Etalon is a tribute to the relationship between humans and horses throughout history,

expressing a dream of freedom, cooperation and harmony.

The show is a unique, never-before-seen open air theatrical experience based on ancient Hungarian equestrian traditions that features 60-70 horses and large-scale equine and performing arts productions.

Emerging from the shadows of the east during the stormy centuries known as “the Dark ages” were the nomadic tribes and fearsome mounted warriors known as the Huns.

They were proud hunters who held their horses and falcons in highest regard and soon the neighbouring tribes and kingdoms came to know them for their unmatched skills of mounted archery.

These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation, carefully kept and proudly preserved for centuries to be revealed to you today.

Hundreds of years have passed, but Hungarian traditions and passion for falconry and mounted sports remain the same - just as they have in arabic culture.

Drawing on a tradition that stretches across the centuries, the 60-80 minute show features the Csikós (wranglers) performing stunts while riding a horse, such as the rider standing upright on, or jumping on and off a galloping horse.

Other features include working with horses at liberty, horseback archery, fire riding, falcons, humorous acts and many more.

The Show

The Horses

The beautiful horses on show were born and bred in Hungary from traditional Hungarian bloodlines, but the fire riding act includes an Arabic-Shagya cross-bred called “Youssuf”.Etalon also presents the wonder of horses working at complete liberty using the silent horse language of Equus.

The Falcons

The falconry scene depicts the harmonious allegiance between falcon, human and horse, who are all equally important for the successful outcome of the hunt. Falconry used to be a passion and also a form of training for the mounted warriors.

Mounted Archery

Thrill to the use of ancient Hungarian bows and arrows. The mounted archery scenes deliver an unbeatable buzz as the archers hit a flying disc with high accuracy while the horses are in full gallop.

The Csikós

The Csikós (Wrangler) scenes take the audience back to an age when a real csikós with his horses and long whip was ready in the saddle to face every stunt and challenge.

The Fire Riding

Real edge of the seat excitement and one of the high points of the show is the fire riding.You will be amazed at the courage and strength of our Hungarian horses as they jump surrounded by flames. Such stunts are impossible to carry out without the riders speaking the language of a horse.

Liberty

The production presents horses working at complete liberty using the silent horse language of Equus.A scene that demonstrates the hidden, invisible - and real - bond between horses and master.
