Reread your submission to ensure that it answers the following questions:

• What problem or need was addressed?

• What was the goal of your program?

• What actions were taken?

• How did you evaluate its success?

• What is creative or unique about this project?

Award Details and Recognition

1. This competition is open to all ATA locals and student locals.

2. To be considered, applications must be received on or before June 1, 2018.

3. Locals applying for the award must provide the name of the local president and identify a project leader who has agreed to serve as a contact for the purposes of the application.

4. Submissions should be presented on 8½-by-11-inch paper and include support materials. Every entry should include a competition entry form as well as a summary that describes the problems or needs addressed, the goals and objectives, actions taken, samples of support materials, and a program or project evaluation.

5. The ATA reserves the right to reproduce and publish copies of project materials submitted in support of an application.

6. Entries are judged by an independent panel of communications professionals who base their decisions on the following criteria: research (20 per cent), planning (25 per cent), communication (20 per cent), evaluation (25 per cent) and innovation (10 per cent). Specific scoring criteria can be found on the Association website (www.teachers.ab.ca) under My ATA>Programs and Services> Grants, Awards and Scholarships>Local Public Relations Awards.

7. Award of Excellence will be presented to representatives of the award-winning locals at the 2019 ATA Summer Conference.

Competition Details

Award of Excellence: This award goes to the ATA local that planned and implemented the most comprehensive public relations program for the 2018/19 school year. Applications should demonstrate a well-researched communications plan for the year containing multiple tactics targeting a variety of audiences and an evaluation of the program’s effectiveness. The winning local in this category will receive a trophy at the ATA Summer Conference.
