Early transition Midterm 2030 Future by 2050
On the long run we may expect
significant growth in commercial
electrical ships using cutting
edge technologies that will
overcome the current uptake
barriers (e.g. lithium-air fuel cell
batteries).
Charging not only when in
port from green electricity, but

electricity from solar
photovoltaic systems and wind
directly onboard.
With the main driver being that of
managing sulphur regulations in
and outside ECAs, the market
suggests the early transition will
still see MGO as most adopted
compromise.
In parallel, LNG infrastructure
will be rolled out, trials for hybrid
solutions in short voyages will go
on, and R&I efforts will be
hopefully streamlined.
A wide host of hybrid solutions
will be successfully deployed for
SSS grounding on solid business
cases. To power long-distance
shipping, among solutions that
may take the lead: LNG and
LBG at the helm...
But also wind supported
propulsion may gain
momentum (some trial
applications already in place),
and energy efficiency, in
combination with alternative
fuels.

Condizioni quadro a supporto dello sviluppo armonico della rete nazionale LNG, tese a favorire l’obbiettivo di GAINN_IT: promuovere la sinergia tra pubblico e privato per favorire la fase di avvio (strat-up) della rete LNG.
Realizzazione di una rete LNG: interoperabile, omogenea e sicura:
1) Catena della formazione (skill needs e strumenti per conseguirli);
2) Uniformazione dell’approccio tecnico ed autorizzativo (Linee Guida, best practices) - SIMOPS;
3) Cross border continuity (uniformità tecnica, operativa, autorizzativa, normativa, infrastrutturale);
4) Canalizzazione delle risorse finanziarie.
