The GWS Slow Stick is an electric park flyer made by Grand-Wing Servotech. Its simplicity and easy-to-fly characteristics make it a great airplane for beginners. Out of the package, the Slow Stick uses three channels: throttle, elevator, rudder. With some simple modifications, ailerons can be added as a fourth channel to make a more nimble airplane
Introduction
SummaryThe goal of the project was to construct a Micro Air
Vehicle based on the GWS Slow Stick Platform, with other parts designed in Creo Parametrics 1.0. It must be under 450 grams and capable of taking off and landing directed by a radio control A cost analysis and material list preparation made sure that the project followed the design specifications. The goal is to fly as many 8 paths around two pylons seperated by 50’ in 5 minutes. . For this, the plane must take off and land from the ground, be able to fly for the entire 5 minutes without needing to recharge the battery, and must stay within the boundary limits
Project: To be build and design a Micro Air Vehicle, under 450 grams, capable of taking off and landing directed by a radio control. surveillance capabilities
Summary
• Build and test MAV• Fly non-stop for 5 minutes• Take off and land without human
manipulation• Fly figure 8 pattern• Fit with camera• Optimize cost

Description
1. Type of UAV2. Navigation System3. Propulsion4. Take off Mechanism5. Tail Design6. Camera Mount
Type of UAV
• GWS Slow Stick• Fixed Wing• Electric Power• Single tail position rudder• Single tail position elevator
Navigation System
• Full control from remote• No onboard programming• Remote with at least 3 channels
o Speedo Ruddero Elevator
Propulsion
• Single Nose tip dual blade propellor• Electrical power• Not efficient to use combustion or
gyro method
Camera Mount
Needed to be:• Light• Strong (Unlikely to release)• Inexpensive• In a position where the camera can
see
Analysis-Trainer
• Night Vapor RTF• Ready to fly• Removable Landing gear• Weight: 16.4 grams• Wingspan: 14.8 inches• Recommended Battery: 70mAh 3.7V
14C
Includes:• Wing• Rudder• Horizontal/Vertical Stabilizer• Elevator• Wing supports• Gears and Wheels• Battery attachment• Fuselage (no shell)
Analysis- GWS Slow Stick
• 10 degree dihedral for extra stability• 5 Minutes of max power• 2.4Ghz CT6B 6-channel transmitter
and receiver was best for capabilities and cost
Analysis- GWS Slow Stick
Details
• Center of Gravity: Ensures that least amount of thrust is needed for takeoff• Securing Components:
Glue/Tape/Rubber Bands
Problems And Solutions
• Weight: The heavier it is, the more energy needed for thrust. (400 grams)• Battery: Only lasts 5 minutes• Propellor: Hair got stuck in the
propellor of the trainer• We had a very hard time with the
assembly, and could not find any battery in stalk that would work with out plane
