The freedom of the road...

A motorhome is a great way to explore the country – it gives you the freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want, and stay there however long you want. The thing is, with a country as varied and as beautiful as ours, you may find yourself spoiled for choice!

Beginning with our own home town of Aberdeen, we present a whistle-stop tour of Scotland, England and Wales to inspire you on your next holiday.

AberdeenAberdeen is a stunning coastal city, sometimes called the Granite City. This is because many of its buildings are built with local grey granite. On a sunny day, some of those buildings sparkle like silver thanks to the high mica content in the granite, making it a truly stunning sight.

Of course, it's not just about the city; the surrounding countryside has plenty to offer too. Just north of Aberdeen itself lies Balmedie Beach, with miles of sand dunes stretching along the coast – it's the perfect place for a picnic!

Edinburgh

The capital city of Scotland is well worth a visit, with plenty to see and do. If you're interested

in natural attractions, make sure to climb Arthur's Seat – which is actually a dormant

volcano!

For history, there's plenty around, including the

fascinating (and often creepy) underground vaults, and of

course the famous Castle itself.

Don't forget to buy some Edinburgh rock before you

leave!

YorkDominated by York Minster – the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe – the historic walled city of York is an excellent choice for a city break. If you're interested in the past, you can explore Roman remains beneath the Minster itself and around the city, explore the Jorvik Viking Centre, and wend your way through medieval streets like the Shambles.

There's also plenty of cultural attractions, from museums and galleries to theatres and music venues.

And if the city gets too much, you can easily escape to explore the stunning Yorkshire countryside.

for its university, but there's plenty more to it than that!

the beautiful flowers of the botanical gardens.

For culture vultures, it's a paradise with the country's

highest concentration of internationally renowned

collections in its many museums and galleries!

Penzance

The lovely harbour town of Penzance is the most westerly town in mainland Britain, just nine miles from the famous Land's End and surrounded by gorgeous coastlines and countryside.

Sights and attractions to enjoy include the sub-tropical Morrab Gardens, where you can find many plants that can't be grown elsewhere in the UK, and the open air seawater Jubilee Bathing Pool. Don't forget to visit nearby conservation areas like the pretty village of Mousehole!

Aberystwyth

Set on the Welsh coast, this is a pretty seaside town within easy reach of the

breathtaking wilderness of the Cambrian Mountains and

valleys.

The Vale of Rheidol steam railway is an excellent way

to explore the area and see some of the most beautiful

sights, whilst within the town itself you can take the

funicular railway up the cliffs for an amazing panoramic

view, or look over the town from the striking vantage point of its ruined castle.

Windermere

The Lake District is indisputably a spectacular area, and Windermere – the largest natural lake in England – is at its heart.

Whether you spend time boating on the lake, walking, cycling or otherwise exploring the surrounding countryside, taking in popular local attractions such as the World of Beatrix Potter, or simply enjoy the traditional English charm of the villages and towns around the lake, this is a perfect holiday spot for any traveller.
