Moving beyond an ‘add women and stir’ approach to climate change and development is imperative if we are to create relevant and useful gender-sensitive knowledge.

On Wednesday 15 October, the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) will organise a special event launching the Gender & Inclusion Toolbox : Participatory Research in Climate Change & Agriculture. The ambiton is to further elaborate on gender-sensitive research approaches in the context of development, climate change and agriculture research.

The launch will be held at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in the Conference Hall, while being live-streamed to a global audience. This event coincides with the International Day of Rural Women.

The Gender and Inclusion Toolbox is a participatory methodology guide on how to create socially differentiated research for climate adaptation and mitigation projects. Presentations and input from ICRAF, CARE International, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will be held in parallel to the launch, along with a Gender Networking Lunch.

In the afternoon, participants will join breakout sessions using participatory games and learning activities to reflect on the value of gender and social differentiation in agriculture and climate change programming.

Interested in joining? Reserve your seat by 8 October by sending an email to Risper Nyairo: [email protected]. Please indicate name, number of attendees, organization and contact information.
