Evaluation part 3

We decided on Vertigo Films to be the media institution to distribute and produce our film. This is because it is an independent studio that backs commercially ambitious films from a multitude of genres. Also, Allan Niblo is one of the co- founders and we chose him to be the producer of our film as well so it made sense to use his company to produce and distribute it.

Another point is our director, Nick Love, has worked with the company many times for most of his films making it a good choice to use the company. Examples of films that have been directed by Nick Love and either produced or distributed by Vertigo Films are The Sweeney, Outlaw, and The Football Factory; they also have the same genre as our film.

We will also be applying for BFI (British Film Institute) funding using vertical integration in the production process. This is so we can source the amount we need (having a budget of £3 million). Even though this is a low budget British film, we thought it was necessary to do this so we can secure the money we need for the film. We should be able to get the funding as we have looked at their culture test and think our film would pass it. An example of a film that has been funded by the BFI and has the same genre of ours is Sherlock Jr.
