Samvaad, an annual business symposium, is organized by the students of NMP, MDI Gurgaon as a platform for exchange of ideas among the brightest minds in the country. It provides a unique opportunity to the students and the executives alike to gain insights on Strategy, Leadership, Innovation and Creativity. Panelists at the event include leading entrepreneurs, company heads, leadership gurus, academicians and industry stalwarts from various sectors.

The theme for Samvaad 2019 was - “Digital Leadership: Reading between 0s and 1s” – From buzzword to value creation, from supply chain to production to customer experience, digitization is transforming the way industry functions- and un-leasing global opportunities for value creation. The conclave was graced by the esteemed presence of proven leaders from an array of industries and Organizations.

• The first panel had an electric debate on “Digital Operation: Planting the seeds of change” by eminent panelists - Mr. Nikhil Kush (India Leader- Supply Chain Projects, PATH), Mr.Nikhil Shankar (Head- North India, UrbanClap), Mohit Gulyani ( Senior Director- Strategic Partnership, Moglix)

• The second session gave insights on “Digital HR: Deep Learning Employee Emotions”. The Panel was consisted of of Ms. Amrita Mallik (Asst. The companies conduct Pre-Placement Talks to give in-depth information about themselves, including the roles, profiles being offered and their expectations from current participants.

MDI's National Management Programme (NMP-since 1988) is one of the oldest executive programs in the country with a very strong alumni base. I have been teaching the students of this program since 2004 and always admire their willingness to learn and go an extra mile to absorb the learning to make it practically relevant. Over the years, I found that this program prepares the executive participants to hold a leadership position in various functional areas e.g., marketing, finance, HR, strategy, IT and operations. The participants demonstrate a strong connect between their past work experience and classroom learning. Pedagogy

The pedagogy of the programme demands substantial participation as it is highly interactive. Teaching is based on recent research studies and experience gathered from around the world. Teaching methods include lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, role plays, simulations exercises, structured and unstructured group work and field visits. The emphasis is on motivating the participants to integrate the concepts, learned across the core curriculum and apply them to their own work and contemporary business situations.

Group Activities

Group activities provide excellent opportunities to examine a business problem collectively and to learn from the varied cross functional experiences of the participants. The group learning activities can be broadly classified as group assignment, case analysis and presentations, and group tasks in learning by doing.

International Component (Optional)

After the completion of 12 months of the course at the MDI campus, participants shall be given an international exposure for a period of 2 weeks in ESCP, Europe.

Evaluation

Participants are evaluated on a continuous basis. There is a final examination at the end of each term. Course evaluation is in terms of letter grades. Participants are required to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average in each term, as well as a minimum letter grade in each course. The overall performance in the

programme would also include the evaluation of the dissertation/ project work. The dissertation/project report is required to be submitted within 3 months of completion of the course for successful completion of the Programme. All components of the programme are to be completed within a period of Fifteen months from the date of commencement of the programme.

Specialization

In order to do specialization in a functional area, a minimum of four electives must be taken from that area.

In total the number of elective courses to be taken by each participant is eleven in both terms combined. Remaining elective courses can be taken from any functional area or from the pool of stand-alone electives which may or may not have inter-linkages with other courses. If a student has not taken 4 or more elective courses in any functional area, he/she will not be considered as having specialized in any functional area and will be given a General Management specialization. The elective courses offered in a term shall be announced towards the end of the previous term to enable pre-registration for courses as also to decide which electives will be offered and which shall not be offered on account of inadequate number of students wanting to enroll/opt for the same.

The specializations can be in the following Areas: Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Management, Operations Management, Strategy Management and Marketing.

Dissertation/ Project Work

In addition to core and elective courses, each student is required to complete dissertation/ project work, equivalent to three credits. In dissertation a student will address a clearly defined live problem of an organization/ business. A faculty member from MDI will have to be chosen to provide guidance for the project work. Students also have to choose one guide from

the industry for their project work. The students submit copies of their typed dissertation report and will defend their work before a panel of examiners.

The dissertation work is evaluated and the grade obtained is counted for the final CGPA.

Diploma

Participants who successfully complete the Programme are awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (National Management Programme) which is recognized by AICTE. The Programme is also accredited by AMBA.

• Alumni Meet An Alumni Meet is organized every year on the Campus.

It is a major event where alumni members gather in large numbers and share their experiences.

• Alumni Association

The Alumni Association functions at the Institute as an organization through which the alumni of the Institute can keep in touch with various activities of their alma mater. It also acts as a forum through which the Institute obtains feedback from the alumni regarding the educational programmes. Every person receiving a degree/diploma of the Institute automatically becomes a life member of the Association; members have the benefit of the use of Institute library at nominal charges.

A community to find answers to happiness and to many seemingly complex questions in the field of spirituality. And, use this knowledge to become effective self leaders. The aim of the SELF community is to be a support system for our executive groups to help achieve inner peace, consistent happiness and extend a helping hand and a listening ear.

• Mentee Programme A group of students along with Alumni and a faculty

from MDI Gurgaon for guidance with respect to taking most benefits from the EMP Programme along with Career counseling, and seeking advise related to work-life balance.

• Extra-curricular Activities In addition to the above, the organising committee

comprising of students and EGP office plans extra-curricular activities throughout the academic year. The academic year consisting extra-curricular activities in line with academic activities is shared with all respective stake-holders to plan their academic and official engagements accordingly, so as to take maximum benefits from both aspects of their overall engagement with MDI Gurgaon.

• Sports The Institute has a Golf course, Basket Ball, floodlit

Badminton and Tennis courts and facilities for indoor games like table tennis. Cricket & Football are some of the other popular games. There are a number of in-house competitions, which finally culminate in the annual sports meet involving the students, faculty and staff of MDI.

• Award of Medals The following medals have been instituted to

award meritorious performance in the PGDM-NMP programme. The students will be placed on First, Second and Third position in order of Merit for various medals according to the overall CGPA. In case of tie in CGPA, the raw scores obtained by the students will be the criteria for deciding the medal/merit/position. However, the decision of the competent authority in this regard, will be final.

The alumni committee comprises of selected students from the NMP batch and is headed

by a senior faculty. It is majorly responsible for developing relationship with previous

alumni of the institution. The committee periodically contacts alumni to know about their

current status and gathers their latest contact details such as emails, phone & LinkedIn.

Through relationship building it often finds out some potential contacts who could help in

the recruitment of the bright candidates of NMP. It acts as one of the primary contributor to

the placement team to help with placement process. The committee also organizes major

events like Regional Alumni meet and National Alumni meet. These are reunion type of

meetings with alumni located at NCR and rest of India respectively. In these get- together

the current batch could get in touch with previous batches and receive knowledge about

the market conditions and job opportunities along with academic guidance. Additionally

some candid guest sessions with previous alumni who are well established in their jobs or

business are also arranged by the committee for the benefit of the entire batch.

with the corporate sector by way of organising Guest Lectures of eminent professionals

also manages various social media communication with respect to the events being

organised and other initiatives. The team works closely with SELF – Spirituality for
