Most contents page of the

magazines that I had a

look have three things in

common.

First thing is the

pictures.

Second thing is list of

contents which shows us

page numbers of each

topic.

Third thing is a text from

someone.

HAVE YOU INCLUDED THOSE CONVENTIONS IN

YOUR FRONT COVER?

I have included some of the things that good student magazines have for example clear masthead, a picture of a student, price and some cover lines. However I haven’t included any catchy names or catchy cover lines, I haven’t put anything that make people want to buy my magazine for example chance of winning an IPod or a iTunes voucher.

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT

PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

For my magazine, it mostly represents students as it is a student magazine however it also represents teachers as well. My magazine represents them because in the magazine it has something to do with them for example what the boarders do in the boarding and how do the teachers in the boarding look after them.

Page 8: Evaluation of student magazines

SO HOW DOES IT REPRESENTS TEACHERS?

As we could see in the

photo that they are

studying and the

teacher is teaching

these two students. It

shows that the teacher

cares about the

students as he gives

them extra lessons

outside the class room.

WHAT KIND OF LANGUAGE DO YOU USE FOR

YOUR MAGAZINE.

For my magazine the language would be both informal and formal language as my main targeted audiences are students, however their parents might have a look a my magazine as well so it has to be both informal and formal. If I use too formal language non of the students would be my magazine and they will find its boring. I used formal and informal language because when the students read my magazine they would find it more funny and interesting and when the parents read my magazine they will feel like my magazine is not just for fun but also have some useful facts. Therefore I would be able to sell my magazine more.

WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT

DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

My school would distribute my student magazine

because it contains some useful stuff in it for

example exam trips and ways to get better grades.

My magazine is not contain only some serious fact

but it also contains some fun facts as well.

Therefore the school might find it fun and useful

for their students so it will help me to distribute my

magazine.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR MY

MAGAZINE?

As I mentioned before

the main target

audience of my

magazine would be

students, however it

could also be parents if

they find my magazine

is useful for their

children.

Page 12: Evaluation of student magazines

HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR

AUDIENCE?

I tried to get my target audience to by my

magazine by putting some cover lines that seem

interesting for them for example “Thank God it’s

Friday”, “Ways to get better grades and “Fun time”

depend on what they find interesting. Some of

them might want to know what is the cover line of

Thank God it’s Friday would be about or some

might want to know what can they do to get better

grades.

FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS

PRODUCT?For making my student magazine, I had to used some software in order to create the magazine. The software that I had been used were :
