In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My music magazine is similar to real music magazines because: it has a colourful masthead which is located in the top-left corner of the page to attract attentionIt uses the same bold font throughout the magazineIt has a large main image on the coverIt has a bar code and the price on the coverIt uses multiple sell lines Some quotes are made to stand out in the interview sectionImages are used in the contents pageI have advertised free posters on the front coverI have used a skyline on the front cover

However my magazine differs from real music magazines because:There is no date on the front coverThe main image is not PhotoshoppedThe cover mount is on the right of the page on my front cover, not the leftI have used a larger number of different colours in my colour scheme

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My music magazine represents teenagers and young adults because it is bright and colourful and shows young people on the cover. It also advertises events and bands which are more popular among young people.

3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The distributers of my magazine would be the print industry. Some individual shops which may sell my magazine would be news agents or maybe even online shops such as the app store or the eBook shop. Bauer publishing is a large magazine publishing company which distributes magazines such as take a break and the music magazine Q. I would have my music magazine published by Bauer because their magazines are largely successful and popular so my magazine would be distributed to a wider audience.

4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my music magazine is teenagers and young people who enjoy music, especially indie music.

5) How do you attract/address your audience?

I have attracted the audience to my magazine with bright colours and large pictures of an exciting band. I have used multiple sell lines, colours, images and design features on the front cover to attract an audience.

6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt how to use Photoshop effectively and how to create an interesting blog about my subject. I have also learnt how the world of media works and how to achieve success in it. I have learned how to use Surveymonkey in my preliminary task and how to ask the right questions to obtain the best feedback.

7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Since creating my college magazine I have learnt:To do a photo shoot in a controlled area so it does not get interruptedTo take photos landscape and portrait to get a variety of shapes and imagesHow to use Photoshop effectively To pose some photos, but leave some informalTo appeal to a wider audience than college studentsTo use multiple sell lines and fill the front cover to attract more readersI have also used a bolder font in my music magazine than I did in my college magazine to make it stand out and look more professional
