Tata Motors to launch Aria within a month

Tata Motors will launch Aria a cross-over between a multi-utility and sports utility vehicle within a month. 

The car is expected to be priced at about Rs 10 lakh.

Key factor to watch out for is whether Tata Motors will price Aria above its competitors like Xylo or Innova.

An electric scooter that costs only 1p a mile

automobile brand MINI has unveiled

a new electric scooter which it claims will cost the less than a rupee, per one mile.

Hooydonk of BMW, the hi-

tech zero-emissions two-

wheeler is powered by a

lithium-ion battery linked to

an electric motor which drives the 11-

inch rear wheel. 

The vehicle, which comes

in three interpretations, expected

to cost between

4,000 pounds and

5,000 pounds.

Dabur to take franchise route to expand retail venture

Consumer goods firm, Dabur India Ltd will start adopting the franchise route for its retail stores ‘Newu’.

The company's subsidiary, H&B Stores Ltd that currently operates 22 'Newu' stores primarily in North India, is also looking to open up to 150 new stores in 2011-12 and enter in the western region. 

The retail arm registered loss of Rs 17.83 crore in 2008-09, that came down to Rs 9.35 crore in 2009-10.

Analysts believe P&G’s entry into the hair colour category signals its new-found aggression in India. 

P&G’s closest rival, Hindustan Unilever

Both HUL and P&G, however, compete

aggressively in shampoos with their respective brands

Dove and Pantene.

The company aim to triple our market

share to 7-10 per cent from the present 2.5 per cent

Mahindra Satyam's delisting from NYSE unlikely to helpMahindra Satyam, formerly Satyam

Computer Services, will delist from the

NYSE, after realising that it cannot meet the

October 15 deadline for preparing financial statements under US

accounting standards. The news triggered a massive 26% fall in its

ADRs on Friday. The domestic shares fell

6%.

The problems with Satyam’s financial

accounts meant that the company did not publish its financial results for 2008-09 and 2009-10.

The last date for publishing results for

these two years under US accounting standards, or US GAAP, is October 15.

Celebrations cut short, extra 1% EPF interest to be taxed

The labour ministry has hiked the employees’ provident fund, or EPF, rate to 9.5%, but a finance ministry notification says that anything in excess of 8.5% will be taxed. 

Usually, the income tax department notifies a tax-free PF rate for the whole year. But this year, it’s only applicable from September 1. So the 9.5% provident fund return would be tax-free from April to August, but taxable thereafter
