arnold “they flew like a saucer would if you skipped it across the water”. It is perhaps ironic that it was the press who, when reporting his sighting, misquoted Arnold and coined the term “flying saucer” that would come into widespread use.

Interestingly, Arnold’s description of the craft in this case bears a close resemblance to the advanced aircraft design created by Walter Horton and his

brother Reimar, rather than the widely understood shape of a flying saucer. German aircraft using the Horton Flying-wing design flew in the closing stages of World War II and a similar flying-wing aircraft was

designed by leading US aircraft manufacturer the Northrop Cor-poration. The US design was built by the Glenn L. Martin Company in 1944 but technical difficulties and, not surprisingly, the end of WWII saw the cancellation of the operational program. Develop-ment work however continued and the first US jet-powered flying wing, the Northrop YB-49, was first flown on October 21, 1947, only a few months after Arnold’s sighting. While Arnold discrip-tion of the craft is similar, the flight characteristics he described differs; with the “skipped it across the water” remark impling a char-acteristic wobbling motion.

There had of course been sight-ings of anomalous aerial phenom-ena prior to this; such as the Scan-dinavian “ghost rockets” of 1946 and the phenomena described as “balls of fire” that accompanying planes during World War II that became known as “foo fighters”. There had been sightings of ci-gar-shaped and disk-shaped craft too; such as the object that was responsible for the Los Angeles Air Raid incident of 1942, that saw five

civilians die as an indirect result of anti-aircraft fire directed against a flying disk.

An Encounter in Brontë CountryAn early cigar-shape craft sighting that predates international air travel was recorded by two Police Constables who had been on patrol in the village of Haworth, West Yorkshire at the turn of the 20th Century. Haworth is only a couple of miles from where I live and it would have been as typical a Yorkshire village as you could get back in 1901.

Situated at the edge of the high moorland of the Pennine Hills, it is famous for being the home of classic writers, the Brontë sisters, and was the backdrop to Emily Brontë’s posthumously published Wuthering Heights only 16 years earlier. The same desolate land-scape that inspired Wuthering Heights came to find Police Con-stables Johnson and Clark on patrol around the winter solstice.

December 21st, 1901 was report-edly a cold and clear night and, as Constable Johnson was checking a bootblack’s (shoe polisher’s) door, Constable Clark saw a pale green light engulf them both. Looking up they saw a cigar-shaped craft hovering approximately 100 feet above them. The light was so bright that several other people were aroused to witness the spec-tacle. They watched the object for approximately 10 minutes after which time, the green light went out and the object moved towards the horizon.

While commercial international air travel did not exist in 1901 it is not inconceivable that dirigibles could have been in responsible for cigar shaped objects in the skies during that period. However the specifics of the sighting do seem to preclude the notion that the object was an airship or a blimp.

The Aviation Technology BackdropIn the modern era flight was first achieved with the use of buoyant vehicles. Airships and blimps are buoyant due to them being lighter than air and were invented during the late 19th century. Aerody-namic flight using an aerofoil to generate lift, mirroring the flight of birds, was first demonstrated by the Wright Brothers in 1903 and their first fixed wing aircraft was developed between the years 1905 and 1907. While propulsion to achieve flight went on to use chemical rockets, and later ion drives in spacecraft, these both use mass displacement to achieve propulsion to generate lift.

If conventional thinkers are to be believed, human ingenuity has not progressed beyond these basic three methods of maintain-ing flight; buoyant vehicles, the aerodynamic aerofoil and mass displacement using rockets and jets etc. Technological advances are thus seen to be limited to ad-vancing these particular modes of flight. However, evidence of another leap forward in our ability to achieve flight, overcom-ing gravity, came shortly after the Wright Brothers took to the skies.

Anti-gravity AircraftIn 1921 Thomas Townsend Brown discovered a physical phenome-non that became known as the Biefield-Brown effect; joint credit is given to his mentor from Califor-nia Institute of Technology, Dr. Paul Biefeld. This discovery kick-start-ed his work towards developing electrogravitic propulsion and at-taining flight by controlling gravity using electrical means.

By 1945, Brown had demon-strated his method of countering gravity using tethered flying disks

to various scientists and military officials such as top military officer Admiral Arthur W. Radford, the commander-in-chief for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

By some accounts various com-panies were investigating the use of anti-gravity platforms up until the early 1950’s. Indeed John Lear claims that his father Bill Lear, the founder of the Lear Jet Corpora-tion and inventor of the Lear jet, worked on such a program in the 1950’s; only to lose his position because, according to his son, he “couldn’t keep his mouth shut”.

Over a century after Townsend Brown felt the kick of his Coolidge X-ray tube, and wondered how a solid state device with no moving parts could “kick” at all, we have not seen the harnessing of that potential fourth generation of aviation in the open – or, have we?

Aviation Journalist Nick Cook in his book “Hunt for Zero Point” details the point at which he believes re-porting of this kind of technologi-cal development ceased being dis-cussed in the open.

In 1954 it would seem, some-thing had changed, and open (ac-knowledged) development of this technology stopped all together. A cursory look at this raises the simple question: did the open de-velopment of antigravity aviation stop in 1954 because the technol-ogy didn’t work? — Or did it stop because it did work?

Townsend Brown would go on to found the civilian unidentified flying object research group NICAP (National Investigations Commit-tee on Aerial Phenomena) in 1956. Still in the early 1950’s, reports of unusual disk shaped and cigar shaped aircraft would continue.

The “UFO” ProblemCentral to the widely held ufolog-ical view is the premise that flying disks, cigars and saucers, objects that the US Air Force would rename as UFOB -- “Unidentified Flying OBjects” in 1953, are extra-terrestrial in origin.

However, the term UFO, or originally “UFOB”, was stated as being:

“any airborne object which by performance, aerodynam-ic characteristics, or unusual features, does not conform to any presently known aircraft or missile type, or which can-not be positively identified as a familiar object.”

There is clearly a recorded history of a terrestrial origin for early “flying saucer” development in the United States; and claims that even more advanced devel-opments were under way under the Third Reich. This technology is seen to have ended up in the hands of the United States and the Soviet Union after WWII. The researcher Joseph Farrell even postulates that the technology may have stayed in Nazi-hands post-war and could perhaps have been flown out of Argentina under the Perón government - although not necessarily under the control of it - perhaps as an extra-territo-rial Nazi state.

It is against this technological backdrop, two years after the non-specific term “UFO” was invented by the US Air Force, and around the same time that the de-velopment of antigravity platforms by terrestrial corporations ceased being discussed in the open, that we find one of the more contro-versial areas in the UFO arena.

“Flying Saucers Have Landed”George Adamski was a polish born American occultist who, while not the first, is arguably the most famous, or perhaps infamous, of the contactees who claim to have met the occupants of the saucers. This contactee movement sprang up in the early 1950’s and would change the cultural lens through which “flying saucers”, now called “unidentified flying objects” would be seen.

Adamski claimed to have met an extraterrestrial in the California desert in 1954 in a meeting wit-nessed from a distance by several close friends. The extraterrestrial, calling himself Orthon, claimed to be from the planet Venus. Tales of Adamski’s extraterrestrial encoun-ters and the teachings imparted to him by Orthon were published in the 1953 blockbuster book “Flying Saucers Have Landed” which was co-authored by the British writer Desmond Leslie.

At the time of his encounters Adamski lived and worked at a ranch near California’s Palomar Mountain where he flipped burgers in the Palomar Gardens Café. His first encounter with what we can regard as a UFO was on October 9th, 1946, when he and a number of friends claimed to have witnessed a huge cigar-shaped object they described as a “mother-ship” while observing the Orionid meteor shower.

In 1947 he witnessed another huge cigar-shaped object that he was able to photograph. After another sighting in 1950 it was late autumn of 1952 when, accord-ing to Adamski and his friends, it seems that the flying saucers had landed.

“A Human Being from another World!”On November 20th, 1952 George Adamski set out into the Mojave Desert, with his secretary and the owner of the café where he worked, on a sky-watch looking for flying saucers.

At 8am that morning they met with a number of friends, includ-ing George Hunt Williamson who would later become a well-known contactee himself, and together they drove towards the town of Desert Center, California before heading northeast to the town of Parker in Arizona, where they stopped for a meal before begin-ning their skywatch.

It was then that, according to Adamski:

“riding high and without sound, there was a gigantic cigar-shaped silvery ship”

At which point Williamson asked “is that a spaceship?” Adamski yelled “Someone take me down the road, quick! That ship has come looking for me and I don’t want to keep them waiting!”

Jumping in a car with two of his intrepid sky-watchers they drove half a mile down the road and, with the object shadowing them, Adamski told the driver to turn off the road. The car pulled up and Adamski exited the vehicle telling his companions to join the rest of the group half a mile away from a safe vantage point.

The first craft was chased away by interceptor jets, however another “beautiful small craft” arrived and landed behind the crest of a mountain about half a mile away. Adamski shortly saw a figure wave to him and he walked towards it.

The Venusian“His hair was long, reaching to his shoulders, and was blow-ing in the wind ... He took four steps towards me, bringing us into arm’s length of each other. Now, for the first time I fully realised that I was in the presence of a man from space -- a human being from anoth-er world!... The beauty of his form surpassed anything I had ever seen. And the pleasant-ness of his face freed me of all thoughts of personal self. I felt like a child in the presence of one with great wisdom and much love, and I became very humble within myself ... for from him was radiating a feel-ing of infinite understanding and kindness, with supreme humility ...

“[He had] calm, grey green eyes, slightly aslant at the cor-ners; with slightly higher cheek bones than an Occidental, but not so high as an Indian or an Oriental; a finely chiselled nose, not conspicuously large; and an average size of mouth with beautiful white teeth that shone when he smiles and spoke. As nearly as I can de-scribe his skin, the colouring would be an even, medium-co-loured suntan”

The “being from another world” told Adamski that his name was Orthon and that he was from Venus. After warning him of the dangers of atomic weapons and wars, Orthon apparently refused to allow Adamski to take a photo-graph of him, before he returned to his craft and departed. Adamski then called his companions over and Williamson, who had had the foresight to bring plaster-of-paris on the trip, proceeded to make casts of Orthon’s footprints.

In his writings and lectures Adamski always went out of his way to make sure his followers understood that the being he en-countered was an actual physical entity.

Space BrothersIn common with other contact-ees, Adamski claimed that in his one-to-one meetings with be-nevolent aliens he was imparted with messages to be shared with humanity. The beings, often referred to as “Space Brothers” in contactee literature, would give contactees stern warnings about humanities new technolo-gies — such as the use of atomic weapons. However, they would also present an offer of a fraternal assistance towards our moral and technological improvement as a species.

As the proclamations of Orthon via Adamski unfold we hear that Orthon himself was not strictly an extraterrestrial in absolute origin, but had been born originally on the planet Earth and had become ascended spiritual adept that, at the time of Adamski’s meeting with him, had already passed over to the higher plane on the planet Venus.

Theosophy RevisitedGeorge Adamski was a follower of the beliefs of the Theosophical Society of the late 19th and early 20th century. In this belief system, ascended masters, often referred to as simply ‘brothers’, would offer teachings and assistance much like that offered by the 20th century’s contactee’s liaisons – who would often be referred to as ‘space brothers’.

According to Madame Blavatsky, the founder of the Theosophical Society, the central theosophi-

cal teachings of the society were the result of her instruction in an ‘ancient wisdom’ which, she claimed, was the source of the spiritual themes and ethical ideals of all the world’s religions.

Throughout history, according to Blavatsky, ‘ascended masters’ taught humanity theosophical truths, and she claims that her own instructions were presented to her by a similar ‘hidden adept’ or ‘ascended master’ — of which such figures as Buddha and Jesus were included. While the masters were usually considered to reside in Tibet, it was Blavatsky’s belief that certain masters, including those she was in contact with, resided on Venus.

It was Blavatsky’s belief that the true founders of the society were two ascended masters called Koot Hoomi (Kuthumi) and Morya, and that the society’s very existence was as an instrument to carry out the work of these ‘ascended masters’. The teachings of these masters were conveyed through two Anglo-Indian Theosophists, A. P. Sinnett and A. O. Hume, and were compiled in a document known as The Mahatma Letters.

The mission of the society was therefore to communicate these teachings to humanity and thereby contribute to the moral and spir-itual evolution of the species. These ascended masters were living, breathing, human beings whom had evolved through many reincarnations and had acquired and become a custodian of an ‘ancient wisdom’.

They now sought to impart that wisdom to humanity in order to lead it into a new age of spiritual and global community.

A Contactee DoctrineWhile there are some differences between the theosophical masters and the early accounts of aliens given by many contactees such as Adamski, these differences are quite superficial when compared to the similarities.

Both the ascended masters and the aliens are seen to be highly spiritually evolved and more technologically advanced. They are both apparently benevolent beings with a deep concern for humanity’s salvation and its disregard for the planet Earth.

The principal religious themes of the Theosophical Society, de-scribed by Madame Blavatsky in her book The Secret Doctrine, bear many close similarities to the beliefs and intentions of Orthon and also extraterrestrials who visited other contactees. The prin-ciples of Theosophical Society as described by Blavatsky are:

1. To form a Universal Broth-erhood of Humanity without the distinction of race, colour or creed.

2. To promote the study of Aryan and other Scriptures, of the world’s religion and scienc-es, and to vindicate the impor-tance of old Asiatic literature, namely, of the Brahmanical, Buddhist, and Zoroastrian philosophies.

3. To investigate the hidden mysteries of nature under ev-ery aspect possible, and the psychic and spiritual powers latent in man especially.

The ‘ascended masters’ hold a deep concern for the welfare of humanity and operate essential-ly as supreme moral and spiritual

guides.

In addition to the spiritual aspect there is a notable physical aspect to them; they are considered to have a better understanding of the physical nature of the cosmos (a natural philosophy perhaps) and also utilise this wisdom in their superior science and technology.

It would appear therefore that George Adamski’s claims regard-ing his Venusian contact was, at one level, a re-interpretation of a pre-existing philosophy of Theoso-phy — in which ascended masters of the Venusian variety — came to be called the “Space Brothers”.

Alleged Military Figures Influence on Adamski Back in the Palomar café in 1946, according to Adamski, it was a chance meeting with six military officers that first suggested to him the idea that the flying saucers and cigar shaped craft that were being witnessed were of extra-terrestri-al in origin. Prior to this meeting Adamski claims that he had con-cluded that such craft must have been some secret military project.

While conversing with diners on the subject of the sighting of a ci-gar-shaped craft over San Diego several weeks earlier, Adamski notes that:

“Six military officers who were sitting at another table listened intently to all points brought up. Then one of them spoke up and said, ‘It is not as fantastic as it sounds. We know some-thing about this.’ I immediate-ly asked what knowledge they had, but they would not reveal it. Yet they assured us that the ship we had seen and were dis-cussing was not of this world.”

14

Adamski also claims to have been asked by people working for the military to attempt to take photo-graphs of flying saucers:

“Then late in 1949 four men came into the café at Palomar Gardens. Two of them had been in before and we had talked a little about the flying saucers. This day it was around noon, and raining -- really pouring. They ordered some lunch and we began talking about flying saucers again. One of these men was Mr J. P. Maxfield, and another his partner, Mr G. L. Bloom, both from Point Loma, Navy Electronics Laboratory near San Diego. The other two men were from a similar setup in Pasadena. One was in offi-cers’ uniform...

“They asked me if I could co-operate with them in trying to get photographs of strange craft moving through space, since I had smaller instruments than those at the big Observa-tory. I could manoeuvre mine more easily than those on top could be moved, especially my 6-incher, which was without a dome. I could point it as much as pointing a gun at ducks...

“I asked them where I should look to be the most likely to see the strange objects which they were asking me to try to photograph. We discussed the pros and cons of the possibility of bases being on the moon for interplanetary craft. And final-ly the moon was decided upon as a good spot for careful ob-servation.”

Researcher Joseph Farrell points out that it is unlikely that the military would be in such need to ask an amateur astronomer

and photographer to photograph these elusive craft “unless it was trying to manipulate him”.

Post-NICAP UFO ReportsThe aforementioned inventor, Townsend Brown had founded the civilian unidentified flying object research group NICAP in 1956 – the first such organisation that would be a model for later groups such as MUFON.

After leaving the organisation Brown would continue to assess UFO reports. To help her father, Brown’s daughter Linda would read through these reports to help organise them. She recalls that her father would often use the term “Adamski Scout Craft” in reference to certain descriptions. She also handled a model of one that he kept on his desk – only to be told that it was one of the most expen-sive paperweights in the world.

She would read through many of his documents that came through from Townsend’s colleagues at NICAP even after he had officially left the organisation:

“Material was being sent to him by Rose Hacket, his for-mer secretary at NICAP. She had stayed on with NICAP after Dad left for Florida but it was obvious that she was still work-ing for him and I always looked forward to these stacks of re-ports that she sent us. [It was] always interesting reading the reports of saucer sightings around the world. And it was then that he handed me those reports and told me to concen-trate on the ‘saucers that wob-bled.’ ‘Those are ours’ he said.

“I used to get into terrible fights with my classmates at school because they all thought Fly-

ing Saucers (this is the fifties remember) were either ridic-ulous fantasies or were dan-gerous and needed to be shot full of holes… I just thought they were being silly to not see something that I recognized as obviously real… and the shape of the ‘saucers’ which were ‘wobbling’ were gener-ally reported in those years as ... what Dad referred to as ‘the Adamski Scout Ship’ style.”

Thomas Townsend Brown’s Flying CapacitorsTownsend Brown had continued to work on the development of technology using the phenome-non that he discovered in 1918 while a student at California In-stitute of Technology. This early work led to a career on classified military projects and he is linked to work on the Philadelphia Ex-periment for U.S. Navy. While the detail of his work for the military is uncertain, what is known of his work comes after he re-joined civilian life.

In 1957 Brown met Agnew Bahson, a pilot who was working at a private funded laboratory in Windson-Salem. Bahson was experimenting with electrodynamics and gravitation with the objective of revolutionising the science of aeronautics. Together with Brown they worked towards harnessing the lift and trust potential of the Biefield-Brown effect; refining Brown’s earlier disk shaped “condensors”.

Inspired by a visit by Physicist Bryce DeWitt and his wife Cécile DeWitt-Morette, both professors at the University of North Carolina, Bahson and Brown shifted their focus to “parabolic canopy” design as these proved more successful than the earlier “condenser” type

disks. In film footage of the lab, the pair, along with J Frank King Jr. and Beth Ball, can be seen celebrating achieving 100% counterbary by drinking champagne out of laboratory beakers.

Brown’s “Adamski Scout Ship”In addition to the “condenser” and the “parabolic canopy” models tested by Bahson and Brown, they also tested experimental models that resembled an “Adamski Scout Ship”.

This design, rather than being a classic saucer shape, is still circular and could be described as half an oyster shell, hollowed out with three spherical nodes extending slightly below the skirt of the shell. More remarkably is the cylindri-cal dome shape compartment, situated above the disk complete with portholes.

Although it is not known if Townsend Browns path ever crossed with that of George Adamski, it is known that Adamski visited the Bahson labs on Sep-tember 12th 1960, after Brown had parted company with Bahson.

The PhotographsAt his initial encounter with Orthon, Adamski’s request to take photographs was apparent-ly refused. However, he claims to have photographed his Venusian Scout Craft on multiple occasions and even to have taken movie film of the object in the 1960’s. These photographs have been the source of controversy for decades with some prominent UFO researchers referring to them as being “obvi-ously faked”.

It is here that we find another anomalous coincidence with the style of the alleged Venusian Scout

Craft. This distinctive style can be seen in the photograph taken by Stephen Darbishire in Coniston in Cumbria, England in the 1950’s.

Stephen eventually declared the photograph to be a hoax, however in letters to UFO researcher Timothy Good in the 1990’s, Stephen informed Good that the photographs were indeed authentic; he claimed to have only recanted his initial claim of authenticity after the pressure of unwanted publicity got too much.

Another Time and PlaceLike the DeLorean car in the 1984 Spielberg movie “Back To The Future”, kitted out by a fiction-al inventor (Dr. Brown) with its famous “flux capacitor”, Adams-ki’s 1950’s depiction of an alien spacecraft looks dated and a symbol of its time.

It is Joseph Farrell’s premise that the craft that George Adamski witnessed — if he witnessed anything at all — was a terrestrial-ly built “flying saucer”. This would perhaps account for the “retro” appearance of the craft; whose style indicates a hint of the limita-tions of the technological age of the 1950’s.

It has been noted by other researchers that the UFO phenomenon appears to go through phases where significant aspects of UFO sightings can dominate the phenomenon only to disappear over a period of time. It is interesting to consider that rather than the phenomenon itself being the driving force of this change, it is possible that the change is indeed driven by our own society.

This need not necessarily be due to terrestrial UFO vehicles and oc-cupants following human societal trends. If consciousness is indeed a factor, and the UFO phenom-enon somehow draws from our own consciousness as suggested by some researchers, that could perhaps manifest as significant trends in the phenomenon; either driven by our expectation of it or by drawing from the witness in its manifestation. However this is just speculation.

Another DimensionWhat we do know, is that George Adamski made it his mission to continue an established tradition of contact with “others” specif-ically through channelled com-munications with the “ascended masters” of theosophy.

It is here that the similarity between this aspect of Adamski’s contacts and that of other contactees lies. George Hunt Williamson, who was

with Adamski immediately prior to his initial contact with Orthon, claimed to have had contact expe-rience himself; however this was limited to channelling. The British contactee George King chan-nelled and claimed to “meet” with Venusian masters. Unlike Adamski however, neither King nor William-son attempted to claim that these “masters” where entirely physical aliens.

This view has more commonality with contactees such as Barbara Marciniak and her channelled contact with the Pleiadians. Ac-cording to their imparted infor-mation, the Pleiadians are from the constellation Pleiades; a star cluster that, in our cosmology is deemed too young to be have given rise to an extraterrestrial civilisation, being only about 70 million years old. However, ac-cording to the Pleiadians commu-nique, they not only convey their messages over space but over time too, emanating from a future civilisation in that location.

Comparative MythologyBritish researcher Pierre Sabak suggests that the meaning of the term Venus in theosophy, and thus the related contactee doctrine, may be different from being simply a reference to an ascended abode on the second planet from our Sun. According to Sabak, his study into comparative linguistics indicates that Venus, the name of the Roman goddess, may actually be a covert reference to Sirius – the Dog Star.

Sirius is in the constellation Canis Major and is the brightest star in the night sky. There is also a sym-bolism reference linking Venus and Sirius. The Dogon tribe of Mali and the Serer of the Senegal and Gambia, West Africa, are among

the cultures that worship Sirius and whose symbol for it is a five pointed star – in common to other symbols of Venus.

Transmission of spiritual energyThe Aetherius Society is an organisation established by contactee George King and named after an ascended master named Aetherius. A central tenet of the society is that its followers actively engage in transmission of spiritual energy; a concept in common with ‘shaktipat’ (sending energy) in the both the Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

According to the Theosophical writers, Alice Bailey and Benjamin Crème, the Seven Stars of the Pleiades are believed to be the source of transmission of spiritu-al energy; part of a transmission that is collectively called the Seven Rays. According to Theosophy, an ascended master who resides at the Galactic Centre transmits this spiritual energy to the Seven Stars of the Great Bear, then on to Sirius. From Sirius, so theosophists tell us, it travels to our Sun and then on to the ascended master Sanat Kumara (referred to as the god of Earth) and finally through the seven Masters of the Seven Rays (traditionally Tibetan masters) to the human race.

An Intelligence ProblemThe veracity of claims of chan-nelled information and transfer-ence of spiritual energy aside for a moment; the main thing that strikes home is that contact with extraterrestrials, as claimed by the spiritualist contactees such George Adamski, is not a phenom-enon solely of the 1950’s era. It is a system of alleged communica-tion and influence that, as we can

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

17

FlYing saucers, contactees and extraterrestrial communication bY anthonY beckett

see with the Theosophical Society, has a lineage that goes back much further.

With regards to the veracity of the information, is it something we can prove? Science deals with natural things only and thus it cannot describe the big picture for the simple reason that channelled information — regardless of its actual origin — is born of intelli-gence, an artefact of a conscious mind, and therefore it can only be dealt with from that perspective.

Here, UFO researcher Jacques Vallee explains this problem in the context of a conversation with an acquaintance, whom has a back-ground in US Military Intelligence. Vallee gives him the pseudonym Major Murphy:

“Now the UFO phenomenon could be controlled by alien beings. ‘If it is,’ added the Ma-jor, ‘then the study of it doesn’t belong in science. It belongs in intelligence’. Meaning counter-espionage. And that, he point-ed out was his domain.

“‘In the field of counterespio-nage the rules are completely different.’ ‘You are a scientist. In science there is no concept of ‘price’ of information. Sup-pose I gave you 95 per cent of the data concerning a phe-nomenon. You’re happy be-cause you know 95 per cent of the phenomenon. Not so in

intelligence. If I get 95 percent of the data I know this is the ‘cheap’ part of the informa-tion. I still need the other 5%, but I will have to pay a higher price to get it. You see, Hilter had 95 per cent of the informa-tion about the landing in Nor-mandy. But he had the wrong 95 per cent!’”

So what of Bill Coopers claim that the U.S. Government and military had “learned that the aliens had been and were then manipulating masses of people through secret societies, witchcraft, magic, the occult, and religion”?

We have seen that according to these contactees and the spiritu-alists it seems that, yes, from their beliefs perspective at least, there is a history of communication with our galactic neighbours going back centuries if not millennia; a history that permeates through in the tra-ditions of many aboriginal peoples on this planet.

It is of course possible that this communication and influence is extraterrestrial contact by its nature and, if so, Bill Cooper’s claim may indeed have merit. The question of proof here is moot in a certain sense because, if it isn’t ex-traterrestrials – then exactly who is it that has had such a fundamen-tal influence on many thousands if not millions of people through-out the ages in propagating these beliefs?

In this limited and, in many ways simplistic look at extraterrestri-al communication, we have seen that communication is on the whole seen as positive and indic-ative of benevolent beings looking out for humanity. In the rational-isation that can be found in the literature of UFO religious belief systems there are subtle contra-dictions regarding extraterrestrial benevolence however.

While on the one hand they claim that aliens are our benevolent kin, the Aetherius Society perspective for example, has it is that, because of our backward evolution here on Earth, the Earth has been open to frequent attack from evil forces from other parts of the universe, attacks that the “masters” have apparently sought to repel.

So surely bad aliens must there-fore be responsible for that?

Maybe not…

It would seem though, that, as with the so called Law of Attrac-tion, as a species, the terrestri-al human race brings it on itself. Whatever it wants, it gets. While most people engaging in contact may choose to access (commune with) positive benevolent forces, we should ask if there are those in our society who would choose to seek out these negative energies alluded to by these spiritualist groups?

About the author

On the side of all this, there is the — shall we say, coincidence — of the development of terrestrial antigravity platforms around the time that the contactee movement began in the 1950’s.

While the contactees revitalised the occult theosophical beliefs in the era of the flying saucers, it seems the terrestrial secret keepers, whose work would have been expected to bring about a revolutionary technological leap in aviation, took that technology underground, into the black world

— and literally made it occult — secret — in the process.

The space program that the world is familiar with is seen by many as a symbol of the height of human technological achievement. How-ever, in the context that a secret space program exists utilising advanced, yet secret, technology — NASA is seen as a distraction masquerading as the pinnacle of our technical achievement. Many authors have reported on the occult influences at play in NASA and this can been seen going back

even before NASA’s inception.

The infamous occultist and rocket scientist, Jack Parsons, for instance, a key figure in the for-mation of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is also said to have met a “Spiritual Being”. A being that Parsons himself considered to be a Venusian. Coincidentally, this was in the same locale where eight years later George Adamski would meet with his own Venusian.

Looking back at ‘Contact’By Robbie Graham

In a time when the idea of alien visitation is becoming inseparable from Trans-formers and Battleships, the 1997 movie Contact seems more rare and precious than ever...

Based on the novel by famed astronomer Carl Sagan, the 1997 movie Contact has become a firm favourite in the UFO commu-nity. Sagan, of course, was a vehement UFO sceptic, and so it is ironic that Contact connects so profoundly with so many in the UFO field; ironic, but perhaps not surprising considering the movie lends itself freely to UFOlogical readings.

In the movie, SETI scientist Ellie Arroway (Jodie Foster) – whose character is inspired by real-life former SETI director Jill Tarter – discovers an alien signal beamed from Vega, a star in the con-stellation of Lyra, some 25 light years from Earth. Her discovery and its subsequent public disclosure by President Clinton consti-tutes proof that we are not alone in the universe and captures the imagination of the entire planet, sparking fervent scientific,

political and religious debate. Soon, Ellie and her team realize the signal is actually a complex schemat-ic for a transport pod designed to carry one person to a destination unknown. That destination, it tran-spires, is Vega itself, and is to be reached via multiple wormholes. Naturally, it is Ellie who takes the cosmic voyage, and, at the end of her epic journey, she finds herself in an elaborate simulacrum of a childhood memory: a warm beach in Pensacola, Florida. It is here that she speaks face-to-face with an alien in-telligence which has assumed the form of her dead father, whom she lost as a child: “We thought this might make things easier for you,” he says, smiling gently. No little green or Grey men for Ellie, then; no flying saucers, no motherships or gleaming alien city-scapes, only a mirage of Earthly forms created for her personal comfort. “You’re an interesting species, an interesting mix,” he tells her. “You’re capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you’re not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we’ve found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.” She longs to learn more before being sent home, but is told “This was just a first step. In time you’ll take

another… this is the way it’s been done for billions of years. Small moves, Ellie, small moves.” And so an individual is selected for contact and provided with philosophical nuggets but zero physical evidence of their alien encounter, before being left to tell their story to whomsoever will listen. Ellie, it seems, has much in common with the contactees of UFO lore.

“I can’t prove it”Back on Earth, during a government inquiry into her claims, Ellie is reminded by a panel member that she has “no evidence, no record, no artifacts. Only a story that, to put it mildly, strains credibility.” Ellie is asked: “why don’t you simply withdraw your testi-mony, and concede that this ‘journey to the center of the galaxy,’ in fact, never took place?” She responds:

“Because I can’t. I... had an experience... I can’t prove it, I can’t even explain it, but everything that I know as a human being, everything that I am tells me that it was real! I was given something wonder-ful, something that changed me forever... A vision of the universe, that tells us, undeniably, how tiny, and insignificant and how rare and precious we all are! A

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

21

looking back at ‘contact’ bY robbie graham

vision that tells us that we belong to something that is greater than ourselves, that we are not, that none of us, are alone! I wish I could share that. I wish that everyone, if only for one moment, could feel that awe, and humility, and hope. But... That continues to be my wish.”

Ellie is visibly frustrated. She has experienced direct contact with an alien intelligence, but she has done so in a manner that flies in the face of our preconceived notions (a saucer on the White House lawn, for example – a notion, which, ironically, was borne of cinema), and thus her claims are dismissed by official culture.

As Ellie leaves her hearing, the hardheaded atheist realizes that her contact experience was, in essence, a spiritual awakening not so different from those claimed by religious disciples. Indeed, the throngs of worshippers who greet her outside with placards hailing her discovery of “the new world” confirm her new status as a reli-gious icon. Like many a contact-ee, Ellie has attracted followers with her stories of otherworldly communion. Certain elements of society see fit to believe her, while most do not. Either way her story is out there.

Although Carl Sagan was UFO sceptic, the screenwriter for Contact, James V. Hart, is a self-proclaimed UFO believer. Not that this seems to have had much bearing on the film. Any UFOlog-ical readings we might ascribe to Contact the movie are also iden-tifiable in the book. Intentionally or not, the idea of ‘missing time’ features prominently as Ellie assumes her hyperspatial voyage has lasted hours or even days, when to the eyes of outside ob-

servers her transport pod trav-elled nowhere at all. It is implied that her experience occurred in the space between spaces. Cer-tainly it was beyond her limited comprehension and of those she would seek to convince of its ac-tuality – something UFO witnesses can relate to.

Contact and Clinton An intriguing UFOlogical side-note on Contact relates to President Bill Clinton. When in the movie the President announces the discov-ery of the alien signal, the Clinton we see and hear is the real Clinton – which is to say his image and words have not been manipulat-ed by the filmmakers, as could so easily have been done through digital trickery. The President says, in part:

“...If this discovery is confirmed, it will surely be one of the most stunning insights into our universe that science has ever uncov-ered. Its implications are as far reaching and awe inspiring as can be imagined. Even as it promises answers to some of our oldest questions, it poses still others even more fundamental. We will continue to listen closely to what it has to say as we continue the search for answers and for knowl-edge that is as old as humanity itself but essential to our people’s future...”

However, these words, although actually spoken by Clinton, were presented out of context in the movie. While in the scene in question it certainly sounds like Clinton is delivering a cautious dis-closure of contact with an alien in-telligence, in reality his comments were delivered in August 1996 and referred to the possible dis-covery of fossilized microbial life in a Martian meteorite. Director

Robert Zemeckis simply lifted this part of Clinton’s speech and used it to heighten the believabil-ity of his fictional movie. It was a decision that landed the director in hot water with the White House, which issued a complaint to the film’s producers citing un-authorized use of the President’s image. In truth, Clinton was probably delighted to be seen on the big screen announcing alien contact. By his own public admis-sion, the Democratic President was and is fascinated by the idea not only of extraterrestrial life, but of UFO visitation; he has even spoken publicly of his frustration at being stonewalled on the issue. At a speech in Belfast in 1995, the President made a point of bringing up the famous Roswell Incident of 1947: “If the United States Air Force did recover alien bodies, they didn’t tell me about it, either, and I want to know.” He was even more direct in a question and answer session following a speech in Hong Kong in 2005. When asked about Roswell, the President replied: “I did attempt to find out if there were any secret govern-ment documents that revealed things. If there were, they were concealed from me too. And, if there were, well I wouldn’t be the first American President that underlings have lied to, or that career bureaucrats have waited out. But there may be some career person sitting around somewhere, hiding these dark secrets, even from elected presidents. But if so, they successfully eluded me.”

A contemplative film calling to mind the likes of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and even 2001: A Space Odyssey, Contact is a spec-tacular sci-fi that milked every penny of its $90 million budget to gross in excess of $171 million worldwide. 17 years on from its

release Contact remains distinct from most all other movies to have explored the idea of human/alien interactions. It belongs to that lonely group of films which has dared to dream that life beyond the stars might one day extend to us a peaceful hand. Although from a screenwriting perspective it is arguably more challenging to explore the positive implications of otherworldly contact than the negative – explosions being easier

to pen than profound socio-polit-ical or spiritual debate – Contact is testament to the fact that the challenge can be met with gusto, and to both critical and commer-cial success. Here’s hoping that, in the years to come, Hollywood will be more inclined to shake ET’s hand rather than to blow it off with a bazooka and a one-liner.

Upcoming ConferencesExtraterrestrial Communication Conference

Saturday June 28th, 2014

In 2014 we have two major events in the British Ufology calendar. The first sees the return of our Extra-terrestrial Communication Confer-ence on Saturday June 28th, 2014.

The first event features lectures by experiencers and researchers into anomalous phenomena and extraterrestrial contact and com-munication.

From the USA, abduction ex-periencer and researcher Mike Clelland will take a deep look into the meaning of his own alien ex-periences and those of others.

Mike Clelland is a talented illus-trator and an avid outdoorsman, and many of his experiences have occurred while in the great outdoors. In his UFO research he has written extensively on the

subject of alien abductions, syn-chronicities, high strangeness and owls, as well as his own personal experiences. He has had a lifetime of unusual events that seem directly intertwined with the UFO reality and in his talk at the Extra-terrestrial Communication Con-ference he will take the audience on a journey through that world of high strangeness and present some fascinating insights into the true nature of his experiences.

Ellis Taylor, is an experiencer who first inspired the leading ET ab-duction therapist Mary Rodwell to

look at the alien abduction phe-nomenon. Ellis Taylor is a genuine and first hand experiencer of what really does lie in the ‘beyond’. Born in Bridgetown, Western Aus-tralia, he now resides in the UK, he has been described as “a shaman of the modern world”.

Lorraine Flaherty is a Past-lives therapist who has come across many cases where her subjects have described lives of oth-er-worlds, and even described abduction scenarios in past-lives as well as in the present. Lorraine

will present cases where her re-gression thearapy has uncovered bizarre tales of past lives on other planets and alien civilisations.

UFO experiencer and broadcast-er Tony Topping will be recount-ing his own personal experiences of UFO encounters and of agents that sought to persecute him as a result of this experience.

Exopolitics Great Britain producer Anthony Beckett will exploring the world of the 1950’s contactees, look at the what lies behind this

facinating and poorly understood facet of Extraterrestrial Commu-nication.

The event will be held in Leeds, West Yorkshire at Leeds Metropol-itan University’s The Rose Bowl at the city centre campus.

Dr. George King: Contactee with the Gods from Space

“Prepare yourself! You are to become the voice of Interplanetary Parliament.” – The Master Aetherius, to Dr. George King

“Prepare yourself! You are to become the voice of Interplanetary Parliament.” These words, spoken by an interplanetary intelligence known as The Master Aetherius, to Dr. George King on May 8th, 1954 in London, triggered a series of interplanetary contacts which would continue regularly until his passing in 1997. This is one of the great contactee stories – in my view the greatest. Controversial even in UFO circles, his cosmic en-counters are nevertheless a must-know for any serious ufologist.

Fusing spirituality and cosmology with straightforward common-sense, Dr. King’s legacy continues unabated through the organi-sation he started in 1955, The Aetherius Society, which has head-quarters, branches and groups in Europe, North America, Africa and Australasia, and members in many parts of the world.

Dr. King was born in 1919 and his childhood, sandwiched between two world wars, was spent in the English countryside, wherever his father’s work as a village school-master took the family. The hardy conditions, especially in North Yorkshire where he spent several of his formative years, were not helped by his poor health, giving him a practical grounding in the necessities of life. But even then

his central focus was on spiritual-ity and the nature of existence. He was also developing pronounced healing and psychic powers at an early age.

As a Quaker he took a principled stand in the Second World War, as his father had done in the First, by playing a non-combatant role in the fire service, of which he was a section leader during the London Blitz. The shocking human suffer-ing he encountered only furthered his pursuance of truth through personal realisation. It was thus, at the end of the war, that he turned to the little known practice in those days of yoga.

Instead of seeking material advancement through a formal education and lucrative career, he turned his attention to inner development through a demanding regime of spiritual,

mental and physical yoga exercises. He practised these for approximately eight hours a day for ten years, an extraordinary commitment for a westerner to make, especially at that time. To pay the bills, he worked in a variety of jobs, particularly as a driver.

Those who question why Dr. King would be chosen to be the channel for extraterrestrial intelli-gences, using trance medium-ship and telepathy to do so, should really supply a list of alternative candidates. Who else in 1954 in London, or any other city for that matter, had trained so intensively and so long in the advanced prac-tices necessary to become Primary Terrestrial Mental Channel as the Gods from Space described him? I have yet to hear of one.

Most of us, who have written and spoken in the media and other public forums about UFOs, are all too familiar with the closed-minded disbelief, which can assail us, especially from the establishment. Imagine then declaring the truth about flying saucers and their interplanetary controllers in the deferential world of post-war Britain. When Dr. King led a public rally for the truth about UFOs to be revealed by the government of the day in Trafalgar Square, the climate was

markedly different from that of today’s disclosure project, which still receives political resistance. He was mercilessly ridiculed in Fleet Street, but his bravery shone through and he gave regular demonstrations of his cosmic medium-ship, often in the Caxton Hall in Westminster and, on one occasion, on television for the BBC.

The messages he received revealed the truth about extra-terrestrial spacecraft and their reasons for being here, giving accurate public forecasts of when and where they would be oper-ating around the world. As with certain other claimed contacts of that period, there were detailed warnings about the use of nuclear power. These included one sen-sational revelation of a nuclear accident in the Soviet Union which was published by Dr. King 18 years before it was confirmed in the western media. Even The New Sci-entist admitted in 1978 that they had been “scooped by a UFO”.

But predominantly these extrater-restrial communications, known as cosmic transmissions, were spiritual in nature.

They described the multidimen-sional life existing throughout the universe, even on planets which we might consider to be uninhab-

itable. Perhaps the most conten-tious of these at the time was Dr. King’s claim to be a channel for The Master Jesus who came from the planet Venus in the so-called ‘Star of Bethlehem’. As controver-sial – heretical even – as it seemed to some, the sublime voice and moving words of The Twelve Blessings which The Master Jesus delivered through Dr. King in 1958, has transformed the lives of thou-sands around the world and con-tinues to do so.

Dr. King’s mission as Primary Ter-restrial Mental Channel expanded when he was commissioned by the Cosmic Masters to climb 18 moun-tains in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, so that they could be charged with powerful spiritual energies. Ad-ditionally, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania was charged without re-quiring his physical presence. Des-ignated as Operation Starlight, this demanding and often dangerous task was completed successfully in 1961, since when pilgrimag-es have been conducted to all of them. Thousands of pilgrims have travelled to one or more of these – this year alone, pilgrimages by the Society have already been sched-uled in Britain, France, USA and New Zealand.

Dr. King was instructed to move his residence to the United States and unquestioningly did so, even though he always remained a citizen of the United Kingdom, which he visited regularly. He established the Society in Los Angeles, and to this day the Soci-ety’s two headquarters are based in both countries. In LA he received a series of Cosmic Transmissions called The Nine Freedoms from an elevated Martian Intelligence which, along with The Twelve Blessings, forms the centrepiece

of Aetherius Society teaching.

From the challenging skills of mountaineering in hazardous con-ditions, Dr. King was now directed to the arena of seamanship. Whereas the mountains had been charged in Operation Starlight so that spiritual energy could be sent by pilgrims to heal and uplift humanity, an even greater consid-eration now entered the equation: the well-being of the planet upon which we live.

Dr. King was a champion of ecology long before the term became fash-ionable. His ecology however was not solely focused on the material survival of the human race, but upon the Mother Earth as a living, compassionate, suffering Being. He was given the mission Opera-tion Bluewater, which took place at sea, off the California coast and required him to skipper a boat with a small crew. This time the energy was sent by the Cosmic Masters through the waters directly to the planet herself.

Ten years on from the initial Command, he had indisputably become a UFO contactee with a difference. His ‘can do’ practical-ity, coupled with other-worldly sensibilities, meant that fair-mind-ed believers and disbelievers alike had to acknowledge his one hundred percent commitment to his mission. He worked tirelessly seven days a week with the same single-minded determination he had shown when he first took up the practice of yoga. With just a few helpers and a very limited budget, he continued regardless of the noises off, which could be hostile to say the least.

He revealed that, on July 8th 1964 the Mother Earth, as a living intel-ligence, was initiated with great

spiritual powers by the Gods from Space and that a quickening of vibrations upon the surface of Earth would gradually start to take place. This would mean increased freedom of spiritual expression but also could exacerbate the more extreme behaviour of fanatics and extremists. In short, the human race would embark upon a period which has been referred to as the Great Change.

He identified the asteroid belt as the planet from which the human race originated, but which had been destroyed through atomic warfare. He spoke of the previous civilisations on this Earth of Lemuria and Atlantis which had also been destroyed by nuclear conflict, and warned of the same challenge facing us today. He iden-tified the solution to the environ-mental and humanitarian crisis which overshadows our future as being an outpouring of spiritual energy to the world as a whole.

Dr. King had now moved beyond being solely an instrument for the Gods from Space to also being an active contributor to their plan for our world. He invented equipment and devised missions which were accepted by the Cosmic Masters whose authority was always sac-rosanct to him.

One of these missions, Op-eration Prayer Power, which has been featured extensive-ly in television broadcasts around the world, is now performed in the UK, USA and New Zealand. It enables attenders to store spiritu-al energy which has been invoked through prayer and mantra in physical containers known as batteries. This means that energy, stored by hundreds of people who have each spent

many hours in prayer or mantra in the vicinity of the battery, can be released in conjunction with the Cosmic Masters in a matter of minutes. In a disaster situation caused by an earthquake, hurri-cane or war, for example, it would be the equivalent of hundreds of people gathering at that exact instant when their prayer would be most needed and directing it to the spot instantaneously. The Society, which has kept logs of the results of such energy releases, has recorded significant outcomes on several occasions.

Most contactees have an out-standing experience, be it a close encounter or a so-called abduc-tion, which they speak and write about for many years to come. Some, such as George Adamski and Dan Fry, claimed to have a number of these. It is extremely rare though, if not unprecedent-ed, for any contactee to have regular communications over a forty-three year period, as Dr. King did up to his passing in 1997.

As a close colleague, friend and student of Dr. King, who was in touch with him almost on a daily basis for the last twenty years of his life, I can vouch for the fact that he was always on duty.

He could be contacted by the Cosmic Masters at any time, whether convenient to him or

not. He was, as you would expect from a master of yoga, a highly in-telligent man who was not prone to fantasy or wishful thinking. On the contrary he was, strange as it may sound, a very down-to-earth

person with a discerning, enquir-ing mind and an infectious sense of humour. He did not seek eccen-tricity for its own sake, but much preferred tradition and conformity where possible. He disliked public-ity but he recognised that he was obliged to propagate the cosmic message he had received without trying to convert, indoctrinate or recruit anyone against their will.

It is predictable but inaccu-rate – and very lazy – of some in the media to describe him as a cult leader, because he eschewed the type of be-haviour for which certain cults have become known. To the end of his life he lived very modestly with his wife, Monique, who was one of his leading disciples, split-ting his time between an average-sized bungalow in

Santa Barbara, California, a small apartment at the Society’s head-quarters in Los Angeles, and an

even smaller one when he visited the European Headquarters in London. He worked tirelessly in the last ten years of his life, with a few advisors, to ensure that the Society could continue without his unique abilities as a UFO con-tactee. None of us were equipped to replace him, and it would be delusory for anyone to think they would be in the foreseeable

future. Despite this, thanks to him, we are still able to cooperate directly with the Gods from Space in no less than five missions on land and water, without needing a terrestrial mental channel as he had been.

As the co-author of the last book he published in his lifetime, Contacts With The Gods From

Space, I could easily be described as biased. Nevertheless I must say that I believe Dr. George King to be one of the greatest Masters ever to visit our world. For the record, he was also a wonderful man who is in my thoughts, as he is in those of many others, every day.

Everyone in society today has heard of UFOs and the possibility that this phenomenon may represent the arrival on earth of extraterrestrials, advanced spiritu-al beings, or beings from another dimension.

Everyone inside the UFO research field is also aware that there is a strong skeptical group of scientists that are determined to crush any conclusion that UFOs represent anything outside the random physical world view.

Their major counter to UFO researchers claims that UFOs represent something non-local and separate from the physical world view is usually summed up with the expression, “There is no conclusive evidence that proves the UFO claim.”

This sets up a high mountain for Ufology to climb because the skeptics are dogmatically hard liners in their religious world view that everything is physical. They are riveted with fear, like a small child on his bed in the dark, waiting for the bogeyman man under the bed to reach out and grab him.

Belief or Proof? No one will ever prove the UFO non-local argument to a skeptic because proof itself is illusive and im-possible to prove to someone who it determined does not to believe. Moreover, in the end everything is belief, and proof is an elusive word with no real meaning.

Take the example of something that should seem quite straight forward and considered proved – people from time to time get a hole-in-one while golfing. When you look closely, however, this is just a belief we hold like everything else in life if we have no direct experience.

To use a golfing analogy — if I tell you I got a hole in one yesterday, like a UFO sighting I might claim, you can only believe or disbelieve my story. There is no proof. You cannot know unless you were a witness, and even then there still exists the possibility that I, like a magician, made you think you saw a hole in one.

The things you base your beliefs on are the same things that support most beliefs in UFOs.

Someone told you the story of the hole in one or the UFO and you chose to believe them.

Someone filmed the hole in one or the UFO and you chose to believe that the film was not altered or faked.

You assumed that the hole in one or the UFO hap-pened because so many people have told such stories and this represents collective reality.

Therefore understanding that only those who have had direct experience can really know, what is the best evidence for UFOs that support the belief that UFOs are real non-local phenomena and probably not from this physical world?

The Evidence1) The Canadian government said UFOs are a reality. There is a formally Top Secret document that is held in the Canadian government archives that says just that. The Canadian government does not discount the document as a fraud. The four page document was written in November 1950 and was finally de-classified in 1978.

The document sums up “discrete enquiries” made in the United States through the Canadian Embassy

about the subject of flying saucers.

The memo, authored by the head radio engineer at the Depart-ment of Transport, stated that the America officials had revealed five key facts:

Flying saucers exist.

It is the most highly classified subject in the United States. It was even two points high-er than the hydrogen bomb which would not be first tested till two years later.

A small group headed by Dr. Vannevar Bush, the former sci-ence advisor to President Roo-sevelt was trying to figure out what was going on.

The subject is considered of tremendous significance to the American government.

Things such as mental phe-nomena might be associated with the flying saucers.

2) A 43 year veteran of the CIA is on the record that the UFO phe-nomenon is real and extraterres-trial.

This man, Chase Brandon, came forward in front of millions of people to make the statement. He, had been a covert agent for the CIA from 1970—1995, and then became the CIA liaison man to Hollywood. Brandon described that period as being “paid for 10 years to be the most overt face and voice in the CIA, second only to George Tenet…”

In 2005 Brandon retired but as he described it:

“No one wants to give it up… Most of us still like the work

especially if we can help… We like to contribute… Yes you stick about and work under contract.”

The story Brandon told was that he was at CIA Langley headquar-ters in the Historical Intelligence Collection area which is a vault containing archive boxes of files. While waiting for a film crew to arrive he was looking at all the labels on the various boxes and saw one marked Roswell. He looked inside and,

“It was not a damn weather balloon — it was what it was billed as when people first re-ported it. It was a craft that clearly did not come from this planet, it crashed, and I don’t doubt for a second that the use of the word ‘remains’ and ‘ca-davers’ was exactly what peo-ple were talking about. One hundred per cent guarantee, in my heart and soul I say – Ros-well happened. There was a craft… absolutely cadavers.”

Asked about this public state-ment a CIA spokesman did not call Brandon a liar. They simply said they could not find the files Brandon had referred to.

Bill Gates, former CIA Director and Secretary of Defense was asked about Brandon claim in February 2013. He defended Brandon and did not discount the extraterres-trial claim. “I have a lot of respect for Chase… So I’m not going to question Chase. I’m just telling you what I said.”

3) Many people say that when the president stand up and says it is real then they will believe it. It is therefore important to note that Ronald Reagan did just that.

The word of the president is very important because he is the most powerful person in the world, and if there is any reality to the UFO phenomena he should know.

The President is also at the top of any agency that might be running a cover-up such as the US military. The president is the civilian com-mander of the military which would make him in charge; if the intelligence agencies are running the cover-up they all work for the president as they provide him in-formation. That is their main job. If the government is running the cover-up the president is the CEO of the government and therefore in charge. If someone is dealing and negotiating with aliens it has to involve the president who is constitutionally responsible for any treaties or negotiations with foreign entities.

With these points in mind on June 27th, 1981 President Ronald Reagan confirmed publically that the ET story was real.

The event was the screening of the movie “ET: The Extraterres-trial” in the White House theatre by director Steven Spielberg. There were 39 people in the room besides the president.

According to Spielberg, who put his statement on tape, Reagan stood up after the film was finished,

“and looked around the room like he was doing a head-count... and he said, ‘I wanted to thank you for bringing E.T. to the White House. We really en-joyed your movie,’ and then he looked around the room and said, ‘And there are a number of people in this room who know that everything on that screen is absolutely true.’ And

belieF or prooF? uFologY and the VeriFicationist’s dilemma bY grant cameron

he said it without smiling!”

4) Another president who con-firmed there was a solid reality to the UFO phenomena was Jimmy Carter who had his own UFO sighting. According to actress Shirley MacLaine:

“He told me many times that when I first wrote ‘Out on a Limb’ that he would support me – that it was true - there were occupants. Why should we be the only people in the universe? He wanted to shine the sunshine laws on intelli-gence to expose it – to see how the people would react but he said he didn’t and wouldn’t and couldn’t as he explained to me.”

This statement by MacLaine is given further support by Daniel Sheehan, the former chief counsel for the Jesuit headquarters in Washington, D.C., who has testi-fied publically on many occasions that he worked on two highly classified studies on ETs and UFOs that were prepared for Carter by Marcia Smith, whose was senior level specialist in aerospace and telecommunications policy at the Congressional Research Service. As a part of his work Sheehan was given access to the classified portion of the USAF Project Blue Book in May 1977.

As to the two reports Sheehan stated:

“The first report on extrater-restrial intelligence stated the Congressional Research Service of the official United States Congressional Library, in its official report to the Pres-ident, through the House of Representatives Science and Technology Committee, con-

cludes that there are from two to six highly intelligent, high-ly technologically developed civilizations in our own galaxy over and above our own.

“In the second report they had drawings of different shapes of UFOs that have been sight-ed,” continued Sheehan. “They didn’t cite any particular cases, but they said that they believed there was a significant number of instances where the official United States Air Force inves-tigations were unable to dis-count the possibility that one or more of these vehicles was actually from one of these ex-traterrestrial civilizations. They put this together, and sent it over to the president. I ended up seeing a copy of it.”

5) President Barack Obama also confirmed reality to the UFO and ET subjects in statement that he has made in public.

In a March 2012 speech in Roswell New Mexico Obama started his speech by telling a humorous story about Roswell questions asked to him by young boys. Following this he paused before going to the speech and stated, “We will keep out secrets here,” thus confirming that there is a secret about the Roswell crash that he knows and which must be kept secret.

In May 2012 during a White House tour for Men in Black actor Will Smith and his family, his son Jaden started to ask a question about aliens as they touring the situation room. Anticipating the question that was coming Obama stated, “The aliens, right? OK, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of extraterrestrials but I can tell you if there had been a top secret meeting and if there would

have had to have been a discus-sion about it, it would have taken place in this room.”

6) Edward Ruppelt, who was the original head of the official gov-ernment study of UFOs known as Project Blue Book, wrote in his 1956 book “The Report on Uniden-tified Flying Objects” stated that an USAF estimation of the UFO problem in 1948, just after the major sightings had started, con-cluded it was an extraterrestrial phenomena. The fact that the first major investigator for the govern-ment stated that the government knew it was extraterrestrial almost from day one has been forgotten by UFO history. Ruppelt wrote:

“The situation was the UFO’s; the estimate was that they were interplanetary! When the estimate was completed, typed, and approved it start-ed up through the channels to higher command echelons. It drew considerable comment but no one stopped it on the way up.”

7) Senator Barry Goldwater provided a number of pieces of evidence that UFOs are real and that non-human entities are involved. Goldwater is a key figure as he held the position of the Chairman of the Senate intel-ligence committee which would have placed him at the top of the potential members of congress to be briefed about the classified aspects of the UFO phenomena. The strong evidence provide by Goldwater included: Speaking of an encounter with powerful General Curtis LeMay at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the early 1960s while running for President Goldwater stated:

“I think the government does

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

31

knows. I can’t back that up but I think that at Wright Patterson Field if you could get into cer-tain places you would find out what the Air Force and gov-ernment knows about UFOs. Apparently a spaceship landed and it was all hushed up and people had not heard much about it. I called Curtis LeMay and I said ‘General, I know we have a room at Wright Patter-son where you put all this se-cret stuff. Can I go in there?’ I have never heard LeMay get mad but he gotten madder than hell at me. He cussed me out and said don’t ever ask me that question again.

After he became Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee he took a letter from a ham radio friend on the accuracy of the in-formation in the 1980 “Roswell Incident” book. Goldwater hinted that the extraterrestrial conclu-sion in the book had merit:

“Relative to your question about the accuracy of the de-tails in the ‘Roswell Incident,’ they are partially true, but not completely. I can’t give you any other answer than that so please don’t push it.”

In a 1975 letter Goldwater stated:

“About ten or twelve years ago, I made an effort to find out what was in the building at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where the information is stored that has been collect-ed by the Air Force, and I was understandably denied this re-quest. It is still classified above Top Secret. I have, however, heard that there is a plan un-der way to release some -- if not all -- of this material in the near future.”

In a 1981 letter Goldwater stated:

“To tell you the truth, Mr. Gra-ham, this thing has gotten so highly-classified, even though I will admit there is a lot of it that has been released, it is just impossible to get anything on it.”

8) I questioned Dick Cheney about the reality of UFOs and he, like Goldwater and the Canadian gov-ernment, indicated the subject existed inside government but was classified. The question came when he was an April 2001 guest on the Diana Rehm radio show in Washington D.C.. I asked,

“In all your jobs in government (Cheney was Chief of Staff in the Ford White House, Sec-retary of Defense in the Bush Sr. White House, and Vice President in the Bush Jr. white House), have you ever been briefed on the subject of UFOs, and if so when was it and what were you told.”

Cheney paused and then replied,

“If I had been briefed on that subject it would probably be classified, and I couldn’t talk about it.”

9) General Wesley Clark was a United States 4-Star Army General who held a unified command putting him in a position to be briefed on the reality of the UFO situation. In November 2004 he was asked by Dr. David Rudiak if he had been briefed on the subject of UFOs. This question was asked in light of a statement Clark had made while running for president in 2004 stating he believed that we could go past the speed of light. Clark’s replies indicated he knew what was going on and that

there was a non-human reality to the UFO subject. This was the con-versation.

Q: Gen. Clark, when you were running for president, you said you thought mankind would one day fly faster than light and visit the stars. My question is, when you were in the mili-tary were you ever briefed on the subject of U.F.O.s?

A: I heard a bit. In fact, I’m go-ing to be in Roswell, New Mex-ico tonight.

Q: So you were briefed?

A: There are things going on. But we will have to work out our own mathematics.

10) In 2013, at my request, Jesse Marcel Jr. told a story about being approached by Dick D’Amato, a legal assistant to the Senate Ap-propriations Committee who was sent with every classified clear-ance and the power of the Senate to find out what was going on at Area 51. The appropriation com-mittee was responsible for allo-cating the money spent by the US government and they wanted to know if we were in fact back engi-neering UFOs.

Marcel told the story of being taken to a secure room in the sub-basement of the Capitol and sat at a large boardroom table. On the table was a copy of the book “Majestic”, written by Whitley Strieber which told the story of the 1947 Roswell crash and the above Top Secret group known as MJ-12 that had been formed to control the extraterrestrial secret.

Pointing to the book, D’Amato stated, “This is not fiction.”

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

32

belieF or prooF? uFologY and the VeriFicationist’s dilemma bY grant cameron

Asked by Marcel when he was going to let the people know, D’Amato stated,

“If it were up to me I would have done it yesterday. I’m just here to investigate the costs of keeping it secret. In reality there is a black government, and they have control of the debris. They answer to no one. They are not elected and they have unlimited funds to spend. They’re the ones who have it. They are the ones who have control over it.

11) And finally a piece of evidence that might not seem like evidence but it is. It concerns a speech given by Dr. Lynne Kitei to a group of 281 school children.

Dr. Ketei is the main researcher behind the March 1997 Phoenix light case. Before the lecture began Dr. Kitei asked how many children believed we were alone in the Universe. Not a single hand went up. Then she asked how believed there was other intelligent life in the Universe. Every hand went up.

These are just a few items that point out that there is evidence which backs up the reality of UFOs and its non-local characteristics. There are many other things that could be raised like the fact that 11% (35 million) Americans report having seen a UFO, or that a Roper poll in the 1990s showed 2% (6.3 million) Americans have reported symptoms similar to alien abduc-tion.

There have been tens of thousands of photos, over 17000 humanoid report in one data base alone held by Albert Rosales, 4000 landing trace cases, over 600 1st, 2nd, and 3rd hand witnesses that state the 1947 UFO crash was not a weather or Mogul balloon.

The evidence is there but “to ev-erything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

Like the group of school kids who unanimously voted that we are not alone in the Universe, the accepted reality of the UFO truth is just a matter of time.

By Grant Cameron April 2014

Grant Cameron became involved in Ufology as the Vietnam War ended in May 1975 with personal sightings of an object which locally became known as Charlie Red Star.

The sightings occurred in Carman, Manitoba about 25 miles north of the Canada-US border. Hundreds of other people sighted objects at the same time during a prolonged flap of sightings.

Over the next 18 months he had many sightings of large objects and small (monitor) objects in the area. He spent countless days in the area photographing a series of strange objects and interviewing hundreds of witnesses who were involved.

After composing a manuscript about the flap, he moved on to research the work of the late Wilbert B. Smith who headed up the Canadian government flying saucer investigation known as Project Magnet between 1950

to 1954. During two decades of work on Smith, Cameron was able to collect most of Smith’s files and written material and he in-terviewed most of the associates around Smith who worked on the flying saucer investigation.

In the past few years Cameron has turned his research interests to the involvement and actions of the President of the United States in the UFO problem, making over 25 trips to the National Archives and most of the various Presiden-tial archives looking for presiden-tial UFO material.

Some highlights of his presiden-tial UFO research were a chance to question Vice-president Dick Cheney on his knowledge of the UFO subject, and a FOIA to the White House Office of Science and Technology which yielded 1,000 pages of UFO documents from the Clinton administration.

He has lectured widely in Canada,

Europe, and the United States and in September 2005 he was denied access to the United States to lecture on UFO’s and why the gov-ernment has chosen to withhold the truth.

“Like a U.F.O. you came to me and blew away life’s misery, Out the blue life’s energy, Out the blue you came to me”

Lyrics from “Out of the Blue” by John Lennon — from the album Mind Games, published by Apple Records 1973

The Beatles will un-doubtedly go down in history as the greatest musical group ever. John Lennon, who started the group in the fifties, will probably go down in history as the driving force behind the group.

The group started out as the Quarry Men. Paul Mc-Cartney was invited into the group by John who was impressed with his talent and Paul brought in George Harrison. Later these three replaced drummer Pete Best with Ringo Starr and the rest was history.

What many don’t know is that UFOs played a role in John Lennon’s life, and he may have been an abductee based on some of the things that have been reported about his experiences.

The first thing to consider related to aliens is the name of the band. The band started off as the Quarry Men, which changed to Johnny and the Moondogs, and then the Rainbows. Most histories concede that the name Beatles came from John.

John liked the name The Crickets (from Buddy Holly’s band), and the story is told that based on this, John’s friend Stuart Sutcliffe suggested the name Beetles. Then it was changed to Beatles with an A instead of an E.

When Lennon was asked, “How did the band get its name?” he would reference a dream that he had. “I had a vision that a man came unto us on a flaming pie, Lennon would say, ‘You are Beatles with an A.’ And so we were.”

Those who have studied abductees or experienc-ers will immediately pick up the flaming pie to be a screen image for a glowing red flying saucer used by the aliens to get across a message while masking the true nature of who they were. This interpretation is supported by John’s later accounts of close encoun-ters with UFOs and by an album produced in 1997 by Paul McCartney that continue the story of the man of the flaming pie.

Flaming Pie was the tenth studio album by Paul McCartney. The first song of the album talks about John’s man who came on the flaming pie. The lyrics of the title song start:

“Making love underneath the bed, Shooting stars from a purple sky, I don’t care how I do it, I’m the man on the flaming pie.”

On the album cover of the flaming pie album there is a drawing of the flaming pie which looks much more like a flying saucer than a pie.

John Lennon would also go on to describe two very dramatic UFO experiences that were not just lights in the sky. The first was a very close encounter. The second event was complete with missing memory and an object that had been given to him by four “bug-like” beings.

The first UFO event reported by Lennon occurred on August 23rd, 1974 at May Pang’s 52nd street New York penthouse apartment after spending a long day at the Record Plant East recording studio. When Lennon first saw the object he crawled out of the window onto part of the roof.

John was very open about what had occurred and

later described what he saw clearly despite the fact that he was very short sighted and didn’t have his glasses on;

“If you see a little note on Walls and Bridges (album) you will see it says ‘I saw a UFO.’ I just finished doing Walls and Bridg-es. I had just mastered it or had done the last tape of it, and I was just reading, relaxing, feel-ing good.

“It was summer in New York and I had the window open, and low and behold there was this thing just hovering about a hundred yards away. I saw it so close. It wasn’t in the sky or nothing. I could have hit it with a brick if I had thrown a stone at it. I couldn’t see the colors because it was dusk, but it was a good clear summer night.

“The sky was very clear, and around the bottom of it were ordinary looking electric light bulbs blinking off and on al-ternatively like on a billboard. On top of it was a red light; the thing that I noticed was that there was no noise. I could hear that freeway down below with all the cars going, so I realized it’s not a helicopter – then it must be a balloon.

“It was so close to the rooftop it couldn’t be a balloon. All the rational things I went through - not a helicopter - not a bal-loon. It’s too close to the roof and it’s manoeuvring around too much to be a balloon. So I just watched it and it was there about 5 or 10 minutes and then it went off down the east river.”

May Pang recalled her version of what had occurred,

“I remember I was just getting dressed when John started shouting for me to come out onto the terrace. I yelled that I would be right there but he kept screaming for me to join him that instant. As I walked out onto the terrace my eyes caught this large circular ob-ject coming towards us. It was shaped like a flattened cone and on top was a large brilliant red light. It was not pulsating like any of the big aircraft that we would see landing at New-ark Air Port.

“When it came closer we could make out a row of circular white lights that ran around the entire rim of the craft. These were also flashing off and on. There was so many of these lights that it was daz-zling…it was about the size of a Lear jet and it was so close if we had something to throw we could have hit it very easily.

“During the time that it was directly overhead I could hear no noise. We often had heli-copters around but this was as silent as the night 17 stories above street level. Finally the object passed from view. The object returned and the light was so bright coming from the craft that no additional detail could be seen. We took a cou-ple of pictures but they turned out over exposed. All night long John kept repeating, ‘I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I’ve finally seen a flying saucer.’”

John called up Finally Bob Gruen, his long-time friend and photog-rapher who took the film John captured but the pictures did not turn out. Gruen phoned the police for John and was told his call was the third one from the east side

reporting a UFO. The New York Daily News told Gruen they had five calls related to a UFO.

Lennon would go on to write a song called “No One Told me” in which he said “There’s UFOs over New York, and I ain’t too surprised.” It was not released by Yoko Ono till 1983 and was the last 10 ten hit in the UK by Lennon.

The second Lennon UFO encoun-ter occurred later in the same Dakota apartment in 1975, while Yoko was expecting Sean, John’s only child with Yoko. The account comes from a story told by Israeli psychic Uri Geller who lived one block away from Lennon in New York City. The two had become friends in the 1970s and would meet secretly once a week in the coffee shop of the Sherry Nether-land Hotel.

He was in bed with Yoko Ono when he was suddenly woken up by a bright light coming under the door to the apartment like there was a fire in the hallway. Realizing that this may be an emergency situation he tried to wake up Yoko but was unable to do so.

According to Geller this was the story as told by Lennon;

“You ain’t f___in’ gonna be-lieve this. About six months ago, I was asleep in my bed, with Yoko, at home, in the Da-kota Building. And suddenly, I wasn’t asleep. Because there was this blazing light round the door. It was shining through the cracks and the keyhole, like someone was out there with searchlights, or the apartment was on fire.

“That was what I thought — intruders, or fire. I leapt out of

bed, and Yoko wasn’t awake at all, she was lying there like a stone, and I pulled open the door. There were these four people out there.”

‘“Fans?” I asked him’ said Geller.

“Well they didn’t want my f—-in’ autograph. They were, like, little. Bug-like. Big bug eyes and little bug mouths and they were scuttling at me like roach-es.”

‘He broke off and stared at me.’

“I’ve told this to two other peo-ple, right? One was Yoko, and she believes me. She says she doesn’t understand it, but she knows I wouldn’t lie to her. I told one other person, and she didn’t believe me.

“She laughed it off, and then she said I must have been high. Well, I’ve been high, I mean right out of it, a lot of times, and I never saw anything on acid that was as weird as those f—-in’ bugs, man.

“I was straight that night. I wasn’t dreaming and I wasn’t tripping. There were these creatures, like people but not like people, in my apartment.”

‘What did they do to you?’ Lennon swore again.

“How do you know they did anything to me, man?”

‘Because they must have come for a reason.’

“You’re right. They did some-thing. But I don’t know what it was. I tried to throw them out, but, when I took a step towards them, they kind of pushed me

back. I mean, they didn’t touch me. It was like they just willed me. Pushed me with willpower and telepathy.”

‘And then what?’

“I don’t know. Something hap-pened. Don’t ask me what. Either I’ve forgotten, blocked it out, or they won’t let me re-member. But after a while they weren’t there and I was just lying on the bed, next to Yoko, only I was on the covers.

“And she woke up and looked at me and asked what was wrong. I couldn’t tell her at first. But I had this thing in my hands. They gave it to me.”

‘What was it?’. Lennon dug into his jeans pocket;

“I’ve been carrying it round ever since, wanting to ask somebody the same ques-tion. You have it. Maybe you’ll know.”

‘I took the metal, egg-like object and turned it over in the dim light. It seemed solid and smooth, and I could make out no markings. I’ve never seen anything like it.’

‘“Keep it.” John told me. “It’s too weird for me. If it’s my ticket to another planet, I don’t want to go there.”’

Uri Geller holds the small egg object that he claims was given by Beatles member John Lennon. Lennon’s stories is that is was given to him by aliens in one of his two major UFO encounters.

The bug encounter strongly suggests some sort of abduc-tion or contactee experience. This is because alien type crea-

tures are mentioned, there was a blank period that John could not remember and John was not able to wake Yoko. This type of “turning off” of a partner to an abduction is often reported.

The abduction possibility is also supported by the co-author of the book about the Rendlesham Forest case “Left at East Gate” Larry Warren who wrote that he talked to May Pang.

In the conversation he had with her she indicated that John had told her that he believed that he had indeed been abducted in Liv-erpool as a small boy. Larry wrote;

“In fact he told me that more than once he suspected he had been “abducted” as a child back in Liverpool!

“And he felt that experience was responsible for making him feel different from other people for the rest of his life.

“Abducted” I said. “You mean by aliens?” May Pang an-swered. “Yes, but John didn’t go into detail about it”

From a reliable source: the Beatles were interested in UFOs, but at the time, talking about UFOs was debunked and degraded. Due to the “giggle factor,” few editors would mention UFOs. Also, the Beatles were experimenting with LSD and other drugs, and for them to speak of off-world entities did not help anyone.

During the 1977-79 world-wide UFO flap, the Beatles broke up and gossip about their personal lives were “managed.” If John Lennon were alive today, he would have attended the Citizen’s Hearing in Washington DC last year.

“Though we’ll never know for sure, we hope the aliens on-board the craft that buzzed John Lennon’s 53rd Street Pent-house apartment weren’t shy. For, according to the late Beat-le’s ex-girlfriend, the famed mod rocker was standing on the balcony in his birthday suit enjoying the view when his qui-et evening at home was inter-rupted by the likes of a vehicle from another world. May Pang is one of the warmest people you’d ever want to meet. She’s quick to smile and bring you into her confidence.

“For unlike many others in the rock and roll business who can sometimes take themselves too seriously, May is happy to share her remembrances about one of the greatest leg-ends of our time. John was al-ways fascinated with the un-usual, May explained, handing me his once-treasured copy of the I Ching that she still has on her library shelf. He was always caught up in his fate his desti-ny. He was it seems - trying to understand his greatness and the impact he had on millions growing up in a very confused, almost lost generation” — May Pang.

May Pang was more than willing to give me the scoop on John’s Big Apple UFO encounter because - as it turned out - she was right there at his side during the incident. We

had just ordered up some pizza and since it was such a warm evening, we decided to step out on the terrace. There were no windows directly facing us from across the street, so John just stepped outside with nothing on in order to catch a cool breeze that was coming in right off the East River. I remember I was just inside the bedroom getting dressed when John started shouting for me to come out onto the terrace.

I yelled back that I would be right there, but he kept screaming for me to join him that instant. As I walked out onto the terrace, my eye caught this large, circular object coming towards us. It was shaped like a flattened cone, and on top was a large, brilliant red light, not pulsating as on any of the aircraft we’d see heading for a landing at Newark Airport. May says she and John stood there mesmerized, unable to believe what they were in the process of observing.

When it came in a little closer, we could make out a row or circle of white lights that ran around the entire rim of the craft - these were also flashing on and off. There were so many of these lights that it was dazzling to the mind. Spellbound, the couple watched the UFO move directly over the building next to where they resided. It was, I would estimate, about the size of a Lear jet and it was so close that if we had something to throw at it, we probably would have hit it quite easily.

During the time that it was almost directly overhead, May says that she didn’t hear any noise. We often had helicopters flying above us, but this was as silent as the night, seventeen stories up above street level. Finally the object

passed from view, leaving John and May feeling that the excite-ment was over for the evening. But as it turned out, the UFO returned and they managed to set up a tele-scope and view it that way. The light was so brilliant coming from the craft, May recalls, that no ad-ditional details could be seen. We did take a couple of pictures but they turned up overexposed. Immediately John and May tele-phoned the Daily News, and were told that at least 7 other reports had been received.

We even called the police - that’s how excited we were -and they told us to keep calm, that others had seen it too. According to May, all night long, John kept saying I couldn’t believe it! I can’t believe it...I’ve seen a flying saucer!

As confirmation of his sighting, John wrote down what he saw and used it as part of the cover art on his Walls and Bridges album. John had always had an interest in UFOs, May Pang points out. He even used to subscribe to a British UFO Magazine, the Flying Saucer Review. But after seeing what we saw that night, he became even more fanatical, bringing up the subject all the time.”

He swore that it was true, and in an interview taped sometime last year, May Pang detailed the expe-rience. She said she saw it, too.

A man descended unto us astride a flaming pie and spake these words unto us, saying “From this day on you are the Beatles with an A” Thus is did come to pass thus. Tongue-in-cheek remark cited by Times (London) November 5, 1999

The Shifting Nature of Counter-Intelligence Approaches to the UFO Field

by David Griffin

“‘Through counter-intelligence it should be possible to pinpoint potential trouble-makers and neutralize them…’ ‘and neutralize them…’ Wake Up!”

Lyrics from “Wake Up” by Rage Against The Machine — quoting a March 1968 FBI memo

On a personal level, there were many ‘elephant in the room’ components to the issue of UFOs and contact that made me reluctantly dip back into the literature circa 2005 and try and work out was going on once more. Aside from 23,000 year old cave paintings of aliens and their apparent craft – a more modern jaw-dropper was finding out that, in the post-war era, the UFO issue was rated ‘higher than the hydro-gen-bomb’ with regards to it’s secrecy and national security status.

Here, we once more find ourselves in Alice in Won-derland territory with regards to the issue of visiting intelligences. Why would official structures claim this subject was nothing more than illusory – officially declare the intelligence status of nuclear weapons as LESS important than the supposedly fictitious flying saucer stuff? The same contradiction becomes obvious when dealing with the individuals who con-tribute to the field in any way. The aim was to make authors irrelevant, professional pilots or military made to fear career suicide and those even closer to the phenomena as kooks or low-IQ morons.

In the last decade or so, the previous tactics that may have had a degree of success in keeping the issue out of mainstream culture began to become ineffective. For one, attempting to supress an evolu-tionary process is never going to be a battle you can win – even with all the resources you could desire at your fingertips. You start to get the idea that there may be something inherent in some of us to twist everything into a cosmic, mythical battle. So a policy that may have started with a degree of noble

intent in the confused aftermath of WW2 has now become un-workable. More importantly, the passing decades have resulted in some seeing the whole vast approach as having far from benign agendas by growing numbers on all sides. Couple this with the recent boom in information communications tech-nology and cheaper gadgets for unmediated contact with aspects of the ET issue and you can’t avoid an apex point looming on the horizon.

The signal for this moment may well have been the recently publicised charges against contactee Stan Romanek. In February of this year, Romanek was charged with possession of child porn – based on a warrant that had been around for almost a year previous. Whilst the local Colorado police’s [newly created] internet crimes unit visited the property to collect the evidence – bizarrely the original tip-off seems to have come from the US’s Department of Homeland Security. Whilst only the Romanek family truly know the legitimacy of these charges, it’s the latter element that gives us a pretty substantial clue as to whether a wider goal is at play. Although DHS appear to have been granted an ever wider annual role in American domestic security since 9/11 – the idea that their remit now involves passing on tips re-garding child images from the net seems to stretch credulity a little. There are other points that make this whole thing suspect – including the fact the event was expected .

This article isn’t aiming to make a judgement on Stan’s ‘guilt’ – rather we should view what has happened to him in a far larger historical context where a variety of

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

38

porn, scorn and eVolutionarY apex points bY daVid griFFin

tools are employed against those involved in the wider UFO com-munity. After all, if the issue was rated as a disinformation priority – there’s not so much of a concep-tual leap to be made to assume a range of options are on the table to deal with individuals. It is worth looking at why Romanek may have been subjected to this particular approach though – given that that particular tactic is very effective – often whether the party accused is guilty or not. Previously, it was only seen used as a last resort amongst politicians, financiers, for example, who were deemed to have profoundly gone against their peers’ collective goals or used as blackmail stock. Those who have looked into the tireless work of ex-senator John De Camp into paedophile networks, that sup-posedly reached into the White-house, will no doubt have come across the regularly discussed idea of secretly filming certain individ-uals whilst [innocently or other-wise] having a 5 year old bounce merrily on their lap.

This scenario, if as widespread as De Camp’s witnesses’ claim it was, could be one reason we see those in public positions flip-flop so easily over policy choices. They soon realise that whether the charges or images are fabricated matters not – ‘kiddie fiddling’ will terminate your career faster than the obnoxious boss of The Ap-prentice TV show.

Since the 1950s ‘space brother’ era – researchers and experienc-ers of extraterrestrial phenomena have faced a variety of coercive responses from the various state power groups. Whilst the ‘front end’ civil structures know little or nothing in regards to UFO activity, modern history has shown it to be profoundly important to what

has emerged as ‘above-govern-ment’ structures. These semi-offi-cial groups appear to span various levels of the military that have links to grey or black USAPs [Un-acknowledged Special Access Projects] yet often merge with the corporate world where less oversight is demanded. The term ‘neutralize’ is often assumed to mean ‘kill’ in intelligence parlance however it actually refers to applying the most effec-tive method to stop a perceived threat. This approach is evident over the years with everything from attempts to discredit, or say inducing paranoia, all the way to eradicating a person’s finances and identity or murder. We can find many very real world examples of this approach which would shift the hardest sceptic into admitting that the UFO issue probably isn’t the light-weight issue they’d been taught to believe it was.

Within the wider framework of counter-intelligence against the contact/UFO issue, the spectrum of responses serves as a dual purpose. First it aims to deal with the actual direct focus of the perceived ‘risk’ – i.e.: somehow stops the individual from con-tinuing along their chosen course. Secondly it acts as a firm [although not always obvious to outsid-ers] symbol or warning to those thinking they may act along similar lines. In fact, this ‘message’ com-ponent is, in today’s more complex reality, now as important as the direct neutralization aspect. We’ve seen this weird death approach in other areas – such as the Marconi science staff in the mid-1980s, and even this year with lots of sudden deaths in very specific areas of the financial sector.

If the attack on Romanek is a fab-rication in order to finish him as

an increasingly well-known ex-periencer, it suggests a quantum shift has taken place in how the whole issue of impending contact with ETs is being perceived – by all players involved.

Looking at above-government, counter-Intel approaches to the evolution of the UFO issue – we can see that their tactics are context based or rather a response to how the issue is integrating at that point in time. So, despite the adopted recommendations of, for one, the Robertson Panel – the issue of alien contact is now a wholesale part of our global culture. The positions that these intelligence groups could have adopted in the 1950s and 60s no longer work in a media connected world that has had several decades to peer through the deliberate dis-information, and conclude that it isn’t about whether ET visitation is ‘true’ or ‘false’, or whether their intentions are ‘good’ or ‘bad’ - it’s about the right to decipher our-selves and how to deal with this highly strange, yet engaging issue.

Deep down we all know it’s not going away. Some of us even rec-ognise the fact that it’s part of our evolution from cave-dweller to space-farer. A small step further on, people begin to see what a tragic waste of time and funds this embargo on ET truth has resulted in – we could have been building saucers and exploring the cosmos in the last 50 years.

As post-war counter intelligence knowledge matured [learned mostly from the British’s approach from their empire experience] – it seemed that tactics used in war situation could be more or less transferred to domestic situations. On the surface these included the political dissidents of the 1960s –

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

39

porn, scorn and eVolutionarY apex points bY daVid griFFin

but less obvious was the transfer of these skills to an ever more taxing issue of visiting beings. The fact these entities made a repeated issue of our irresponsible use of nuclear testing as a paranoid Cold War was firing up unfortunately seemed to by default tag them, as ‘Commies’. These reds in saucers were in touch with their counter-part earth dwelling humans and this situation constituted a threat. Obviously the understanding developed as various branches of the military industrial complex began taking in the huge ramifications of earth not being the centre of the cosmos.

As part of this – the basic intelli-gence approaches of neutraliza-tion were discrediting, blackmail, threats to loved ones and ulti-mately the final solution – death. Until recently – such a good job had been done from the late 60s onwards that neutralizing a con-tactee was simple. In fact the years of making the issue laugh-able meant very little had to be done because if an individual complained of harassment – no one dared to come to their aid for fear of soon also being tarred with the same brush. The community almost created its own cover for nefarious activity to be carried out.

Into the current era and that just doesn’t work as well. The fact that the term “UFO” is second most searched term on the internet tells you all. It’s no longer enough to assume a maligned group identity will support your disinformation activity – no-one buys the idea that ALL people into ET contact or UFOs are lunatics, we’re way past that now. Thus the individual has to be targeted without the group identity helping complete the process. This is far more complex

to investigate and carry out and has a less predictable outcome.

Terence McKenna talked about the DNA like spiral of history and that this spire, when matched to a mathematical time-wave, resulted in an ever faster tightening of events circa 2012. He claimed that we would see ever quickening battles between expressions of novelty and the repressive responses attempting to counter this. The state’s covert apparatus appears to be struggling to keep up with how and when to respond to the contact issue. This doesn’t mean however they are any less effective – in fact, in desperate, confusing times – a lot more damage can be done that in turn feeds back into the whole cycle.

With this in mind, Romanek becomes the representation of the post 2012 final struggle between this issue being handled fairly and acknowledged by our politi-cal, academic and scientific strata or engaging in an ever more des-perate PR war that all sides more or less acknowledge is not going to be ‘won’. When you look into Stan’s case [and as with so much in this sphere, you need a good 6-12 months’ work before assuming you know either way] you realise his experience was an accelerated one compared to most encounters that go public. Without going into detail – he has done, in under a decade, what many experiencers

take a lifetime to demonstrate or indeed it’s after their deaths we finally click as to their narra-tives’ importance. This evidence included filming craft that were monitoring him, having efficient alien health care [with medical staffs’ response recorded] and having mathematical equations passed onto him that points us towards solving light speed travel conundrums and much more.

The point is the awareness of people regarding the UFO issue has developed to the point where the old-school tactics don’t work. The last highly suspicious death of a bonefide whistle-blower on this issue, Phil Schneider, attract-ed little interest yet it was a pretty obvious murder. Circumstances have shifted to such a degree that attempting this option with many current researchers or experienc-ers would back-fire severely. So we see counter intelligence tactics previously reserved for high-rank-ing politicians now being used as an attempt to stop someone’s con-tribution to the area of contact.

When detractors of this area think there is no evidence – they rarely look into just what vast amounts there are and the type of evidence/experience that is currently discussed by those who take the time to look. Romanek’s case arrived so fast that it looks like they struggled to keep up. He was soon publishing books and filling UFO conferences. He had footage of a small grey ET peeping though his window. The media interest this created was partially used for a Denver vote on ET Dis-closure.

It’s often only at these events that you find out the more detailed sides to ET linked experiences. In addition to confirming the

porn, scorn and eVolutionarY apex points bY daVid griFFin

equation he was given, Romanek also broke another taboo as far as the Intel world may be con-cerned… In fact it’s a taboo amongst many UFO researchers; he discussed the fact that hybrid children were visiting his house and had captured one on film during an event.

For several reasons, Romanek may have been targeted with this “al-ternative” discrediting approach instead of other more drastic and overt neutralizing schemes:

• Due to growing awareness and interest in regards to his situation [scientists, military etc] – killing him would make a bigger splash and counter re-sponse than desirable.

• He had already had several attempts on his life and severe beatings. Some he claims were ‘intervened’ on by the ‘group upstairs’, preventing death in some cases.

• If true, the evidence his case presented implied that the usual negative PR attacks wouldn’t counter the situation.

It could also be suggested that this contact case could be seen as part of a new era of UFOlogy and contact. Even if the world didn’t shift into hyperspace overnight –

the whole 2012 notion has had, and continues to exert, influence over us as a species on the verge of interstellar flight. Combined with the way networked media propels even the weirdest ideas to waiting audiences, it could well be that Romanek’s experience hooked in to what McKenna called ‘the hyperdimensional object at the end of time’ and propelled itself forward faster than anything seen before. For these reasons and probably many more we are, I’m sure, unaware of [including the possibility he did what they claimed] – he was given the child porn approach. It works well, as we’ve discussed, but the problem from a counter intelligence point of view is that if someone can clear their name and prove it was a set-up then the next use of this and any similar tactics is treated with caution.

Imaging this as a fabricated set of charges for a moment – despite what we may assume at first glance, both sides of the equation are impacted by the process. To be effective – the ‘Romanek as a deviant’ label has to firmly stick to achieve the outcome of neu-tralizing the UFO/contact issue. Similarly if the tactic fails – it may point to the fact that our ‘cultural confidence’ in the ET issue is now so firmly part of our shared expe-rience that very few disinforma-tional tactics are wholly reliable. This in turn sends a message back to those making decisions in these above government sectors.

And a final quick word to the cowards within the UFO commu-nity who are gleefully using these recent events to claim ‘I always knew he was a charlatan’. This seems to be rotating around a YouTube video interview Romanek did where he can be seen to be

throwing a few desktop items around with a flick of his hand, just out of camera shot. What’s interesting is that few people were focusing on such a banal piece of “evidence” before the porn charges were officially made, but, within days, a whole section of UFO types decide that this must mean his whole case is fraudulent! By some warp in logic it seems to be that if Stan ends up guilty then “naturally” his case is pure hoax. However, you can bet most won’t similarly follow that logic in reverse to the point where, if he’s proved innocent, Stan’s case suddenly becomes ‘real’. If that’s the best that can be found – it’s no wonder the UFO community is often sadly lacking in integrity and decent research angles. Group-think like this in my mind actually mirrors the way our detractors want us to act – because ultimate-ly it reflects on our belief in the phenomenon itself.

Whatever happens with Mr Romanek – I really hope that we are now not in a new era where anything is on the menu to try and stop this issue from continuing to evolve. I just get the feeling that this situation is being observed as a test situation – to see how the tactic works and more importantly how the UFO community respond to it. At this point it’s not too encouraging. Where are all the leaders of the field risking their necks by publically agreeing that this stinks of a set-up?

If you know the true importance of this issue and know your Exopo-litical history – you should also be able to spot a test scenario when you see it, given Romanek’s back-ground. Our response will dictate future approaches by these above govt systems. Sitting tight because you may get tainted by the smell

of the case itself doesn’t help things in the longer term.

Steve Bassett describes the failure to acknowledge the ET issue like a malignant lump within global culture - the longer it is left, the more the shit will hit the fan in a variety of ways when it breaks out.

And it is breaking out. Right here, right now.

Book Review: ‘Encounter in Rendlesham Forest’

‘The Inside Story of the World’s Best-Documented UFO Incident’ by Nick Pope, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston

Reviewed by Paul PotterI’d be interested to hear what Larry Warren has to say about this book...

If you have read “Left at East Gate” you will know it does wander off the main event a bit, but primarily, its delineation of the initial three nights of Rendlesham Forest around Christmas 1980 is credibly detailed — and in my mind technically and scientifically understandable — especially with respect to the time dilation effects and object diminution effects experienced by many of its witnesses.

With such evidence you can conjecture that the UFO there was in a diminuted state when it sat in the forest clearing while it organised its own repair: For the ‘walking through treacle’ observations made by Warren, and his mention of time-delay in shadow movements noticed around the ship, correlates well with that ship being under the influence of electromagnetic conditioning, and, that such electromagnetic conditioning extended through the surrounding air via the energy field of that ship.

Thus the mystery begins to unravel and make sense. But now, in this book of Pope, Penniston, and Burroughs, its authors suggest we’d be better off dismissing Warren’s Left at East Gate version of Rendlesham as nothing but a fantasy story!

Ok then, is this book’s account a better, more accurate telling of the Rendlesham event ? Well, sadly, no, its not. It appears more to be a stale and sterile non-technical and non-scientific version of Rendlesham that the British MOD would most likely wax lyrical about over a morning coffee break.

Yes, it gives a skeletal taster of the first night, and it even includes Col. Halt’s story of the third night - as extrapolated from his audio tapes. But you still get the impression there are many high-value layers to this event - and that this book rolls out only the basement bargain layer. I fear the term U-F-O, throughout this

book, stands for Unpalatable Facts Omitted.

One of the recurring themes throughout this book runs along the line of Penniston seeming to believe he has been the only person to ever undergo such a close-encounter, opining the seriousness for himself of this life-changing experience, which, I have to say, might prove to be a mute point for anyone who has experienced more harrowing situations than those presented here. I can say with certainty that any reader that has themself experienced UFOs or aliens one-to-one, will shake their head and say, “you had it easy, mate!”

What is interesting in this book is that Penniston states that over eighty Air Force personnel witnessed the first-night ship’s takeoff. So where are all those other memories of these events?

This book then mentions that on the third night, many multiple-UFO sightings were monitored by at least fifty-to-sixty personnel plus those on duty to secure the area, (which compares well to the 200 or so reported in Left at East Gate by Larry Warren): However, we learn nothing from all those other witnesses either!

All this book does is give historical commentaries, from Penniston and Burroughs, or from previously published comments (such as from Col. Halt). But, as can be educed from the details presented in this book, Penniston and Burroughs were not, and are still not, in full possession of the WHOLE story of Rendlesham.

And that’s what I have such a big problem with about this book penned by Nick Pope — it has a ‘this story is ours alone to give’ attitude of containment - but it is so patently obvious there are blank sections in that story: For instance; in the first night UFO(s) account, we have Penniston’s recollection of touching the landed ship — with Burroughs being zonked unconscious by a beam sent down by another ship

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

43

book reView: ‘encounter in rendlesham Forest: the inside storY oF the world’s best-documented uFo incident’

that must have been hovering directly above him.

Then, for the second night’s UFO(s) there is a very brief mention that there was indeed a second UFO, or set of UFOs, on the 26 December, and that these UFOs were reported to have been propagating different electromagnetic effects, both in the forest, and directly around the vehicle of the security personnel on duty that night — but these reports are not by either Penniston or Burroughs. Relative to the THIRD night, the UFO(s) are described in this book only fleetingly, and yet again we are told that Burroughs has been zonked unconscious the moment he arrives at the scene, so, again, he later remembers nothing of what happened. And... so where... is Penniston on the third night ?

Strangely enough, there is a complete absence of any commentary for both the 3rd night, and for the 2nd night, from Penniston: This book mentions Penniston was at the base for the night of 26 December, but no mention is made of his direct involvement, or any of his reports (if he offered any) for the 26th or for the third night (the 27th). Surely, this is highly inconvenient considering he was Staff Sergeant for the base.

This void is, however, filled by much pedantic chatter by Nick Pope, so much so that its easy for the reader to drift away from its emptiness, and to then forget all about it.

But the void is there, and in that void lies the very problem that fails the telling of this book’s story... One wonders, though, if this may be no bad thing... in this void there may be found a possible solution

to the now-broiling Penniston-Burroughs versus Larry Warren altercation, regarding who has the most credible rendition for those three nights of events... Because, if their minds were shut down by the temporal UFO beams that encircled them during those events, now we can assume that neither Burroughs nor Penniston are capable of remembering anything that happened during those events.

This leaves the door open to other interpretations. Now, I know from abduction case histories that while one person might undergo experiences involving alien activity, another who might be standing just two feet away will be standing there motionless and totally oblivious to what the other abductee will be getting involved in; (for example, in the Andreasson Affair account of Betty Luca’s family in suspended animation, while Betty communicates with a group of Greys in the same room).

Perhaps on the third night’s event(s) at Rendlesham, Penniston, like Burroughs, got zonked out — meaning that whatever happened on that third night, even whether Larry Warren’s account took place or not, then neither Burroughs nor Penniston were conscious enough to confirm or deny what happened around them. They both may not be able to prove they weren’t incapacitated by the UFO activity at the times in question. So then, by Nick Pope’s Ockham’s razor maxim, Larry Warren’s account as published in Left at East Gate, could still hold its credibility !

And there lies the next challenge for Jim Penniston and John Burroughs — to up their versions of what took place — on ALL THREE NIGHTS — so as to paint

a more comprehensive picture of what happened.

And thankfully, in the dying throws of this book, Burroughs and Penniston might possibly redeem themselves by their timely submission, in chapter 19, saying this book does NOT mark the final and definitive end to this Rendlesham story ! There is yet more to come, apparently. I’d say much more is needed too, particularly more of the scientific and technical aspects of these electromagnetic ships.

They might model their technical contribution on the Condign Report if they wish (which sadly seems to profess quite a negative and sceptical assessment regarding off-world engineering, and only a basic grasp of text-book radar/electromagnetic theory - which is saved somewhat by data supplied by the Russian and Chinese in-depth research programs; but, again, the technical nous running through this document is very dated - and quite honestly, rather pathetic, when one considers the advanced sciences so evident in UFO propulsion dynamics): But first they should consider who they are going to supply such technical information to; to military eyes (and they will never see the result of their contributions again), or to the academia of advanced aerospace (where they will, at least, know their contributions are eagerly awaited, and will be directed toward deep space travel programs for the future).

Finally, what I found more distasteful than anything else in this book was its ‘we know it all’ flavouring, together with its offensive and its lazily generalised dollops of ‘UFO researchers and all believers in aliens are numpties’

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

book reView: ‘encounter in rendlesham Forest: the inside storY oF the world’s best-documented uFo incident’

derogatory.

I have to say, I’ve noticed this before in my own correspondence with Burroughs and Penniston; I have been surprised at how self-protecting and defensive both these men were whenever I asked them simple questions or put forward my observations to them.

Burroughs blew a gasket when I brought up the subject of ‘aliens,’ he vehemently denying all association with such. With Penniston I got know-it-all sarcasm after I’d shown him tentative renditions of the ship he stood next to and touched.

More ironically, the authors of this book don’t know the difference between electromagnetic radiation and atomic radiation (which is one of Pope’s pet subjects herein). And further, Penniston, in this book, seems only comfortable when he believes the inhabitants of the Rendlesham ship were not aliens at all, but humans from the future.

Apparently, extraterrestrial is a taboo word in the Burroughs-Penniston camp — much like it would be in MOD quarters, I suppose. Which is strange, given that some alien groups are known to dwell on earth, either underground or under our seas; AND that extra-terrestrial literally means off-world — and so wouldn’t that be the most appropriate way to describe human travellers from the future?

But that’s what you get throughout this book, a naivety and sublime ignorance about well-established alien and UFO related phenomena, and a dissentience toward UFO reports and toward experts in their fields that aren’t directly associated to this particular 1980 event. Yes, many ufologists who call themselves ‘experts’ ARE numpties — but not all researchers are!

Addendum: Just a quick addendum regarding Penniston’s binary code information. Alien coded messages work on several levels, much in the same vein as how ancient

Egyptians encoded hieroglyphs to offer different levels of exoteric and esoteric meanings. The Hy Brasil entry, as I tried to explain once before to Penniston (but he blanked me on it), opens a whole passageway of doors into a new subject — if you know your Irish ancient history and the way the Irish encoded their secret wisdom into their writings throughout the middle ages.

Encoding to keep important information away from half-wits has been going on for tens of thousands of years on this planet, and this encoding is known to the ‘aliens’ who communicate with us. Also, I’d like to indicate that the game-changing fact that Penniston has previous, on these binary messages, from his childhood, was completely glossed over by Pope - whom I’d like to now officially classify as an ‘enthusiastic amateur’ when it comes to the subject of human psychology!

Open Letters: An exopolitical walk down memory lane

by Stephen Bassett Los Angeles, CA, May 25, 2014

The U.S. government’s policy of truth embargo regarding the ex-traterrestrial presence was for-mulated between 1947 and 1952 when it was aggressively set in motion with the cooperation of its WWII allies including the United Kingdom. For the next four decades ending the truth embargo was out of the question so long as the Cold War was underway.

The door to Disclosure begins to open in 1992 and could well have taken place during the first term of President Bill Clinton. However, the military/intelligence complex in cooperation with right wing sympathizers, in particular Richard Mellon Scaife, unleashed the hounds of hell on the Clinton ad-ministration successfully reducing the President’s political capital and limiting his options. For the remainder of the decade, while

Disclosure prospects waned, the Disclosure advocacy movement advanced.

Paradigm Research Group was formed in July of 1996 and by mid-2000 was positioned to have an impact on the truth advocacy process. Early that year the COMETA Report out of France was beginning to get international exposure. There were signs later proven correct that other nations were beginning to lose patience with the U.S. led truth embargo. The door was opening wider.

It was also in 2000 that PRG began publishing a series of open letters to American politicians. Not sur-prisingly PRG was not getting any invites to, or correspondence from, the White House. Political aspirants to the office of the pres-ident were equally uncommunica-

tive. So PRG widely published open letters to raise the matter of Dis-closure and the truth embargo to those seeking to run the country.

These open letters are posted here in reverse chronological order. The last letter to President Barack Obama will be published sometime in June of this year.

These letters were a small part of the effort to educate and alert political leaders to the Disclo-sure issue. These leaders are quite aware of the truth advocacy movement. They simply don’t have the courage to speak to it.

[Note: PRG has never received a response from any political leader or relevant staff person to any of this correspondence. No matter. Soon they will have to respond to the American people.]

Open Letter to the President UnelectNovember 20, 2000

___________________

Washington, DC – Mr. President Unelect, the election ended in a tie – you lost. Al, after one hundred million votes, the dif-ference was well within the margin of error of an election

process which had long gone to seed. In case you hadn’t noticed, the nation has been going through an apathetic period of wealth and indulgence. Billon dollar bombers, $60,000 second cars, 19 year old dot.com millionaires – no problem.

Fix an antiquated, 19th Century voting system – why bother?

Ah, sweet karma, after years of neglect the system jumped up and bit the nation in the ass. An election so bizarre, so close, so convoluted, no Hollywood hack would attempt to write it, because no Holly-wood suit would believe it.

Round styluses trying to push out rectangular sections from IBM punch cards; police going through long voter lines and checking ID’s of suspect voters

(read people of color with bad wardrobes) and pulling convicted felons when they find them (better that 10,000 not vote than one felon slip one in); in the wealthy districts (like Bethesda, MD) short lines, lots of booths and crois-sants, while in the densely popu-lated, poorer districts, long lines with voters turned away at dead-lines (illegally); and an outcome likely to be determined by fewer votes than the lawyers hired to figure it out.

What genius neglected to notice that in heavy turnouts the punched chads build up under the ballots and make it more and more diffi-cult to punch a new chad out, and thousands of ballots are tossed? And, gee, after decades of accept-ing absentee ballots, someone just noticed that military mail doesn’t always get postmarked?

It’s worth noting here that a vote reform movement exists. It is also worth noting this movement operates with slogans like, “return to the 19th Century,” “it’s good enough for India,” “do it like the Third World.” You see, in the U.S. public trust in government, all government, is so low any techno-logical upgrade is suspect. Visions are offered of hackers fixing elec-tions wholesale with electrons taking the place of dead Chica-goans. In other words, for this reform movement, the systems being used in Florida are too advanced! Worse, they worry the election fiasco will be used to sell computer, Internet voting to the public and all will be lost.

But, Al, none of this is your fault. The margin of error in American elections is a disgrace, but this one was so close, it didn’t matter.

In baseball ties go to the runner.

Taking a rounded piece of wood, hitting a baseball thrown from 60 feet at 90 miles per hour, getting rid of the wood and out of the box and running 90 feet to the bag is so damn difficult, it was consid-ered only fair that making it to first base at the same time as the ball – you’re safe.

George Bush was the batter. Out of the seething hatred of the con-servatives toward Clinton for his failure to serve in Vietnam, sexual indiscretions and alleged financial impropriety came perhaps the worst possible candidate in the country to service that hatred. Governor Bush is a nice fellow who avoided Vietnam by virtue of elitist preference into the Air National Guard. He is a recovering substance abuser and good ole playboy, and businessman who has been baled out by his family connections more times than the savings and loan industry (which was almost the ruin of his brother Neil). His state record is even worse than Clinton’s – not an easy assignment. His intellect, verbal skills, education, and reading background are not competitive with Dan Quayle.

You were the sitting Vice Presi-dent for eight years of unprece-dented national prosperity. You had 99.9% name recognition, a heavy resume, plenty of funding, a parental political legacy and an exemplary family life. You were on the cutting edge of major issues including the environment and nuclear disarmament. You should have made Texas Bar-B-Q of George and sent him back to Austin on a plate with pickle and side of coleslaw. You didn’t.

There are so, so many parties to blame for this. President Clinton comes to mind. He was not the

most dysfunctional person to achieve the presidency, just the most since CNN. Presidents are celebrities now and are picked apart accordingly. There is a tabloid parallel universe ready to suck into it anyone who dares to open a wormhole with the wrong mistake. Clinton could have blown up South America and gotten better press.

And don’t forget Ralph Nader. He sought the Holy Grail of 5% matching funds. He elected George Bush and sent countless liberals to marriage counseling.

But you would still have won were it not for a third person. And here the irony is so thick you can stand on it. You were inches from the White House, when thanks to a butterfly ballot, Pat Buchanan got the last precious votes you needed to pass through security. Pat had waited his whole life to commit just one putsch and pulled it off when he stormed to control of the Reform Party, only to have that legacy subsumed by the politics in, of all places, Palm Beach County.

But why pick nits, or for that matter, pick chads? Ultimately one person must take the blame for this fiasco – Albert Gore. You wanted to be the first presi-dent of the 21st Century, but ran a 20th Century campaign. You went before the richest nation in history and tried to buy votes with the usual offers of tax cuts, drug rebates, medical benefits, etc. – vote me and get more stuff. No matter your opponent did the same. He made no pretension of being a 21st Century man, you did.

You stuck to a script of which the public has long hinted it wanted to change. Voters are sick of the spin doctors - the Dick Morrises,

Mary Matalins, James Carvilles, and Ed Rollinses. They want them all to become talk show hosts. The public wants candidates who mean what they say, say what they mean and don’t run from the tough, controversial issues. They keep reaching out to such can-didates only to have the party establishments drive them from the field.

You could have taken on those issues, could have chosen to debate the third party candidates (with or without George), but you took a pass.

Ted Kopel’s Nightline holds a week-long series on the inevitability of an anthrax attack on an American city; trust in government is at all time lows; Sixty Minutes does two programs on a major scandal with the NSA’s Echelon spy satellites; millions of Americans indicate in national polls they believe in an extrater-restrial presence and a massive government cover-up; America refuses to sign the landmine treaty; men are lining up at suicide recruitment booths in Asia, Africa and the Middle East so they can kill American citizens; a black budgeted, massive second govern-ment is out of control with new abuses coming to light every year – none of this you dared to discuss for fear you lose some votes.

Your campaign speeches were filled with “I” and “me” and “mine.” The election became a race for a job and not about ideas and policy. So what if the media likes it that way because it makes it easier to cover? You weren’t running for editor.

The trite displays, the balloons and confetti, the usual photo ops, the inevitable insulting of the national in-telligence – old paradigm, old shtick. You could have risen above it – you didn’t.

There is a powerful, collective wisdom to the ex-pressed will of the American people. They loved Bill Clinton for his policies, but were offended by his person. For that reason they feel the Democrats must sit in the corner for at least four years to atone for the sin of indiscretion. Had they not wanted it so, you would have won in a landslide.

Don’t make the mistake of trying to thwart that wisdom by draconian assertion of your legal desire to sit as President of the United States. Let it go. Concede the election and join the growing number of ex-pres-

idents and ex-vice presidents. See if you can convince these fine men to step forward and speak out on those issues above and break the deadlocks that help create the gridlocks. Clinton and Carter will still be around. Both of them had their head handed to them when

they dared to consider UFO/ET policy.

The next four years are going to be rough, not a time for former executives to keep to their polite silence, dare they offend the party and its fevered aspirants. The country is going to need every ex in the game. Be the leader of the emeriti. Do it for the people and not the votes.

____________

Preface to an Open Letter to George BushJanuary 1, 2001

On the basis of its timing alone, the recent presiden-tial election may turn out to be the most important in the history of the nation, or for that matter, the planet. America has been consistently blessed with aspirants to leadership who genuinely wish a better world for all. It would not be a stretch to say, that had every American election been won by the chief, losing opponent, the nation would most likely be in the same position it is today.

Beginning two years ago, heaven and earth was moved to achieve the election of a most unlikely can-didate to the presidency. Major power brokers lined up early and raised hundreds of millions of dollars. Other candidates, some with extraordinary life his-tories and accomplishments, were brushed aside. Every chit was called in, every string was pulled. The religious right, still bitter, ambitious and contemp-tuous of a centrist platform, held its tongue. The most famous military leaders of recent times stood shoulder to shoulder on stage.

And when the final outcome was forced to pass through an unprecedented denouement, every strat-agem was applied, regardless of the deferred cost. It is not nice to fool with Mother Nature, and it is political suicide, if your are a Republican, to galvanize the Democratic base. That has been effected in spec-tacular fashion. The mid-term election in 2002 will likely be a Republican bloodbath with the Democratic Party taking clear control of the House and Senate. [Note: due in no small measure to the extraordinary events of September 11, 2001 and the aftermath, this did not happen until 2004.]

To all of this, the ultimate question remains unan-swered - Why? The American people, and by exten-sion the world’s people, will soon find out.

Sometimes a new president makes history and some-times history happens to him (there have been no hers) in dramatic fashion. It is in the latter instance when the holder of the office is tested beyond prece-dent. This could be such a time.

If so, thanks to the modern, multi-tiered media struc-ture, and in particular, the ascendance of the internet toward global ubiquity, every action of every aspect of the new administration will be followed more closely by more people than ever before. There will be no lack of input from those on the outside looking in, and no better time to start then now.

Open Letter to George Bush

January 1, 2001

“Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.”

Ezekial, 1-4“And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.”

George W. Bush (inaugural address)

Washington, DC – Mr. President, you were elected by one of the narrowest popular vote margins in the history of the nation. After hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign expenditures, the Senate is now in the remarkable status of a 50/50 party split and the Republican majority in the House has been reduced. So by merest virtue of the vice presidential tiebreak-er the country has chosen unified government for only the fourth time since 1969.

Of equal importance, you campaigned from the getgo as a “uniter” not a “divider.” You said you would end the bickering and gridlock. This is a laudatory goal for which the American public has expressed a clear desire. Your timing is excellent as there is an unprec-edented need for bipartisanship in Washington.

That need? The executive and legislative branches of the United States government must delay no longer the direct engagement of the 50-year suppression of the truth surrounding the presence of extraterrestri-als in our world, now.

The long term implications to the nation of social security integrity, prescription drug benefits and gun policy may be of importance – the resolution of the UFO/ET cover-up and the reform of the military in-dustrial complex is of a monumental importance only a fully bipartisan effort can address.

It is notable that during your campaign a gentleman by the name of Charles Huffer asked if you would as president get out the truth concerning UFOs. You answered that you would do so. It is worth mention-ing there are tens of millions of American citizens

eager to see you keep that promise.

As you consider your course of action toward this issue, permit the expression of some particular concerns.

There is ample evidence the last two Democratic presidents, Carter and Clinton, were personally in-terested in the UFO/ET question. The Clinton interest was partially fueled by a substantial and directed ini-tiative funded by renown philanthropist and conser-vationist – Laurance S. Rockefeller.

Both presidents made investigatorial overtures, but were rebuffed with extreme prejudice by their agency heads. Further, there is a developing sense the military leadership in the nation has a “favorite” party – the Republican Party. During the campaign you stood on the dais with retired generals Colin Powell and Norman Schwarzkopf. From the begin-ning of the Clinton administration the contempt of the military for the sitting president was severe enough to require disciplinary action. Within the UFO/ET research community there is growing con-sensus some presidents are permitted full briefings on the UFO/ET question and others are not, and this policy has for some time been split along party lines.

In the eleven years since the symbolic end to the Cold War (dismantlement of the Berlin Wall), the United States has executed several successful displays of overwhelming military power, dramatically expanded its economic influenced and extended its strategic alliances. Inexplicably, this has not resulted in optimism for future peace and stability. Rather, the incoming administration, the armed services and the intelligence agencies have fostered a fore-boding sense of an incipient, paranoia driven mili-tarism. During your campaign there were repeated references to dissatisfaction with the nation’s role in “peacekeeping” vis-à-vis a renewed emphasis on “warmaking.” You selected a former Secretary of Defense as Vice President for the first time in history.

You selected a former Secretary of Defense as the new Secretary of Defense for the first time in history. You selected a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as Secretary of State for the first time in history. Major new spending, massive new war technolo-gies and aggressive new postures appear to be in the offing. And embedded in this process is the mil-itarization of space, which has been advancing with scant comment by the Congress and meager aware-ness amongst the public.

In the five decades following the end of WWII, the nation turned itself upside down. A reasonable in-terpretation of the Constitution, Declaration of Inde-pendence and other founding documents show the United States was to be a country in which the gov-ernment would operate in the open on behalf of a private citizenry.

The opposite is now the status quo. The government is immersed in a cult of secrecy - drowning in classi-fied documents, programs and personnel. It operates underground facilities; controls vast, classified military/intelligence reservations; stonewalls every investigative or accusatory assault on its actions by journalists, veterans, congressional members; hides its illegal activities behind the National Security Act whenever it wishes; conducts illegal experiments on civilian and military persons; subverts Constitu-tionally protected research and investigations by private citizens; conducts illegal surveillance of ever increasing sophistication, both home and abroad, in support of an ever increasing list of “crimes” headed by a failed “war on drugs” criminalizing millions; and builds a national identifier out of the Social Security registration number and uses that ID to create credit, medical, employment, and personal activity profiles of every citizen within an electronic framework riddled with holes and abuse.

In contrast, the “private” citizen’s life has been splayed open like an autopsied corpse, the “public” citizen’s life placed under a microscope to be mined by pundits and stand-up comedians for new material

in the service of ridicule.

These are ominous trends which the UFO/ET research/activist community knows to be connected.

Returning to the core issue: while there is obvious-ly a firmament of questions that could be raised re-garding the extraterrestrial presence, there are three primary political decisions to make:

1) whether to hold a disclosure event or continue the cover-up,

2) how comprehensive and truthful the initial in-formation disclosed will be, and

3) whether to create a military, hostile posture toward the extraterrestrials acknowledged in this disclosure event.

For the past ten years a growing political movement has targeted the politics of UFOs/disclosure. All levels of the media have received extensive materials on the subject. Former members of the U. S. military, former astronauts and many other government em-ployees have been speaking privately and publicly in unambiguous terms regarding the extraterrestrial presence and a government cover-up.

Significant political events targeting the UFO/ET cover-up are being scheduled for the first year of your administration. A growing portfolio of documenta-ries will highlight the facts. Investigative journalists are now targeting the political realities and articles are working their way toward the top media outlets. Other nations such as France and Mexico are moving to assert there hegemony in this matter.

Pressure on the U.S. government to end the cover-up is only going to increase during your administra-tion. Yet, there will be advisers who will encourage you to disregard this growing movement and play the cover-up game out until such time as certain non-elected military/intelligence personnel give you the green light to proceed – if ever. You will be tempted to take this advice. Don’t.

Each day the UFO/ET cover-up continues and each new revelation of abuse of power by this or that government agency further erodes the fundamental trust the American people hold in their government – and benchmarks for trust in government are at all time lows.

If you truly wish to unite the country and begin a new era of cooperation, you must engage an issue of tran-scendent importance. That issue is at hand.

Respectfully,

Open Letter to the Candidates

July 25, 2004

Washington, DC – The next President of the United States will take office during the 57th year of the public’s awareness of a government imposed truth embargo on the fact of an extraterrestrial presence engaging the planet earth and the human race. This awareness began with the withdrawal of the “re-trieved saucer” explanation by General Roger Ramey and the substitution of a “weather balloon” to account for the events in early July 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. Later that year the superstructure for this embargo was created with the passage of the National Security Act and the assembling of a man-agement team titled Majestic-12 Group.

This truth embargo has left a massive hole in the worl-dview of every living human being. It has created two parallel realities – one with an accepted extraterres-trial hypothesis and one without. It has broken the social contract, compromised the mission of NASA, eroded trust in government, withheld life and envi-ronmental enhancing technology and warped the re-lationship between two branches of government (ex-ecutive and legislative) and the military/intelligence community.

The extraordinary requirement to service this embargo while simultaneously prosecuting the Cold War, a 45-year ideological conflict unlike anything the world had ever seen, resulted in the creation of a “Secret Empire” – the intelligence components of the military/industrial complex. It is an empire because it is vast in size and power and no part of it is elected. It is composed of fiefdoms run by career managers

open letters: an exopolitical walk down memorY lane bY stephen bassett

who are replaced internally when they retire or die. While agency directors are publicly appointed by presidents, the directors of corporate intelligence operations are not public and operate in a hybrid world of government classification and corporate proprietary self-interest.

The public interest oversight of this complex - larger (on the basis of its “known” budget) than the total military spending of every nation on earth except the United States ($420 billion in 2002) - lies with the House and Senate Select Committees on Intel-ligence. But as the Secret Empire has grown, both the effectiveness and public trust in members of Congress and Congress as a functioning institution have diminished. Committee members are quick to say they “have things under control,” but each year fewer Americans believe them or for that matter care or pay attention.

Organized citizen efforts toward “secrecy reform,” while well meaning, have been minimal with little or no funding. Attempts by the Executive Branch to reform, restructure or limit the Secret Empire have been, inadequate, misdirected or disdainfully rebuffed. Ironically, the sheer size of this complex has contributed to numerous failures to “take care of business.” While the Secret Empire has success-fully tended its own agendas, kept its own secrets, managed public opinion and conducted domestic campaigns of surveillance, subversion, misinforma-tion and propaganda, it has often failed in matters of its primary function to protect and defend the United States. When you have millions of people with multi-levels of clearance to assign and track, hundreds of millions of documents to classify, thou-sands of overt and covert projects to manage, vast underground facilities to build and maintain, equally vast above ground facilities to secure, it would seem that foreign enemies of the state “slip through the cracks.” These instances have been well documented and don’t need to be addressed here. The response to each intelligence blunder is the same – demands for more money, more secrecy and more power – size begetting failures begetting greater size.

There are four men still campaigning for the presi-dency who are high profile, “mainstream” candi-dates. Two have a chance to win, and two are trying to either make a statement or influence the election. None are likely to say anything, nothing, about the Secret Empire or take any position on real secrecy reform beyond, “mistakes were made pre- and post-

9/11. This issue, like many others, is off limits, and the willingness of the American people to accept limited debate and exposition is now a threat to the nation.

But there is hope, because millions of Americans have become aware and informed of the actions and implications of the Secret Empire through their interest in extraterrestrial-related phenomena. They are increasingly networked and now form a substan-tial voting block. They are educated, well read, cyber savvy and many have military backgrounds. They are starting to put pressure on candidates to take a position on the most controversial and implicative issue in the world today.

On their behalf the following open memos to three of these four candidates are posted - Bush and Kerry because either could win and Kucinich because his worldview already embraces the possibility of an extraterrestrial presence. Nader is left out because he can’t win, has no interest in extraterrestrial-relat-ed phenomena and has rebuffed every approach to inform him on the subject.

Dear President Bush: The day you stepped into the White House as the 43rd President of the United States you stood on the threshold of perhaps the greatest legacy offered any head of state in history. Ten years after the end of the Cold War you could be the leader who ended the truth embargo and informed the nation and the world of the extraterrestrial presence engaging this planet. You could be the “disclosure president.”

Millions of people around the world then watched closely to see if you would deliver on your promise to Charles Huffer during an exchange at a 2000 campaign stop in Arkansas. CNN recorded the moment:

Huffer: Half the public believes that they are real. Would you finally tell us what the hell is going on?

Bush: Sure, I will.

Huffer: (Gesturing toward Cheney) This man knows. He was Secretary of Defense.

Bush: And was a great one.

Later Huffer encountered you off-camera in the hall. You recognized Huffer and unsolicited said:

Bush: It will be the first thing he (pointing to

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

52

open letters: an exopolitical walk down memorY lane bY stephen bassett

Cheney) will do. He’ll get right on it.

Huffer: Will, will you really?

Bush: Yes Sir.

Truly, it has been a difficult three and a half years – a tough time for the nation and your administration. History has called upon you in other ways with other challenges.

But the disclosure legacy was and still is yours to claim in part because your father was held in the highest regard by the military and intelligence com-munities – the exact opposite circumstance from the intervening Clinton administration. The election this November is now problematic. If you do not take up the disclosure mantle, it may be lost to you and your party forever. The truth embargo cannot last four more years. More ranking military and agency employee will come forward. The media complicity will end. History calls, Mr. President. Answer the call.

Dear Senator Kerry:The television talking heads that analyze your campaign repeatedly refer to the need for you to “define” yourself to the electorate and “separate” yourself from George W. Bush during an era when a significant segment of the public sees little difference between the two princi-pal political parties while referring to “republicrats.”

Should you choose to take this good advice, you might begin by repudiating your membership in the absurd and dangerous secret society, Skull and Bones, rather than laugh off or refuse to answer questions from the press regarding this cabalistic or-ganization, which exists for no other reason than to network power among selected elite. The American people no longer find this funny or irrelevant.

More importantly, while it is inconceivable, given the restricted and scripted nature of the modern election campaign, you would speak to or seriously answer questions about extraterrestrial-related phenomena, there is something you should know.

The truth embargo (or cover-up) preventing a formal acknowledgement of the extraterrestrial presence (disclosure) is unraveling due to the emergence of military and agency witnesses since the end of the Cold War. Should you take office on January 21, 2005,

this truth embargo becomes your concern, and the legacy of the “disclosure presidency” yours to claim – or reject. Do not accept a “need to know” explana-tion from the DoD, NSA or CIA for their refusal to give you the information you need to make a disclosure decision. Each day of your term that passes without you stepping forward and ending this 5-decade charade, that legacy will slowly fade away and you and your political party will begin to “own” the cover-up. A new year, a new president, a new world.

Dear Congressman Kucinich: Six high profile Democratic Party candidates in the 2004 presiden-tial campaign have fallen away, but you continue because you believe you have something to say to the American people and to your party con-vention. Your supporters and staff have worked very hard to give you this opportunity – to have an impact.

You are clearly a man apart. There is no one else in the United States Congress like you – no one who thinks further outside the box. Consequently, you have brought many innovative ideas and positions on issues into the campaign. Of particular note are your views regarding war, peace, non-proliferation and weapons in space. These are issues of great im-portance, which, if not resolved soon, may yet lead to worldwide calamity.

And this raises a troubling question. How is it remotely possible for the governments of the world to reach decisions about war, peace, non-prolifera-tion, the weaponization of space and a host of other related matters, when the truth of an extraterrestrial presence is being kept completely out of the public discourse?

Congressman Kucinich, you can make history. Step forward and speak to this matter. Lift the curtain of ridicule. Finish what candidate Jimmy Carter could not finish in 1976. Be the first presidential candi-date with a spot at the party convention to place the most important issue in the world before the nation. Millions of people around the planet will stand and applaud true political courage.

Open Letter to Albert Gore, Jr.

January 29, 2007

Dear Mr. Gore:On February 25, 2007 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood you will stand before a world-wide audience to accept a well deserved Academy Award for

“Best Documentary.” This moment will be a hallmark in a most remarkable political story. A man comes within a few votes of being President of the United States, puts aside the enormous personal disappoint-ment, shuns a comfortable retirement, subsumes his ego and takes on the grueling work of raising public awareness toward a critical issue “one PowerPoint presentation at a time.”

An Inconvenient Truth about the dangers of global warming has broken through a ridicule curtain of mis-information and propaganda preventing the nations and peoples of the world from properly engaging a challenging reality. It has remade you a leader to which millions have turned for guidance and solu-tions which you provided in your documentary. And therein lies the problem. The solutions you propose are not commensurate with either the timeframe or the severity of the consequences you predict. Those frightened by these consequences are frustrated as they consider the degree of cooperation demanded by nations and institutions to address this emergency before it is too late. They consider the present state of world affairs and lose hope for a positive outcome.

Many of the solutions you present are based upon existing and projected technological innovation. What if there were technology capable of dramatical-ly advancing and accelerating the solution process, and this technology was being withheld as a govern-ment policy? Would it not be unethical to allow that to continue?

Such technology does exist. It was derived from the energy and propulsion systems of crashed vehicles

of extraterrestrial origin. It is sequestered in gov-ernment research facilities where it remains today hostage to a six decade “truth embargo” imposed by the U. S. government on the facts surrounding an ex-traterrestrial presence engaging the planet Earth and the human race. It is reserved for weaponry, not for global warming response.

I believe you already know this via contacts made during years of study of national security, arms control and nuclear proliferation issues while in the Senate and from your service as an active and powerful vice president. If you are not aware of the validity behind this “other inconvenient truth,” ask your good friends Bill and Hillary Clinton or President Clinton’s senior policy advisor, John Podesta. They watched from the Oval Office while billionaire Laurance Rockefeller worked through the Office of Science and Technolo-gy Policy for three years to persuade the Clinton ad-ministration to end the truth embargo – the Rocke-feller Initiative. John Podesta would later call for the release of all government documents relevant to the extraterrestrial issue during two press conferences at the National Press Club in October of 2002 and 2003. Or you could ask Jimmy Carter who approved two studies of extraterrestrial phenomena during the first months of his presidency before both were shut down by the Department of Defense and members of his own administration.

This is not a political issue so much as it is a moral issue. When you stand at the podium in the Kodak Theater, let the people know there was something missing from your film. Tell your audience there are powerful solutions, extraterrestrial in origin, to which they have a right to know about and to access. The auditorium will explode with a response that will astound you – a response that will expand to billions of people who must know the truth about the world in which they live in order to fix it. It will not be con-venient or without risk, but it is the right thing to do.

Open letter to Albert Gore, Jr. Redux

October 15, 2007

Dear Mr. Gore:On January 29 of this year PRG published an open letter to you in anticipation of your winning the “Best Documentary” Oscar for An Inconvenient Truth at the 79th Annual Academy Awards. That letter made two essential points: 1) your political career and areas of specialty as a senator and vice president were such you are aware of and/or have been briefed on some or all of the facts surrounding an extraterres-trial presence engaging the human race for at least the past sixty years, and 2) propulsion and energy technologies associated with extraterrestrial vehicles obtained by the United States military and under de-velopment for decades must be brought out from behind the government imposed truth embargo and placed in the service of addressing the dire warnings you have raised concerning the near- and long-term effects of global warming.

Nine months have passed. You did not respond to this open letter, and none of the presidential can-didates who wish to lead the most powerful nation in the world have dared in forum after forum to the address the extraterrestrial/truth embargo issues. Nevertheless, you have had quite a year culminating with your being awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. In between you picked up an Emmy.

In your post-Nobel Prize announcement remarks you repeatedly referred to the “consciousness raising” aspect of the global warming challenge. Your point is valid, but it is worth noting the motivation behind this potential increase in global consciousness would be fear-based in much the same way the threat of international terrorism alters human behavior. The environmental movement began in similar fashion, arising out of the dire and also controversial warnings from Rachel Carson in her landmark book, Silent Spring. But even Carson would have been impressed with the behavioral changes your message calls for.

The multiplicity of solutions to the global warming crisis you offer will require an unprecedented modi-fication in collective worldview never before seen in human affairs within any time frame, let alone the one or two decades suggested. In short, you need all the help you can get - help that includes powerful,

non-fear-based components.

With all due respect for global warming’s potency as a change agent, that and nothing else comes close to the formal disclosure of the presence of non-human, intelligent beings for getting the human race’s atten-tion. It will and properly should be the most profound event in human history. If you wish for the human race to see itself as a singular species shepherd to its one and only home planet, helping to end the truth embargo will significantly improve that prospect.

But, as stated above, there is a significant bonus to this strategy. Behind the truth embargo is seques-tered extraterrestrial technology which, if brought into the public arena, could completely alter the tipping point equations presently scaring many out of their wits. In fact, there is no issue impacting the human condition that this technology could not ma-terially affect for the better.

Jimmy Carter knows this, Bill Clinton knows this, George H. W. Bush know this – they will not publicly speak to it. Will you speak for them?

Washington, DC April 30, 2008

Dear Senator Clinton:In March 1993 billionaire Laurance Rockefeller initi-ated an extraordinary approach to your husband’s administration via the Office of Science and Technol-ogy Policy headed by Dr. John Gibbons. A memoran-dum from Mr. Rockefeller’s attorney Henry Diamond dated March 29, 1993 conveyed a request to meet with Gibbons “to discuss the potential availability of

government in-formation about u n i d e n t i f i e d flying objects and extraterrestrial life.” Rockefeller, a friend and sup-porter of you and your husband,

wanted to meet with the President and inform him “there is a belief in many quarters that the govern-ment has long held classified information regard-ing UFOs which has not been released and that the failure to do so has brought about unnecessary sus-picion and distrust,” and that “Many believe that the release of such information on a basis consistent with national security would be a significant gesture which would increase confidence in government.”

Thus began a three-year effort by a notable American to convince your husband to essentially be the “Dis-closure President” and end a then 46-year truth embargo on providing the full facts to the American people regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. This effort, which included meetings, reports, briefings, a book, draft letters to the President and more, came to be known as the Rockefeller Initiative.

You were aware of this initiative from the beginning as was a key advisor to the President, John Podesta. You and your husband met with Rockefeller at his Wyoming ranch in August of 1995. Your husband tasked a close friend, Associate Attorney General Webster Hubbell, to look into the UFO issue at the Department of Justice and elsewhere. He tasked John Podesta, his eventual Chief of Staff, to reform and accelerate the document declassification process. You were kept informed of the ongoing initiative and helped draft a letter from Rockefeller to the Pres-ident. It is notable that John Podesta, the founder and now CEO of the Center for American Progress, in 2002 and 2003 called for the release to the public of all UFO and related documents in government files.

In 2004 Governor Bill Rich-ardson, UN Ambassador and Secretary of Energy during your husband’s administra-tion, made a similar request for documents pertaining to the events in Roswell, New Mexico during July of 1947.

These facts are known from news articles, public records and, most importantly, from nearly 1000 pages of correspondence and documents obtained by researcher Grant Cameron from the Office of Science and Technology Policy via the Freedom of Information Act. Additional relevant documents are expected to be released soon from the Clinton Pres-idential Library.

Senator, it is your ambition to reach a significant milestone in American history by becoming the first President of the United States who happens to be a woman, or put another way, the 49th female head of state. While this would be an admirable legacy, what the American people need is less legacy and more truth. The people have lost patience with “in loco parentis” government that treats them like children and candidates with long lists of issues they can’t discuss because it is not convenient to their campaign or the people “can’t handle the truth.”

Because you have been introduced to these matters within the context of the White House, because you aspire to the highest office in the nation, you have an extraordinary opportunity and primary obligation to address what is easily the most profound issue of our time – an issue with major national security and policy implications.

Open Letter to Senators Barack Obama and John

McCainOctober 17, 2008

Dear Senators:In less than three weeks one of you will be President Elect of the United States. When you take office on January 20, 2009 you will inherit a nation in crisis. One notable indicator of this crisis is the unprece-dented approval/trust ratings of the executive and legislative branches of government and the polit-ical press. The faith of the American people in the presidency, the congress and the media is so low the social contract itself is at the breaking point.

The public grants candidates and office holders the odd fib, occasional white lie, and exaggerated resume, but will not abide government lying about matters of life and death, war and peace, and the very nature of reality. Since 1947 there have been numerous breaches of public trust, but none more dangerous or impacting than the decision to withhold from the American people the facts behind an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.

Formal acknowledgement of this extraordinary cir-cumstance was initially withheld for national security reasons. This is understandable.

However, the pervasive and uninterrupted occur-rences of extraterrestrial-related phenomena world-wide prompted a direct intervention into the citizen efforts to understand what was happening. Thus was created the most extensive propaganda/disin-formation campaign in history often referred to as a cover-up but best described as a truth embargo. Citizens were threatened and harmed, research/activist organizations infiltrated and dismantled, newspapers and television networks recruited, false stories planted, documents destroyed, presidents denied information and Congress denied oversight. This is less understandable.

After the Cold War ended in 1991 military and agency employees witness to events and evidence con-firming the extraterrestrial presence began coming forward. Public awareness of the extraterrestrial issue grew and seventeen years later is essentially

universal. Nations such as France, China, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Brazil are releasing relevant classified documents and cooperating with citizen research organizations. But the United States govern-ment’s policy of embargo remains unchanged. This is unacceptable.

The truth embargo’s end and formal acknowledg-ment of the extraterrestrial presence are inevita-ble. What remains to be determined are when it happens, how much further damage is done to the public’s trust, and which nation will act first.

After the election you are going to receive many thousands of letters, faxes and emails from citizens of many nations calling for you to 1) demand a full briefing from your military services and intelligence agencies, 2) press for open and comprehensive con-gressional hearings, 3) formally acknowledge the extraterrestrial presence, and 4) release into the public domain extraterrestrial derived technolo-gies, secretly studied and reverse engineered for six decades, and now essential to overcome the environ-mental, economic and social challenges of our time.

As President Elect reach out to your party’s allies within the military and intelligence communities. When you take office conduct the necessary meetings with the cross agency committees managing the ex-traterrestrial presence issue. In the spring of 2009, before the truth embargo becomes your embargo, initiate disclosure of the extraterrestrial presence and begin rebuilding the trust of the American people in their government and the standing of your country in the world.

On October 17, 2008 PRG published an open letter to the candidates calling for them to make preparations to end the six-decade truth embargo regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. This letter reiterates that request.

Your staff is now aware that letters, faxes and emails are arriving at your former Senate office and the Washington, DC transition headquarters. In general this correspondence will ask of you the following:

1) demand a full briefing from your military services and intelligence agencies regarding what they know and what they are doing about extrater-restrial related phenomena. If you are told you do not have the proper clearance for this information, replace that person with someone who has read the Constitution.

2) press for open and comprehensive congres-sional hearings to take testimony from scores of gov-ernment witnesses who have already come forward with extraordinary evidence and are prepared to testify under oath.

3) formally acknowledge the extraterrestrial presence and finally end the truth embargo after 61 years.

4) make available for open development tech-nologies which have been secretly studied and reverse engineered for decades with unlimited black budget funding. These technologies are derived from extraterrestrial vehicles and are now essential to overcome the environmental, economic and societal challenges of our time.

PRG is well aware of your intention to launch a high technology “New Deal” code named “New Apollo Project” to restore America’s economy. This massive program to subsidize green technology develop-ment, create jobs, expand the manufacturing base and reverse the trade imbalance will be likely accom-panied by legislation prohibiting overseas hiring and offshore manufacturing.

All well and good, but it will not be enough. The chal-lenges are too great and the response to these chal-lenges too long delayed. It is essential the paradigm breaking technologies hidden in unacknowledged special access programs and sequestered behind the extraterrestrial truth embargo be included.

If you are in need of counsel to assist in you in these matters, you have but to turn to your transition co-chair, John Podesta. His efforts to end the truth embargo and release all relevant government docu-ments date back to at least 1993 and the Rockefeller Initiative. PRG believes he is fully aware of the ex-traterrestrial presence and is committed to creating more open, transparent governance. In this he is in sync with the chief financial backer of his Center for American Progress think tank, George Soros.

Reach out to your party’s allies within the military services and intelligence agencies. When you take office conduct the necessary meetings with the cross agency committees managing the extraterrestri-al presence issue. In the spring of 2009, before the truth embargo becomes your embargo, initiate the most profound event in human history and begin rebuilding the trust of the American people in their government and the standing of your country in the world.

Open Letter to President Barack Obama

June, 2014

Dear Mr. President:The last congressional hearing dealing with extrater-restrial phenomena here now and not somewhere “out there” was before the House Committee on Science and Astronautics on July 29, 1968 – a half-day event with three witnesses.

This month Paradigm Research Group (PRG) launched the most comprehensive effort ever to obtain com-prehensive congressional hearings for scores of military/agency/political witnesses ready to testify under oath to events and evidence confirming an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race – now.

Your White House is well aware of this issue as thousands of emails, letters and tweets have been received by your staff regarding the phenomena. And, of course, you would have been briefed on the matter by former Clinton White House advisor and chief of staff and your presidential transition co-chair-man and current advisor, John Podesta. On October 22, 2002 and October 23, 2003 Mr. Podesta called for the release of all UFO documents in government files because the “people have a right to know” and “it’s the law.”

www.exopoliticsmagazine.com

59

open letters: an exopolitical walk down memorY lane bY stephen bassett

Furthermore, on October 4, 2011 your Office of Science and Technology Policy issued a policy state-ment written by Dr. Phil Larson under the supervision of Dr. John Holdren with your approval. That state-ment is important for this paragraph:

“The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extrater-restrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evi-dence is being hidden from the public’s eye.” — https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/response/searching-et-no-evidence-yet

These three assertions by your administration are notable for three reasons:

1) all three are false,

2) all three are indefensibly false, and

3) they are part of the only written policy state-ment ever issued on the extraterrestrial issue by the White House.

Thank you.

After eighteen years of pursuing a political resolution to the truth embargo placed on the extraterrestrial reality by the United States government with the co-operation of its WWII allies, PRG can offer these im-portant recommendations for your administration as of June, 2014:

1. The truth embargo is collapsing. If the United States does not formally disclose the extraterres-trial presence soon, another head of state will do so. The two most likely candidates are President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping. Should that be the case the geopolitical consequences for the United States would be profoundly nega-tive. Please consider this outcome as you decide whether to be or not to be the Disclosure Presi-dent.

2. PRG well understands the difficult problem you face to be the Disclosure President. With-out the cooperation of the military/intelligence complex and the cross agency committees which manage the extraterrestrial issue you are almost powerless to act of your own accord. It is essen-tial you designate a key advisor to meet privately with representatives of these committees to at

least begin the discussion to find common ground for a Disclosure announcement. Possible candi-date? See above.

3. PRG’s Congressional Hearing Initiative is spearheaded by the video record of the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure held at the National Press Club from April 29 to May 3, 2013. Forty-two wit-nesses from ten countries testified for thirty hours over five days to six former members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate. Forty of those witnesses, along with many others, are ready to testify now before the appropriate congressional committees. DVD sets of the entire Citizen Hearing on Disclosure have been sent to every member of Congress and to the appropri-ate White House staff. Please request your staff review this video record. Also, please consider having members of your staff meet with a rep-resentative of PRG to discuss the Congressional Hearing Initiative and how that effort could help the White House solve the Disclosure problem.

The Congressional Hearing Initiative now underway is not designed to embarrass the White House. All that is being asked is that members of Congress, in the same manner as their former colleagues, sit and listen to the testimony of military/agency/political witnesses of rank and station regarding extrater-restrial related phenomena and asked appropriate questions. PRG believes such hearings will generate a massive media response that will create a platform upon which the White House can stand.

The head of state that makes the first announcement confirming the extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race will achieve an historical and politi-cal legacy of extraordinary importance for his or her country, party and administration.

At this time only you can achieve that legacy for your country and its citizens.

“Is there anybody out there?”by Anthony Beckett

“Of course it is possible that UFO’s really do contain aliens, as many people believe, and the government is hushing it up. I couldn’t possibly comment!”- Professor Stephen Hawking, at the White House Millennium Council, 2000

Intelligence in ScienceWithin the paradigm of our western culture, if some-thing cannot be demonstrated and tested by repeat-able scientific experimentation, then that something is probably not a real phenomenon. Much of what is termed supernatural for example simply means that it falls outside of the paradigms ability to test it.

For the phenomenon we call intelligence, the sci-entific community does not have a clear definition of what the phenomenon actually is. Whether we are looking at natural intelligence or artificial intel-ligence – the question of what intelligence is cannot be defined beyond a set of rules more akin to eco-nomics – where an organism attempts to allow itself to survive.

An additional problem in searching for the signs of intelligence is that the method of philosophical rea-soning used in science is deemed incompatible with deciding if a phenomenon is intelligently caused:

“The statements of science must invoke only natural things and processes.”

— Rule of Methodological Naturalism, National Academy of Science, Donald Kennedy et al., 1998

From this perspective the concept of seeking out the signs of intelligence in scientific data can only be an arduous if not impossible task.

The Search for Extraterrestrial IntelligenceIn a culture that relies of the philosophical reason-ing of science to tell us what is real, how are we to identify whether a signal is the result of extraterres-trial intelligence and not some natural phenomenon?

Geoff Marcy is an astronomer at the University of California at Berkeley. He is looking through the vast amount of data returned from the Kepler Space Observatory to look for signs of an advanced

extraterrestrial civilization.

While NASA’s Kepler mission itself is concerned with looking for evidence of exoplanets, Marcy is searching through the data in the hope of finding large objects radi-ating energy in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum.

It was British theoretical physi-cist and mathematician Freeman Dyson who first considered that “within a few thousand years of its entering the stage of industrial de-velopment, any intelligent species should be found occupying an ar-tificial biosphere which completely surrounds its parent star”.

This hypothetical artificial struc-ture is known as a Dyson Sphere. Variants of this idea include a mega structure in the form of an orbiting solar-powered array of satellites meant to completely en-compass a star, capturing most, if not all, of its energy output.

The question one has to ask is, what happens if Marcy finds an object fulfilling that criterion?

At what point will he be free to publish his findings, if he believes he has found evidence of a Type II Extraterrestrial Civilisation?

Pioneering Radio AstronomyIn 1899 Nikola Tesla built his Mag-nifying Transmitter in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This device was designed to conduct exper-iments in the wireless transmis-sion of electrical power and tele-communications. That same year he began hearing signals from it that he eventually came to believe emanated from an intelligent civil-isation on the planet Mars:

“Twenty-two years ago, while experimenting in Colorado

with a wireless power plant, I obtained extra-ordinary ex-perimental evidence of the ex-istence of life on Mars. I had perfected a wireless receiver of extra-ordinary sensitiveness, far beyond anything known, and I caught signals which I in-terpreted as meaning 1--2--3--4. I believe the Martians used numbers for communication because numbers are univer-sal.” – Nikola Telsa, 1922

It has been argued that Tesla may have mistaken the origin of the signals as being from Mars when it is likely that he was listening to singlet, doublet and triplet signals from periodic HF radiation that is known be emitted by Jupiter.

The Rise of SETIThe origin of the SETI program goes back to the work of radio as-tronomer Frank Drake at the Green Bank observatory in West Virginia in 1951. His “Project Ozma” was the first systematic attempt to detect artificial radio signals from nearby stars.

Drake used the 21-cm spectral line of hydrogen which he considered to be the best natural frequency to with which intelligent species may try to communicate with and he listened to two nearby, Sun-like stars epsilon Eridani and tau Ceti for six hours a day using an 85ft radio telescope at Green Bank.

“Ozma”, incidentally, was a ref-erence to the character Princess Ozma in L. Frank Baum’s the series of books about the Land of Oz, appearing in all the books except the first – The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Drake is most well-known for for-mulating a mathematical equation to estimate the number of detect-

able extra-terrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy. It is an often citied equation that he first came up with while at the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center in the US in 1961.

The Drake Equation: N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L

N: The number of civilizations in our galaxy that communica-tion might be possible

R*: The average rate of star formation per year in our gal-axy

fp: The fraction of stars with planets

ne: The average number of planets that can possibly sup-port life (per star with planets)

fl: The fraction that can go on to support life

fi: The fraction that can go on to support intelligent life

fc: The fraction of civilizations that develop technology de-tectable from space

L: The length of time a civiliza-tion goes on to release detect-able signs into space

The value of N is highly uncer-tain given that our civilisation is not in a position of know most of the variables with any degree of accuracy. Until recently the only variable that could be estimated with any degree of confidence was R (rate of star formation in the Milky Way) which is thought to be in the order of one star per year.

Recent discoveries of extra-so-lar planets have reduced the uncertainty in other factors: fp (fraction of stars with planets) and

ne (avg. no. planets per star that could support life). As of October 13th, 2013, 998 exoplanets have been discovered in 759 planetary systems including 169 multiple planetary systems.

According to Drake, the average of people’s “best estimates” suggested that there are about 10,000 technically advanced civil-isations spread across our galaxy. This concept gave rise to the SETI program.

The Wow SignalDuring the 1960’s, spurred on by Drakes work, Soviet scien-tists began using unidirectional antennae to listen to a large region of sky rather than narrow regions used by the western astronomers.

In the early 1970’s NASA’s Ames Research Center began looking at the technology required to imple-ment an SETI search and by the late-1970’s programs had been established at both NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California and the Jet Propul-sion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California.

In a 1955 issue of Scientific American, astronomer John Kraus described a concept to scan the cosmos for natural radio signals using a flat-plane radio telescope equipped with a parabolic reflec-tor. Two years later his concept had been approved for construc-tion by Ohio State University. The radio telescope built in Delaware, Ohio was called Big Ear and it later began the world’s first continuous SETI program.

It was this Ohio State University SETI program that became well known when, on August 15, 1977, a project volunteer witnessed a

startlingly strong signal received by the telescope. Volunteer, Jerry Ehman quickly circled the indi-cation on a printout and writing the phrase “Wow!” in the margin. The signal did not repeat and has never been detected since.

Could the “Wow” signal have been a radio signal from an artificial, ex-tra-terrestrial source?

Attempting to resolve this question using only the tool of science alone leaves us forever looking to eliminate “natural” mecha-nisms as being the source of this signal. Science cannot answer this question alone.

Anyone can attempt answer the question using other tools in the philosophical toolbox. However, if a scientist attempts this they would leave them open to making a mistake; so on the whole they simply do not attempt to make statements like this through fear of personal and professional re-percussions.

Signal LGM-1A decade before the “Wow” signal, at the Mullard Radio Astrono-my Observatory in Cambridge,

England, astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell and her colleagues discovered an anomalous radio transmission:

“We did not really believe that we had picked up signals from another civilization, but obvi-ously the idea had crossed our minds and we had no proof that it was an entirely natural radio emission.”

“It is an interesting problem — if one thinks one may have de-tected life elsewhere in the uni-verse, how does one announce the results responsibly?” — Jocelyn Bell Burnell

The signal became known as Signal LGM-1, (“little green men”) and the hypothesis was only aban-doned once a second pulsating source was discovered in a differ-ent part of the sky.

When all else fails…A year later in 1968 astronomer Thomas Gold proposed an alter-native hypothesis for the source of LGM-1 which became known as a pulsar:

“A neutron star emits two op-posed beams of synchrotron radiation confined to a narrow cone about the star’s magnetic axis. We then perceive pulses as the beams swing by us if we happen to be in the cone that they sweep out.”

However, at a conference on Communication with Extra-terrestrial Intelligence (CETI) in the Soviet Union, the well-known

astronomer Carl Sagan suggested that certain radio emissions may be potential intelligently caused signals:

“The very serious current energy problems both in quasar and in gravity wave physics can be ameliorated if we imagine these energy sources beamed in our direction. But preferential beaming in our direction makes little sense unless there is a message in these channels. A similar remark might apply to pulsars.

“There are a large number of other incompletely understood phenomena, from Jovian decameter bursts to the high time-resolution structure of X-ray emission which might just conceivably be due to ETI.

“Perhaps, in the light of Doctor Marx’s presentation, we must ask if the fine structure of some fluctuating X-ray sources is due to pulsed X-ray lasers for interstellar spaceflight. But Shklovsky’s principle of assuming such sources natural until proven otherwise, of course, holds. Extraterrestrial intelligence is the explanation of last resort, when all else fails.”

– Dr. Carl Sagan

Erring on the side of cautionThe 17th century astronomer Johannes Kepler wrote in his novel Somnium:

“When things are in order, if the cause of the orderliness cannot be deduced from the motion of the elements or from the composition of matter, it is quite possibly a cause possessing a mind. If you direct your mind to the towns on the moon, I shall prove to you that I see them.

“In the spotted parts of the moon the perfectly round shape of the hollows, and their arrangement or a certain equality of the distances between them, are artificial and produced by some architectural mind. For that scooping out into the form of a circle cannot be accomplished by any motion of the elements.”

Kepler however was in error when he suggested that circles, as seen on the moon, cannot be created by natural means. Both meteor impacts and electrical dis-charge arcing can produce circular patterns.

Eliminating All Natural CausesThe scientific method does not allow inference to intelligent causes until all natural causes

have been eliminated. However, exhausting all natural causes is a logical impossibility.

From this perspective science is not able to infer that either Stone-henge or the Great Pyramids of Giza were intelligently caused. It can only continually attempt to eliminate new natural causes as being responsible for the config-uration of the stones within the structure.

Regarding Geoff Marcy’s search for “Dyson Spheres”; how does he eliminate all the possible natural causes that could account for a large astronomical object in space found to be radiating perhaps only in the infrared range of the elec-tromagnetic spectrum?

Whether the potential extraterres-trial artefacts under investigation are radio signals, physical objects or even alien spacecraft – a sci-entist would essentially need to ignore the rules and the method-ology of science in order to make statements about it. Otherwise they “couldn’t possibly comment”.

“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt up in your philosophy” — Shakespeare, Hamlet Act 1, Scene 5

Speaker Profile: Richard Dolan

Richard Dolan is among the world’s leading researchers and historians of the UFO subject. He is the author of two volumes of history, UFOs and the National Security State volumes one and two, as well as an analysis of the future, A.D. After Disclosure: When the Government Finally Reveals the Truth About Alien Contact and more recent he pub-lished UFOs for the 21st Century Mind in 2014.

Richard Dolan spoke at our very first event in 2009 and he has since become a regular guest of Exopolitics Great Britain. He will be speaking again on Sunday September 28th 2014 at our 6th Annual British Exopolitics Expo.

Richard was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1962 and holds an

MA in History from the University of Rochester and a BA in History from Alfred University. He earned a Certificate in Political Theory from Oxford University and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist.

Prior to his interest in anomalous phenomena, Dolan studied US Cold War strategy, Soviet history, and international diplomacy. His interest in the UFO phenome-non began when he discovered that the very same government offices that he had studied in his postgraduate study had a close interest in the UFO phenomenon. What began as a personal study for Richard grew into a 500-page book, UFOs and the National Security State: Chronology of a Cover-up - 1941-1973, publisher in 2000.

Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell called the book “mon-umental,” while Dr. Hal Puthoff, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin, declared it to be “a must-read for serious students in the field.”

The is the first volume of a his-torical narrative of the national security dimensions of the UFO

phenomenon from 1941 to the present. Included are the records of more than fifty military bases relating to violations of sensitive airspace by unknown objects, demonstrating that the US military has taken the topic of UFOs seri-ously indeed. The second volume covering the period of 1973-1991 and the end of the cold war was published in 2009.

Richard is a regular guest on Coast-to-Coast AM radio, has also appeared on many television specials for The History Channel, SyFy, BBC, and elsewhere. Since 2012, Richard has hosted “The Richard Dolan Show,” airing on KGRA Radio every Saturday evening, from 8-11 pm EST.

In his books, articles, and many interviews, Richard has analyzed the destruction of our political liberties as a result of the UFO cover-up, the possible nature of the non-humans themselves, what their presence means for our civilization, why he believes the cover-up will end within our lifetime, and what is likely to happen after that.
