Promote management excellencein South Asia by networkingmanagement development

institutions and facilitating theirpartnership with corporate

enterprises and public agenciesin the region

Association of Management Development Institutions in SouthAsia (AMDISA), a SAARC recognized body was chartered in1988. as a network of Management Development Institutionsin South Asia with the generous support from CommonwealthSecretariat and active involvement of leading ManagementSchools in the region. Most important purpose of AMDISA hasbeen to ensure continuous improvement in quality ofmanagement education. In less than two decades, AMDISAhas performed a synergistic role and emerged as a vibrantinstitution which could hardly be accomplished by any individualinstitution in the region. There are 987 management schoolsin India, 123 in Pakistan, 21 in Bangladesh, 8 in Sri Lanka and5 in Nepal and one each in Bhutan and Maldives. Most ofthem have been established during the past decade. This growthhas given rise to uneven quality of management schools, andhas made the task of AMDISA more complex. Stakeholders ofmanagement education in South Asia are becoming increasinglycritical of management education imparted by many institutions.Dealing with heterogeneity and complexity and ensuring qualityis a major challenge of AMDISA in the coming years.

AMDISA membership services include AMDISA Newsletter, itsquarterly magazine South Asian Journal of Management (SAJM),and books and monographs published from time to time. Themember organizations are also invited to participate inworkshops, seminars, conferences, colloquium and biennialSouth Asian Management Forum.
