The MEP’s should be asked to press the European Commission and European Parliament: 1. to draw up a charter for children, adolescents and adults with “dys” differences guaranteeing the right to access and to receive appropriate identification, support and opportunity to achieve their full potential in education, training, employment and all aspects of life, 2. to encourage the recognition of "dys"-type problems as a manifestation of differences, which challenges the people affected in navigating through life in a largely non-“dys” friendly world. Also, the fact that there is no relationship between a person's level of intelligence, individual effort, socio-economic position and the presence of a “dys” difference. Written Declaration of MEPs for“DYS” - children

In the last issue of EDA NEWS (Vol.13 No. 5 December 2007 page 20) Michael Kalmár, theEDA President, asked EDA Members to contact the Members of the European Parliament(MEP’s) in their countries who signed the Written Declaration 64/2007 for “DYS” – children.

The aim is to follow-up the MEP’s declared interest in helping “DYS”-children which includesour dyslexic children. The MEP’s should be asked to press the European Commission andEuropean Parliament:

1. to draw up a charter for children, adolescents and adults with “dys” differencesguaranteeing the right to access and to receive appropriate identification, supportand opportunity to achieve their full potential in education, training, employment and allaspects of life,
