The Exam.

For Unit 1 you will need to know about the subject in the Pre-release booklet. (The impact of medical developments on mankind ).

For Unit 2 – there is nothing you can revise!!You will not know the topics or subjects.You will of course need to know the exam

format – multi choice, problem solving and extended writing and the pre-release booklet.

• You need to be able to read the questions.

• You will need to be able to read the resources thoroughly.

• You will need to be able to think about what you have read and add your own general knowledge.

• You will need to be able to use your writing skills to construct relevant answers! (Both in style and construction!)

• 30 objective multiple choice test questions testing data response and thinking skills

Section A (25%)

• Short and extended answer responses based on stimulus material

Section B (20%)

• Extended answer responses related to stimulus material

Section C (30%)

Section A (25%) An objective (multiple choice) test.

• Candidates will be required to answer 30 questions• (15 pairs).• Each pair will be based on stimulus material:

tables, maps, graphs, charts, images, cartoons, text, etc.

• Some questions will require interpretation of the stimulus; other questions will require greater analysis, mathematical calculations and thinking skills.

Section B (20%) A problem-solving exercise.

Candidates will be required to answer three short-answer questions which may be divided into a number of parts and an extended writing question.

The questions will be based on a collection of

varied stimulus material which will consist of a number of sources on a common topic.

Unit 2: Section C (30%) An extended writing exercise.

• Candidates will be required to answer one question from a choice of two.

• Each question will be divided into three parts.• Each question will have its own stimulus in the

form of text, images, cartoons, diagrams, graphs etc.
