Every child is special in our school and we believe that

education begins by nurturing & it is a continuous process.

Besides well equipped classrooms ,we have extensive

facilities to support learning such as multipurpose hall,

basketball court, volleyball court, swimming pool and

playground in our school. A variety of extra-curricular

activities and clubs are seen as an integral part of the

school.

We offer practical education so as to create future scientists

through our well-equipped biology, physics and chemistry

laboratories. In addition to the theoretical knowledge,

students get real practice and get to learn by touching, seeing

and experimenting.

There is an ICT laboratory with the intention of producing

knowledgeable students in science, technology and

modern innovation. Our computer laboratory serves as the

starting point of this life long journey.

In order for our students to have exposure, we are arranging

various trips (field trips, educational trips & tours etc.)

within the country. CURRICULUM

The school offers competence-based curriculum in line

with formative evaluation. We implement the Tanzania

National Curriculum. The school encourages learning by

doing which helps students to understand and apply what

they learn. The following subjects are offered: Basic

Mathematics, English Language, History, Geography,

Civics, Kiswahili, Biology, Physics, Chemistry,

Commerce & Book-Keeping.

DIGITAL TEACHING AND LEARNING

We at Burhani school have planned to go for Digital learning for Form I from the Academic year 2022 and henceforth.

An android tablet which will be available at school for each student is a key requirement for the same. More so, the tablet

has inbuilt learning content and it’s customised in form of the quest forward learning program which is widely used by

secondary schools in Tanzania and internationally. The tablet will serve as a substitute for textbooks therefore the students

will not have to buy them except commerce and Book-keeping which have not been included in the program but shall be

intensively covered using learner-centered teaching approach & teaching through technological Aids like smartboard &

smart Tv.

SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE

We envision to have a beautiful, supportive and friendly environment to allow learners from different backgrounds to learn

in a conducive environment therefore we ensure that a good infrastructure is our top priority.

We have supportive infrastructure such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology Laboratories with modern apparatus and

equipments, Library with different kinds of books, Computer Laboratory and modern classrooms. Currently, We are about

to finish the construction of our modern canteen which will be able to accommodate all students and teachers.

ADVANCED LEVEL SECONDARY EDUCATION

We started to offer Form V programme this year, July 2021 with Five

Combinations:- PCM, PCB, CBG, ECA and HKL. Admissions are still

open for students to join for Form V and VI. We have a very conducive,

flexible as well as friendly environment for students to learn and grow.

Parents and Guardians are welcome to Burhani School to seek admission

for their children in Advanced Level.

ONGOING ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

The quality of education provided in Burhani School can be measured by the academic achievements of Secondary

students in School Exams and National Exams. At Burhani we have various assessment and evaluation tools which intend

to measure and evaluate learners in term of academic achievement. The tools are as follows:-

TOPICAL TESTS: This is a Test-Teach-Test approach where the students are tested at the end of the topic in order to

check their comprehension of the underlying concept of the topic.

MONTHLY TESTS: We conduct monthly tests to evaluate our students for all Form I, II, III, IV and V. This has

immensely assisted in improving student’s performance and building a sense of competition among themselves.

INTER CLASS EXAMS: We conducted interclass exam between Form IV and Form II. All students secured good grades

and divisions.

Besides these evaluation tools, we conduct midterm, terminal, mock, pre-mock, pre-national as well as annual exams. The

exam papers are set based on the NECTA Format, competence and reflect the formative evaluation.

IN-SERVICE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

EXTRA– CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

CAREER GUIDANCE & COUNSELLING PROGRAM

BURHANI SCIENCE CLUB

We conducted the Annual Sports Day on 5th August 2021. Students participated in different games including bicycle

race for boys and girls, game of eating potatoes, athletics, football and netball matches.

The students were divided into their specified houses like blue, green, yellow and red teams. The yellow house team was

the winner followed by the green house, and the red house secured the third position. Congratulations to the winners, staff

and management for making the event successful.

We conducted a special programme for career guidance

and counselling on 16th July 2021, to create awareness

among the students regarding scope of different fields &

tertiary programs. The programme was facilitated by

Dr. Lucian, a lecturer and researcher at university of

Dodoma. It helped our students to understand different areas

of study and how to accomplish their dreams.

Teachers need ongoing training in order to become

more effective, and cope with the rapid changes of the

world, specifically in teaching and learning. We

conducted a special in-service training for our teachers

on 17th July 2021. The training focused on teaching

and learning methods which reflect the competence

based curriculum. Teachers had an opportunity to share

their experiences with the facilitator (Dr Lucian) on how

teaching has to be in the 21st century.

This is a programme which aspires to build a generation of innovators and change makers through hands on learning

and implementation of the same for the betterment of the community by conducting various scientific experiments.

The programme started at our school in August, 2021. Students are involved in testing and prototyping and developing

various scientific projects under Burhani Science club supported by Robotech labs ltd.

This is an ongoing program hence the students are encouraged to join the program.

STUDENTS’ MEETING

DEBATE SESSIONS AND SUBJECT CLUBS

Extra-curricular activities are very important for all round

development of students. We organize debate sessions in

each class, where students discuss on various contemporary

issues. This helps them to broaden their thinking capacity

and develop speaking skills. In this term, Form I N & S

competed on the debate with the motion stated

“KISWAHILI LANGUAGE SHOULD BE USED IN

ALL ASPECTS IN TANZANIA”. Form I N won the

competition. Congratulations to all the participants.

ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION

We envision to create a strong foundation for our students

in different fields of study. This cannot be achieved

without doing activities which can broaden the horizon of

our students. We conduct essay writing competition as a

part of extra-curricular activities. On 3rd August Form I S

and N wrote on the topic “CONTRIBUTION OF

INDUSTRIES TO THE ECONOMY OF TANZANIA”

students wrote sound essays depicting their competence

not only in core-curriculum but also in writing.

FORM IV GRADUATION CEREMONY

We care and listen to our students’ challenges and needs in

our school. Students are given an opportunity to discuss on

different issues during students meeting. The meeting is

chaired by the Head Girl and the Head boy. This helps to

solve their concerns and enable them to effectively

concentrate on studies. We allow students to conduct

meetings twice per term.

PARENTS’ MEETING

A Parent-Teacher Meeting for Form II and IV classes

was held on 11th September, 2021 to discuss the

performance of students with their parents. Parents were

given feedback on their children’s performance in the

Pre-national exam.

It was a great interaction between the teacher and the

parents for the development of their children where they

discussed both the strengths and areas of improvements.

The progress report was shown to the parents, and their

suggestions were noted. Any sign of a child failing to

make progress, regardless of whether they are in the

lower, middle or higher range is questioned and

addressed.

The PTM came to an end with the conclusion that joint

effort, mutual understanding and co-operation of parents

and teachers are very important for the improvement

and progress of students.

The graduation ceremony was organized on 23rd

October 2021 for the second outgoing batch. The chief

guest for the occasion was Mr Said Mbaruk Rashid, the

guest of honours were Md. Clara Materu, the central and

Ward executive officer & Md Furaha Godfrey, the Central

Ward education officer. Different events like acrobatics,

drama, presentation, welcome & goodbye song etc. were

included in the program. The graduation day concluded
