Take A Breather Charity Challenge Event Procedures 6 hr Rogaine Saturday 17th August 2013 How to Rogaine information sessions in small groups starts at 8:30am – 9:15am. Maps issued at 9:00am, Rogaine Start: 11:00am. Thank you for entering. This rogaine is presented by the South Australian Rogaining Association and Asthma Foundation SA, hence the title “Take a Breather”. To ensure you enjoy your day please view the equipment checklist on the reverse side. Getting There | Saturday 17th August 2013 Allow approximately one hour travelling time from the CBD. If travelling from the north of Adelaide you can use either the South Para Road or the North East Road or the Gorge Road to the Cudlee Creek township. From Cudlee Creek use the Cudlee Creek/Lobethal Road and exit to the right onto Fox Creek Road. Follow the ROGAINE signs to the event site on Crofts Road. Alternatively if travelling from the CBD or south of Adelaide using the SE freeway take the exit at Hahndorf and turn onto the Onkaparinga Road to Woodside. At Woodside turn left onto Tiers Road and travel to Lenswood. At Lenswood, cross the main road (Adelaide/Lobethal Road) into Cold Store Road and follow the ROGAINE signs to the event site on Croft Road. When you arrive, marshals shall give you parking instructions. Detailed final instructions will be posted one week prior to the event.. Camping & Accommodation Camping will not be available near the administration/hash house meeting area. Outdoor Tips & Tricks To Rogaining Due to popular demand the South Australian Rogaining Association has kindly offered to provide an outdoor tips and tricks training session in the weeks prior to the event for those who want to get serious! The 6 hr rogaine event starts at 11am. The start and finish point is the Hash House (where dinner will be served later in the day). The late penalty is 10 points per minute and teams back more than 30 minutes late will be disqualified. Event briefing and electronic tag initialisation will commence 20 minutes prior to the start. Catering

Water and fruit will be provided at several locations along the course for use by the competitors. Hot food and drinks will be available at the Hash House at the end of the event from 4pm. Please bring your own mug, wine glass, plate and cutlery, these items will not be provided for you. The Hash House is provided strictly for those who have paid (Non competitors payment of $15 per head can be made to Admin on the day).

The Standard Rogaine Rules are available for download from the SARA website:

They will be available to read at the event site. ALL COMPETITORS MUST ABIDE BY THE RULES AND RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY.

We are only able to run this event by the generosity of the local landowners.

You are guests on their land; please repay their trust by respecting the following simple rules:

— Competitors should not pass within 100 metres of a dwelling

— Keep out of areas marked out of bounds

— Keep clear of livestock, change your course to avoid “herding” animals

— No fires (including smoking)

— No dogs

— Do not litter

We hope that you will enjoy ‘taking a breather’ at the 2013 6 hour rogaine

Equipment Checklist

Safety Equipment (compulsory)

n First Aid Kit, whistle per person, emergency foil blanket per person, 2 roller bandages per person

Competitors will not be allowed out on the course without these items. Whistles and bandages may be available for sale at administration on the day.

General Equipment

n Eating utensils for Hash House (plate, bowl, mug, knife, spoon, fork and wine glass)

n Water – enough required for your personal use n Table and chairs for planning your route and eating

dinner by the fire n Planning items: paper, pens, hi-lighter, scissors, map

measurer n A change of warm clothes for after the event

(including shoes) n Course Items n Compass (use of a GPS unit during the event is not

permitted - but may be used to record your track) n Watch and pencil n Water bottles, at least 2 Litres per person, energy food n Mobile phone Use of mobile phones (with GPS capabilities), electronic

tracking devices or pedometer devices are not permitted. Having a mobile phone for ‘emergency events’ (i.e. injury or late return) to contact the organisers is recommended. Use of mobile phones for taking photographs is also acceptable, but is preferred that you use a camera only capable device if possible.

Clothing

n Bring thermal top and bottom, waterproof jacket and pants – just in case

n Walking boots, gaiters, sunscreen, hat, daypack n Bring a change of clothing and shoes for after the

event.
